I guess anytime things get stressful between partners, one's mind has a tendency to wander...<br /><br />He's visited my dreams a few times lately.  It's so real.  I see him, smell him, hear his voice and I feel him.  <br /><br />I found him on facebook today.  He's married and has a beautiful son that is a mirror image of himself.  No I'm not stupid, I won't contact him.  <br /><br />I feel silly thinking about him now.  I last saw him 19 years ago. <br /><br />He was my first love.<br /><br />It was too much, I was way too young, far too many years between us.<br /><br />Nothing kinky in the slightest.  But he filled the role of the daddy I needed.  And the allure of having the man that other girls swooned over... and the secrecy, the danger, the excitement, oh wow!<br /><br />It was discovered and it needed to end.  I was of age by then. Still his job could have (should have) been on the line.<br /><br />It ended too soon.  I wasn't ready.  Neither of us were but he knew it was best.<br /><br />My mom was dying, just months left to live.  Even though she hated me I felt I should be there for my dad who also didn't care for me.  I ran away from the state I grew up in and transplanted myself to where I am now, where my parents had relocated to.  It was a disaster in every way.<br /><br />I threw myself into an abusive relationship with the first person I met after moving here.<br /><br />Got out many years later.<br /><br />Rebounded into the arms of the man I eventually married.<br /><br />I don't have regrets.  I love him.  I adore my children and I have a good life.  But I do ache for more.<br /><br />Now here I am, fantasizing about my first love.  Wondering what could have been.

We've fallen out of the trend channel to the downside and yet we're repeatedly told that the future is so bright that we need to wear shades. I guess we can just pretty much <a href="http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=assume">assume</a> that we'll never reenter the channel again? Seriously?<br /><br />As seen in the chart, initial claims are just about as bright right now as they have ever been (perhaps even more so if the trend channel is any indicator). They were similarly bright in 2000 and 2007! They were not bright in 1982 though, and that's what made 1982 such a good year to swing for the fences. Things could only get brighter. In hindsight, the brightness increased enormously over the next 18 years!<br /><br />For a full year, 0.7% of the covered workers were sent to the unemployment lines each week back in 1982. Each week! Now that was dim! Compounded over 52 weeks, that gave each worker roughly a 30% chance of becoming unemployed. Ouch! Think that could never happen again?<br /><br />I have a reasonable concern that the trend channel in this chart will ultimately hold, and that's all it would take for me to shy away from risk taking. The channel is also very consistent with my long-term permabear attitude (since 2004). That's especially true if most investors start to believe that this economy can actually tolerate higher interest rates, as is continually repeated by the mainstream financial news.<br /><br /><i style="color: red;">See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over again for the truth to sink in... to kind of catapult the propaganda.</i> - <a href="http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/images/blbushpropagandacatapult.htm">George W. Strikers and supporters are demanding that Walmart pay its workers at least $25,000 a year and reinstate 20 workers who were fired for standing up for their rights.<br /><br />Activists arrested last month while protesting Walmart's retaliation against workers set a Labor Day deadline for the company to meet the demands.
