There looks to be a scarcity of smartphone security apps, why is this? With increasing use of mobiles for all types of uses i would have thought this feature would be a priority?

Your vigilance is commendable however thus far there hasn’t been any real threats to Windows smartphones. they're still comparatively new with a small market share, that makes them abundant less of a target for viruses and malware. just like the iPhone, Windows Phone is protected by a ‘walled garden’ App Store with a decent screening method designed to comb out apps carrying a malicious payload. that's to not say that one thing won’t slip through internet and security loopholes are going to be uncovered within the future except for the instant the largest threat to Windows Phone users is pretend alerts and scams that scare you into thinking that your phone is infected and trick you into parting together with your mastercard details for useless, and frequently non-existent opposing virus software system.
