Alicia Keys, Sarah Jessica Parker and other female celebrities have joined the push for Mayor Bill de Blasio’s tax plan to fund universal prekindergarten and after school programs.

A group of female entertainers released statements in support of the tax plan through the de Blasio-affiliated UPKNYC campaign on Friday.

“New York City’s tax plan is a smart, fair way to make a real investment in New York City’s children and families, and it’s something we should all get behind. We need universal pre-kindergarten and expanded after-school programs, and we can’t afford to wait. I’m honored to stand with so many New York City women to support this plan,” Parker said in a statement.

While Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proposed funding the education initiative through the state budget, de Blasio’s plan calls for an increase in taxes for New Yorkers earning $500,000 or more.

“Our children are everything! Our choices now determine their future and ours – that’s why we need pre-k and after-school programs for all New York City’s kids,” Keys said.

Julianne Moore, Rosie O’Donnell, Kathy Najimy, Rosie Perez, Olivia Wilde and longtime de Blasio supporter Cynthia Nixon also issued statements supporting the plan.
