Wow, can Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson do no wrong? I was worried how Carrie's performance on "Sound of Music" would do with the ratings, and I had little reason to worry. The ratings last night were great, even if Carrie's acting may not have been overly impressive. It was still a very entertaining program (especially live) and the rest of the cast did a great job. (Yes, I liked the performances of Stephen "the Vampire" Moyer and Broadway veterans Audra McDonald and Christian Borle, and I thought young St. Louis native Ariane Rinehart was a stellar Liesl.) Carrie's "Blown Away" album saw a huge jump in sales even before the actual performance, jumping from #157 to #33 on the BillBoard chart. Way to go, Baroness Von Trapp!

As for rest of the Idols on the BillBoard album chart, Carrie's NBC advertised Idol buddy, Kelly Clarkson, leads all American Idols with her impressive Christmas album "Wrapped in Red". The album improved to #6 this week for its fifth straight week in the Top 10 with impressive sales of 131K this week to bring her total album sales to 330K. Her "Greatest Hits" album even jumped back into the Top 200 at #141 and her NBC television special is not until next week. That gives her two albums in the Top 200 and they should both remain there next week as well.

Another Idol with two albums on the chart is Scotty McCreery, whose "See You Tonight" rebounded nicely from #63 to #39 this week and whose Christmas album continues strong at #165. Although Kellie Pickler's album dropped off the Top 200, Daughtry's "Baptized" remains strong in his second week at #22 and Mandisa's "Overcomer" stays solid at #134. Phillip Phillips also moved up from #196 to #161. That makes six American Idols with eight total albums in the Top 200. That's not too bad of a showing for a decade old reality show!
