"Wrapped in Red" sales - First Five Weeks
The HitsDailyDouble final sales numbers are in for the Black Friday sales, and three of the American Idol winners should be feeling pretty merry (and one who did not even win). Leading the pack is Kelly Clarkson whose "Wrapped in Red" album is slated to sell a huge 133,000 units, almost twice what it sold its first week, and giving her a total of 333K sales of that holiday album. Note that her Christmas special on NBC is next week (December 11) and that should keep the sales of that album rolling along. They may as well certify it gold right now. Her sales over the 5 weeks of release have gone: 70K, 43K, 42K, 44K and now 133K. Not too bad of a Christmas gift for her along with her TV special and a baby on the way!

The next Idol on the list is the lone "non-winner" and the only one who saw a sales decrease, but that is only because his debut was last week. Daughtry's "Baptized" saw sales go down, but only by 35% from 55K last week to 37K this week, for a total of over 90K in two weeks.

The other two Idols on the list saw huge increases. Scotty McCreery's "See You Tonight" sold 6K last week, but is estimated to sell over four times that this week with 25K to bring his total to over 130K in its 7th week. That nice spike helped to bring it back to close to the sales for his EP from the summer of 2011, so hopefully his sales will continue stronger through the holiday season.
Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" also shot back into the Top 50 selling albums this week with huge sales of 22K, especially for an album that is about 1 1/2 years old and has already sold over 1.5 million copies. And like Kelly she will be on NBC too, tomorrow night in "Sound of Music", so not only will "Blown Away" receive some more sales, but the soundtrack to that performance should do well too. I just want to see her sing with Stephen Moyer from "True Blood"!
