 to stop while I’m ahead.</div>

Former NFL star <strong>Darren Sharper</strong>,
 suspected of raping nine women in five states, has turned himself in to
 Los Angeles authorities. Sharper made arrangements to surrender to Los 
Angeles police and did so without incident Thursday evening (February 
27), a source tells <strong><a href="http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/28/justice/louisiana-darren-sharper-arrest/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">CNN</a></strong>.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Arrest warrants had been issued in New 
Orleans for Sharper and an acquaintance for the alleged rapes of two 
women there last September. The Orleans Parish district attorney’s 
office said Sharper, 38, and <strong>Erik Nunez</strong>, 26, each face two counts of aggravated rape.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

convicted, the two men face a possible sentence of life in prison 
without parole. Last week, Sharper pleaded not guilty to the California 
charges, which included two counts of rape by use of drugs.</div>

For the first time in two decades, the mayor of New York City will not 
march in the annual St. Patrick Day’s Parade on March 17 but will 
instead join the “St. Pat’s for All” parade in Queens that will feature 
gay marchers, including Irish drag queen Pandora Panti Bliss.</div>

The keeper of a Cleveland job bank online posting group is under fire 
after she ridiculed, embarrassed and trash-talked at least two job 
seekers who sought the woman’s help in getting admitted to the group’s 
email listserv.<br />

Kelly Blazek, the group’s self-described “House Mother” and 
communications professional, has scrubbed all traces of herself from the
 Internet after the web erupted when her vitriolic emails went viral.<br />

It all began when Diana Mekota wrote Blazek about her qualifications so
 she could use the listserv to find a job after relocating to the Ohio 
city from Rochester, N.Y., <a href="http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2014/02/job_bank_head_kelly_blazeks_sc.html?xrs=RebelMouse_tw" target="_blank">the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.</a><br />

Mekota also sent an “invitation to connect” on LinkedIn with the well-networked Blazek.<br />

But Blazek, who once said she wanted her “subscribers to feel like 
everyone is my little sister or brother, and I’m looking out for them,” 
instead wrote back with a scathing email telling Mekota off.<br />

“Apparently you have heard that I produce a Job Bank, and decided it 
would be stunningly helpful for your career prospects if I shared my 
960+ LinkedIn connections with you — a total stranger who has nothing to
 offer me,” Blazek wrote to the John Carroll University graduate. "Your 
invite to connect is inappropriate, beneficial only to you, and tacky.”<br />

The scorned Mekota posted the nasty letter to imgur.com, posted under 
the headline “Your humility lesson for the year from a ‘professional.’”<br />

“Guess us twenty somethings should bow down to senior professionals 
because clearly we have nothing to offer,” Mekota wrote alongside her 
post.<br />

The email quickly went viral — and sent Blazek, who won a local “Communicator of the Year” award in 2013, scrambling.<br />

others in the profession," in announcing she had won the communications

And the story of one rebuke brought out another job seeker who says he, too, was verbally beat down by Blazek.<br />

"My December Job Bank had a five paragraph rant about what a poor job 
my subscribers do when telling others to sign up for my service — 
explaining one's career field is paramount to entry. Period. I promise 
to deny any requester who made me guess what they do. Congratulations — 
you're another one,” Blazek wrote to Rick Uldricks late last year.<br />

“This is the most bizarre response I've ever gotten from a Yahoo group,
 but maybe she's just having a bad day," Uldricks told the Plain Dealer.<br />

But when he heard Mekota’s story, he came forward with the snarky, rude email.<br />

"I provide an amazing free service to an entire industry that needs to 
remember I have no idea, nor do I want to know, the personal resume 
behind 7,300 e-mails or 2,700 Twitter handles. People are removed from 
my list for spamming me, for annoying me (you're doing a great job), and
 perhaps you were removed on purpose?" she wrote.<br />

“I suggest you sign up for the other Job Bank in town. Oh, guess what —
 there isn't one," Blazek, signing off with, "Done with this 
conversation, and you."<br />

Blazek has deleted her LinkedIn, Twitter and blog accounts and other 
LinkedIn users named Kelly Blazek are distancing themselves from the Job
 Bank one, including a Wisconsin woman who wrote she is not the Blazek 
“in the news.”<br />

Blazek parody Twitter accounts have popped up and a new Cleveland job 
bank service, “run by a couple of millennials,” sprouted under the 
handle <a href="https://twitter.com/OtherNEOJobBank" target="_blank">@OtherNEOJobBank.</a></div>

American Idol Voting Season 13 : The New Math!

But how many people could that really have been? With <a href="http://www.americanidol.com/faq" target="_blank">voting caps</a> finally placed this year, I thought I would try to figure out the minimum and maximum number of people who could have generated those 71 million votes using all the different ways to vote, and assuming people were not using multiple Facebook accounts. Google accounts, cell phones to text or phone numbers for calling the 800 numbers. For simplicity's sake I will assume one person has one Google account, one Facebook account, one texting cell phone number and one different land line or other voice number they can use to dial the 800 number.<br /><br />Another point is that for each voting method you can vote up to 50 times for each contestant, which means 13 x 50 = 650 votes for each method, but why would anybody vote 50 times for all 13 contestants? That does not help any of them. In reality you can now vote to try to eliminate some particular contestant by voting 50 times for everybody else except that particular undesirable person. For this week, that meant placing 50 votes for 12 of the contestants , or 600 votes cast using each of the four methods (the mobile app and Facebook share the same 50 vote per contestant limit.) That would mean 2400 votes cast in total by this one voter to try to eliminate one contestant. If we divide the "71 million votes" Ryan proclaimed by 2400 votes, the number amazingly drops to about 30,000 people.<br /><br />I doubt too many people will actually vote that many times, but I can easily see people voting at least for five contestants using both Facebook and Google (the fastest and easiest ways). I personally only voted using Google for five of the contestants and it took me maybe a minute to cast 250 votes. So if I had voted using Facebook too for the same five contestants (50 votes each) that would have been 500 votes I could have cast in just a few minutes. If we divide those 71 million votes by 500 that is still only 142,000 people. From the approximately 10 million people who watched the show, that would be a measly 0.14% actually bothering to vote. And I did not even watch the show myself!<br /><br />Even if people were voting for just one contestant, I am sure if they voted via Google, they would also vote via Facebook (or the mobile app) which means 100 quick votes for that one person. Text messaging would be pretty fast for one person just 50 times, and even the 800 voice calling 50 times would not take that long. I remember when I was voice dialing the toll-free numbers back in Season 9 (go Crystal Bowersox!) I could get out about 5 calls in about a minute, so voting 50 times via voice line for a contestant should only take 10 minutes. So I cannot imagine anyone who cared enough to vote would vote less than 100 votes to any contestant. That would set the maximum number of people voting to be 71 million divided by 100 or 710,000. Would anyone really just vote once or twice by phone and then stop?<br /><br />The other big question is how many die hard fans would use multiple Facebook or Google accounts, or multiple cell phones or land lines to vote? How much is the vote skewed by just a small number of people who would place thousands upon thousands of votes using multiple accounts and numbers? I do not think Idol could track, for example, if someone was voting from different cell phones with different carriers and different Facebook/Google accounts all at the same time. There are too many permutations people can use, borrowing other people's phones and accounts to vote multiple times.<br /><br />The bottom line? That "71 million votes" number is completely meaningless (as if we did not already realize that.) I would, however, love to see the actual data that comes in from all the votes and see how the votes are all distributed. I think that would be fascinating!

Blame it on lower sales now than in 2010 and also releasing the album at the end of February instead of the beginning of November when a lot other albums are being released. After Candice's performance on the show last night in front of millions of viewers, hopefully a large number of them will be impressed enough to go buy a copy of "Music Speaks". If she is lucky she may actually peak higher than #14, we will have to wait and see.<br /><br />Interestingly two other American Idols popped back onto the chart, two other ladies to give Candice some company. Mandisa's "Overcomer" re-entered again (it has done so several times) which was #198 two weeks ago, off the chart last week and #167 this week. Carrie Underwood's 2012 release "Blown Away" also decided to re-enter the chart at #189. It was released about 22 months ago but still selling -- amazing!<br /><br />The other three Idols on the chart (six total this week!) are the same three guys from last week. Daughtry's "Baptized" again leads the guy Idols at #90 (from #99 last week), a nice improvement for him. And Scotty McCreery's "See You Tonight" is holding perfectly steady with a second week at #107. Ruben Studdard's "Unconditional Love" is sliding a bit however, from #106 last week to #141 in its third week.
