Do you recall reading this report called ‘SKA to inspire science students’ on 20th March 2013 (http://digitalclassroom.co.za/digitalclassroom/latestnews/303-ska-to-inspire-science-students)?

The SKA will be made up of an array of 3 000 satellite dishes built in the Karoo region of the Northern Cape, eight other African countries, and in Australia and New Zealand. The bulk of the project has been awarded to South Africa. SchoolNet is involved in some of the ICT training that will happen in schools around the SKA, with Intel being the funder of the training.

Intel Teach Getting Started training was provided to 60 teachers from schools around the SKA this month from 2-5 April 2013. The Intel Teach Getting Started training provides initial confidence in the use of ICTs. Carnarvon High School was the host of this training. Mustek, an Intel partner sponsored laptops for use during the training. Training was facilitated by SchoolNetSA’s Ms Nomty Gcaba and Senzo Ngcobo.
