The primary one is probably because they can’t afford a house or can’t get financing, but I’m sure that there are lots of people out there who prefer apartments because they’re much less hassle. If anything goes wrong you just call the manager and they send maintenance over to fix it. Okay, some places are better at this than others, but that’s basically true. <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">People like to claim that renting is just throwing money away, but I don’t know if that’s really the case. If you add up all the expenses of owning a home over 10 or 20 years including all the maintenance, lawn care, plumbing, carpeting, flooring, renovations and interest I doubt you’ll EVER get all that back. All you will have is a decade or two of spending too much of your free time doing Honey Do Lists. Who needs that? <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">There are some downsides to apartments too. You don’t have as much room to spread out. You can’t do any renovations. You don’t normally have an area to do any gardening. You don’t have as much privacy as a home. And, in most complexes you have to park outside year round. Since most apartment dwellers don’t have snow shovels this could cause some problems for folks. They also don’t normally shovel the sidewalks. They claim that if they do so and someone falls and hurts themselves they could get sued. That’s bullshit. Anyway, this time they did shovel. Not much, but they came by after the sleet turned to snow and shoveled the sidewalks a bit. <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">I got to thinking though; there are twelve apartments in every building, six per side. If each resident would buy a little shovel and some salt, we could clear our sidewalks pretty easily. Hell, Sunday and today as I was going out to clear off the cars and check on things, I was busting the ice and clearing it off the sidewalks with just the heel of my shoes. Well, most people don’t help out their neighbors like that nor do they like to work as a team. And, worst of all, most people take the “It doesn’t bother me to have an icy sidewalk, so why should I go to all that effort for someone else.” That makes me sad. <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Then again, maybe my neighbors WOULD be willing to do this and are sitting around thinking the same thing. The size of the stomach is either reduced or a portion of it removed. This is possible either through use of a gastric band or sleeve gastrectomy respectively. Gastric bypass can also be done by resecting and diverting the small intestine to the stomach. Research has shown that this procedure helps in improving the condition of diabetic patients and reducing the risk of cardiovascular risks.<br /> <br /> The bariatric procedure is recommended for persons that have a minimum BMI of 40. It is also helpful in persons that have medical conditions that are exacerbated by excess weight. It is important to emphasize that this option should only be considered when all the conservative options have failed.<br /> <br /> The benefits and risks of the procedure should be considered in full before a decision is made as to whether or not to have it. Most common complications that should be considered are malabsorption syndromes and gall bladder diseases. There is a high risk of patients getting into depression and as such pre-operation counselling is warranted.<br /> <br /> Surgical procedures are grouped in to three main categories. These are malabsorptive, restrictive or mixed. The most commonly performed is the malabsorptive procedure. Malabsorptive operations aim at creating a physiological state of malabsorption. Biliopancreatic diversion combined with duodenal switch (BDS/DS) is one such undertaking. A section of the stomach is resected, creating a smaller pouch which is then directly connected to the ileum, bypassing the duodenum and jejunum. The malabsorption that results can be severe enough to cause serious deficiency diseases such as osteoporosis and anemia unless vitamins and mineral supplements are administered.<br /> <br /> Predominantly restrictive procedures aim at minimizing oral intake by restricting gastric volume. This produces early food satisfaction. Vertical banded gastroplasty involves permanent stapling of the stomach to create a small stomach to handle the food. It is regarded as one of the safest operations carried out today.<br /> <br /> In sleeve gastrectomy, the stomach is reduced to 85% its original size. A huge portion of the stomach following the greater curvature is removed. This makes the stomach look more like a tube or shaped like a banana. It is a permanent procedure done under laparoscopy. Although the volume of the stomach is reduced, it still works normally and the patient can be able to take in small amounts of food at a time.<br /> <br /> In the immediate post-operation period, one should only take liquid foods such as fruit juices and broth and gelatin desserts which are sugar-free. One should eat these foods until the gut fully recovers from the operation. Other diets to be introduced slowly include skimmed milk, cream soup, protein drinks and blended foods.<br /> <br /> Adverse effects of <A href="http://www.byyoursideweightlosstravel.com/bariatric-surgery">weight reduction surgery</A> are common. Due to reduced calcium absorption, patients can develop metabolic bone disease in form of secondary hyperparathyroidism and osteopenia. Rapid weight loss can also result in gallstones. Many people have been through many things without God, but then, when they believe, they realize that it could have been much easier if they had known God then”</i><br /><br />My reply to her was…<br /><br /><i>“I believe that to be true and I am one who subscribes to that line of thought, but there are people who live their lives being horrid human beings all the while insisting that they believe in God.
