Carrie = maroon, Phillip = dk blue, Kelly = lt blue, Fantasia = green
You would think since Phillip Phillip's "The World From the Side of the Moon" album only dropped two spots to #59 this week on the BillBoard chart that it would still be the top selling album by an American Idol. But that title now belongs to an album released in May 2012 which has now sold over 1.5 million copies, "Blown Away" by Carrie Underwood, jumping from #71 to #44 on its 68th week out. The release of her new DVD of the Blown Away tour helped give that album quite a big sales boost. To show her staying power, the original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson keeps her greatest hits album in the Top 100 for its 39th week, at #99. Rounding out the Idols in the Top 200 is Fantasia's "Side Effects of You" holding fairly steady at #125 from #120 last week after 4 months.
A former American Idol winner, Lee DeWyze,  did release a new album last week, but it is not even showing up on the preliminary HitsDailyDouble sales chart (although Phillips album is there). Lee's "Frames" album. I think Phillip will regain the title of "top album selling Idol of the week" until the following week when Mandisa's "Overcomer" (which was officially released today) should pass him up.

More interesting number will appear in October when Season 12 winner Candice Glover's "Music Speaks" is released on October 8 and Scotty McCreery's "See You Tonight" is released on October 15. With Scotty's album title and cover art finally released and his single holding very steady around #40 on the country chart, I am guessing his promotion is gearing up to start pushing his album. Hopefully the same will happen for Candice soon too.
