Wow, Phillip Phillips' "World from the Side of the Moon" has been out now for 35 weeks, but it keeps moving up the BillBoard 200 album chart. It is now at #31, its best position in over 3 months. He is again the leader of the Idol winners on the chart, with three other lady winners in the Top 100 with their latest albums. Fantasia sees her "Side Effects of You" fall to its lowest position since its release at #92, but it still remains in the Top 100 after 13 weeks. Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood continue to stay very steady on the chart as well, with Carrie's "Blown Away" at #81 and Kelly's "Greatest Hits" at #88. "Blown Away" has been on the chart for 64 weeks now and Kelly's is at 35 (the same week as Phillip's) which show both albums have very strong continued sales. Pretty impressive for a 15 month run for Carrie, and an 8 month run for Kelly with a greatest hits release.

And last Friday the American Idol Summer Tour kicked off, and nobody probably noticed. I will be very curious to see what the final sales numbers will be for the full concert tour. It sounds like the first concert in Kent, Washington, was about one half full. Similarly the LA show Tuesday in the Nokia Theater was not filled near capacity. The tour will be over on August 31 in Nashville, and apparently there will not be any Walmart or Amazon EP's on sale. The only item on sale instead is the "Idols Singing Idols" CD which is not a very impressive sounding compilation.
