Everyone on Twitter is your fucking secretary? People are just supposed to drop what they’re doing to look something up for you? That’s so fucking stupid. Besides, in the time it took you to Tweet, you could have just Googled it yourself dumb ass.<br /><br /><b>- People who believe crazy conspiracy theories. </b><br /><br />I have a couple of Facebook Friends who keep posting links to some video that claims to “tell the truth” about what “REALLY” happened in the Sandy Hook shootings. It’s just stunning to me that people are so willing to show off their stupidity publicly like that. How embarrassing.<br /><br />Yeah, I know Obama’s coming for your guns. Jesus, this level of stupidity is just embarrassing. Do you really think background checks are going to prevent YOU from owning your guns? Weird how that works. You don’t want celebrities to shut up, you want everyone who has an opinion that you don’t like to shut up.<br /><br />Of course when you agree with a celebrity you not only have no problem with them, you ReTweet, ReBlog or Share whatever they say. Hell, I saw some people on Facebook sharing a post by a celebrity complaining about celebrities expressing their opinions. Really weird.<br /><br /><b>- Rude fucking people. </b><br /><br />My God they’re everywhere! Every day people become less and less respectful of others. People like my upstairs neighbor who sometimes comes home at 2:30 AM and vacuums. Yes! Vacuums at 2:30 in the fucking morning! You might think he’s just trying to be an asshole, but he’s not. He would have to give a shit about someone other than himself or have a little respect for others first. But, he doesn’t. He doesn’t know anyone else in this world even exists.<br /><br />You see people like him all day long. They stand around in front of you in line talking on their phone, holding others up and generally annoying everyone. They weave all over the road or slow way down because they’re busy texting someone. They make all kinds of noise at the movie theater talking, texting or yelling at the screen. They throw their trash on the ground or at a trash can and miss but don’t pick it up. They stand outside the front door of a public building smoking and blowing their smoke at people trying to get in or out and then they throw their cigarette butts on the ground. It goes and on and on and on. It’s enough to make you never want to go out in public again.<br /><br /><b>- People who are always in the middle of some drama. </b><br /><br />There are far too many people who are always just looking to start or jump into the middle of some kind of drama. They pretend that they were insulted, or insult someone or post some stupid passive-aggressive crybaby shit online and then it just goes on all day long.<br /><br />And worst of all, people post all these vague posts referencing the “drama” that’s going on but won’t link to any of it so I will know what the fuck they’re talking about. I NEVER know what is going on or who are beefing and while so many people I follow post about it, they never tell me who it is. Pisses me off!<br /><br />And then there are the people who start a blog post with “There’s a lot going on right now, but I can’t talk about it.” Well then don’t fucking mention it at all!<br /><br /><br />Okay, that’s enough for now. Brussels has first coped with crisis management in the region and has later included all BALKAN countries in the EU enlargement process. It has made it clear on various occasions that the door to full membership is open for the BALKAN countries. However, the BALKAN countries are well aware of the fact that their memberships are contingent not only on the reform movements they are to carry out but also on the developments within the Union. The BALKAN countries have recently been querulous about the Union’s lack of attention. This leads to the calling into question of EU’s enlargement process and the sustainability of the reforms in the Western BALKANS. There are even those who believe CROATIA’S membership, seemingly due in the middle of 2013, may also be delayed. </span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br /><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">Despite increased pessimism in the western BALKANS, it is obvious the Union’s eastward enlargement is underway. CROATIA’S EU membership has been guaranteed. Membership negotiations were started with MONTENEGRO in the middle of 2012. The EUROPEAN Commission has also been offering MACEDONIA to start membership talks for the fourth straight year but Skopje cannot make any progress in that regard because of the name dispute it has with GREECE. Owing to the headway it has made in the past two years in its reforms programme, ALBANIA also seems to be edging towards getting the candidacy status. It is more appropriate to say that the crisis the EU is in the grips of at the moment is also making itself felt in the enlargement process. </span></span></div><span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br /><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The latest statistics by Eurostat indicates that the rate of joblessness in the Euro Zone has reached a record level of 11.7%. Almost 60% of those under 25 in crisis-ridden GREECE and SPAIN are unemployed. The difficulties which have shattered many of EUROPE’S economies have not only yanked further enlargement from among the basic priorities of Brussels but have also tarnished its image among the BALKAN peoples. The BALKAN peoples are of the view that the EU no longer emanates confidence and no one is certain about what shape it is going to be in after a couple of years. </span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br /><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">As a matter of fact, the western BALKAN states should focus on the economic measures they need to take and their growth instead of calling into question whether the enlargement process is going to be continued. The citizens of the western BALKAN countries condemned for years on end to live under conditions far from prosperous with the motivation of politically tinged nationalistic discourse now seem prepared to sever their support for every financially unsuccessful government. And it is at this point that the impact on the western BALKAN countries of the EU crisis may assume more serious dimensions. Save for EU funds, trade and financial relations between the EU and the western BALKAN countries may bump into hardships. What is more, the BALKAN countries are unlikely to have more investors from the EU countries in the next couple of years. There is no doubt EU enlargement will continue in the future as well, but the western BALKAN countries should concentrate on their own development problems more seriously rather than fancying the idea that their problems will melt away with a magic stick. </span></span></div><span style="font-size: large;"> </span><br /><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div>

One in three American adults have gone online to figure out a medical condition | Pew Internet & American Life Project

<base href="data:">Thirty-five percent of U.S. adults say that at one time or another they have gone online specifically to try to figure out what medical condition they or someone else might have.<br><br>These findings come from a national survey by the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project. Throughout this report, we call those who searched for answers on the internet "online diagnosers."<br><br>When asked if the information found online led them to think they needed the attention of a medical professional, 46% of online diagnosers say that was the case. Thirty-eight percent of online diagnosers say it was something they could take care of at home and 11% say it was both or in-between.<br><br>When we asked respondents about the accuracy of their initial diagnosis, they reported:<br><br><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>• 41% of online diagnosers say a medical professional confirmed their diagnosis. An additional 2% say a medical professional partially confirmed it.<br></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>• 35% say they did not visit a clinician to get a professional opinion.<br></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>• 18% say they consulted a medical professional and the clinician either did not agree or offered a different opinion about the condition.<br></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>• 1% say their conversation with a clinician was inconclusive.<br></div><div><br></div>Women are more likely than men to go online to figure out a possible diagnosis. Other groups that have a high likelihood of doing so include younger people, white adults, those who live in households earning $75,000 or more, and those with a college degree or advanced degrees.<br><br>It is important to note what these findings mean – and what they don't mean. Historically, people have always tried to answer their health questions at home and made personal choices about whether and when to consult a clinician. Many have now added the internet to their personal health toolbox, helping themselves and their loved ones better understand what might be ailing them. This study was not designed to determine whether the internet has had a good or bad influence on health care. It measures the scope, but not the outcome, of this activity.<br><br><b>Clinicians are a central resource for information or support during serious health episodes — and the care and conversation take place mostly offline</b><div><br>To try to capture a focused picture of people's health information search and information-assessment strategies, we asked respondents to think about the last time they had a serious health issue and to whom they turned for help, either online or offline:<br><br><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>• 70% of U.S. adults got information, care, or support from a doctor or other health care professional.<br></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>• 60% of adults got information or support from friends and family.<br></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre">	</span>• 24% of adults got information or support from others who have the same health condition.<br></div><div><br></div>The vast majority of this care and conversation took place offline, but a small group of people did communicate with each of these sources online. For brevity's sake, we will refer to this group as "online health seekers."<br><br>When asked to think about the last time they hunted for health or medical information, 77% of online health seekers say they began at a search engine such as Google, Bing, or Yahoo. Another 13% say they began at a site that specializes in health information, like WebMD. Just 2% say they started their research at a more general site like Wikipedia and an additional 1% say they started at a social network site like Facebook.<br><br><b>Half of health information searches are on behalf of someone else</b></div><div><br>When asked to think about the last time they went online for health or medical information, 39% of online health seekers say they looked for information related to their own situation. Another 39% say they looked for information related to someone else's health or medical situation. What I like about this method is the accountability it could bring because if everyone in Grade 3 shared their documents you could see at a flash who wasn’t keeping up etc. etc. It could be shared with your HOD and Principal as well. </span><br /><strong style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></strong><strong><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Use Google Drive offline when you are at home</span></strong><br /><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It would be very easy to work at home or at school without using a flashdrive even if you didn’t have Internet. You can access Google Drive offline and work on it. Readers - below is an hour-long interview of Dr. James Duncan, conducted on 1/14/13 by Chris Rosebrough of the <a href="http://www.fightingforthefaith.com/" target="_blank">Fighting for the Faith</a> radio program. In the interview Dr. Duncan describes what he learned during the discovery process of his lawsuit against Perry Noble and NewSpring Church, <a href="http://christianresearchnetwork.org/2013/01/04/bloggers-lawsuit-for-harassment-against-perry-noble-and-newspring-church-reaches-settlement/" target="_blank">which was settled</a> before it went to trial.<br /><br />It is a real eye-opener as to how mega churches with rock star preachers operate. Really, there is no one so hated by these pastors and their followers than the person who dares to publicly and consistently criticize their beloved pastor. I've been writing at 5 am. It is just one page. One page to summarize how I feel and what I want him to carry with him.</p> <p>But one page can't capture it. It won't. It can't. I have to pick the words that will inspire him and hope that 18 years has been enough time to tell him how much I love him and all the things that he needs to know to make it in this world. </p> <p>So, how can I leave a tiny piece of me on this page, so that when I'm gone, he can look at it and say ... "yeah, that's my Mom... that is what she would say to me if she were here right now." How can capture a bit of immortality -- or at least a fleeting bit, as long as he's alive, because in the end, he's the only one who will really read or care what I said. </p> <h3>Tidal Waves of Change</h3> <p>I was completely clueless about what this means and still am. It is kind of like playing in the surf at the beach, I think I'm ok until the next big wave comes and smacks me in the face, stinging my eyes and causing my nose to run. I get to do this two years in a row - two tsunamis back to back, my daughter graduates next year.  </p> <p>So much of who I am is wrapped up in my desire to love my children with abandon and to make them independent people who don't need me anymore. In this case, success means change. Success means letting go. My youngest will be starting middle school next year... I'm more thankful for him than ever because I've still got a lot of being a Mom left in these bones. </p> <p>Being a Mom has been the greatest joy of my life as a close second to being a wife of a great man. I had no idea how much I'd love these three little squirming, wet creatures who came into my life. </p> <h3>Tough Times Give you the Chance to Treasure</h3> <p>Sunday we were laughing about all of the times we had been in or to the hospital with our three. LAUGHING. We laughed about how my youngest inhaled a sunflower seed and had to be at Eggleston and how I held him all night as he screamed because he couldn't eat. We laughed about how my oldest woke up from wisdom tooth surgery with a violent temper and my daughter came out of having her tonsils removed sobbing. We laughed about those things that almost sent me over the edge and we told jokes and we remembered those times with fondness. Why? Because it is our story together.</p> <p>Families make memories together. <strong>Sometimes the tough times are an opportunity to show just how much you love someone</strong>. Without those times, they might be oblivious as to what they mean to us...let me demonstrate.</p> <h3>The Family Heirlooms</h3> <p>Yesterday I heard this story that fits from Dr. Charles Lowery who told a story about a little girl who was told not to do gymastics in the den because the family heirlooms were on the shelves and tables. The rug was thick, so one day when Mom was in the back of the house, she couldn't resist and started doing her back handsprings. She was fine for a while but started really getting into it and kicked a vase off the shelf. When she did, it cracked into shards and she fell on top of the vase, cracking it further but gashing her leg open.</p> <p>Her Mom heard the noise and came running. The little girl was so afraid because she knew she had broken a precious family keepsake. But when her Mom came in and saw the blood, she didn't even see or say anything about the vase. All she could do was look at the little girls leg to see if she was ok. And then the little girl realized something that changed her life. <strong>She was the family treasure</strong>. </p> <h3>See the treasure in your students</h3> <p>As you teach these precious children, remember that everyone one of them is the family treasure. And if they are not..make them yours. Every child deserves to be loved. These children in your classroom are your heirlooms. They are treasures. They are gifts. </p> <p>As we struggle through life, teaching, and everything else, let's keep clearly in focus who the treasures in our lives are.</p> <p> Notice, I didn't say what our treasures are...
