Adam Levine was apparently a duckling that turned into a swan.
Photos surfaced of the Maroon 5 frontman's high school years two days after he was crowned People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive,' reports the Daily Mail.
The bright-eyed teen pre-rock star appeared quite different from the superstar of today. With an innocent smile and acne, Levine is shown in his Brentwood High School yearbook from 1994 in Los Angeles.

He's come a long way since then to nabbing the mag's coveted title, for which he reportedly outscored other celebs like Idris Elba, Justin Timberlake, David Beckham and Ryan Gosling.

'This award actually means everything to me. Becoming this cool, confident and seductive has been quite a journey,' Levine, 34, said on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' on Wednesday, where he officially accepted his award.
'Ryan Gosling, thank you for turning this down constantly,' he joked. 'That really helped my campaign.'

'The Voice' coach was able to laugh at himself on the late-night talk show as he was fully aware of the backlash received from some who took the title way too seriously.
'A lot of people kind of trivialize this sort of thing,' he added on 'Kimmel.' 'They think it's shallow, they think it's just a silly media stunt used to sell magazines and perpetuate the image of Hollywood being based on looks. And that's totally true. It is. But I'm completely cool with that.'

The critics didn't hold back after news hit that Levine was People's choice.

'If scrawny body, giraffe-necked, 2-day stubble guys with hair growth creeping down their necks are 'in,' then yes, I can see why People chose this guy,' Robin Long stated in response to the announcement.
Still, the 'This Love' singer was able to shrug off the naysayers and joke about the accolade, as did his Victoria's Secret model fiancée, Behati Prinsloo.
'Laughter, a lot of laughter,' Levine told People about his lady's reaction. 'She's keeping me humble.'
