- A pdf with 20 ipad apps for educators - this may be something you could email to your teachers if they've just gotten ipads to teach them how to open and read a pdf on their ipad. This is really just a powerpoint converted to PDF but it does include links and screenshots.
- 40 ipad apps for language learners that teach language and culture. My top complaint continues to be the lack of feedback to parents and teachers, however, if you're implementing iPad 1:1, this is a must review list.
- Instructions for adding a safari bookmarklet for just about every service (except Diigo) on Chris Bray's website. If you have an ipad or iphone and want to send things to your Tumblr blog you can follow these instructions. (For pinterest, go to the Pinterest website.)
- Reddit is increasingly a site where technology news breaks as well as having a tight integration with top technology sites like Twit.tv (they use Reddit to curate topics for the show.) This app is the highest recommended app for using reddit on the ipad and for that reason I've installed it.
- This web browser for the ipad integrates tightly with dropbox. If you want to download and save to dropbox from your ipad web browser, this is worth it.
- Demo: Display Recorder iPad App – Hurrah and How Did This Make It Into the App Store? — iPad InsightDisplay recorder is a cool app that lets you record everything on your ipad screen. This is a demo. I found out about this at socialedcon during our smackdown. Unfortunately it has been taken down out of the app store for some reason, but I'll mention it because it was there.
- Another lesson deployment app for the iPad that you can compare to NearPod. Another one worth testing.
- This software is supposed to make it easy to airprint all of your printers so you can print from iPad or iPod ir iPhone. It uses Bonjour and comes highly recommended. My sister is a graphic designer and says all of her friends are raving about it right now. Worth a try as her friends are super picky.
- An app that uses your Twitter account to make magazines.
- Detailed instructions for installing pocket onto any web browser including for mobile devices.
- Instructions for adding Pocket (formerly read it later) to the safari web browser. This is the sole competitor for Instapaper in my opinion. Cool App.
- You should read this page if you're at ISTE and if you're not. It is created using Smore - an app recommended at the smackdown today. It includes many of the other events of iste that you'll want to join.
- A new social network around scrapbooking called Wollage to share memories. This might be a great one for using this summer.
- Socrative is an app that turns any device into part of a student response system. Not sure why I haven't written about before as it has won all kinds of awards. If you have BYOD or iPad or any type of 1:1 technology, Socrative is a must use so you don't have to buy a separate response system.
- This is like pictionary with friends. Draw something and send it to a friend and have them guess what it is. This app is on sale right now. Lots of fun.
- Research and information collected about ipads and app use in education.
- Take photos and text in this iPad app and create an iBook to share. This is very cool. You could use this for journal ing in a 1:1 iPad program.
- Skitch for the Ipad is here. This whiteboard drawing, mind mapping ipad tool saves to evernote. If you love evernote, this is a must download tool.
- Many teachers are raving about symbaloo, here is a another one.
- An app building content management platform. This was recommended to me by Jarrod Robinson (Mr Robbo the PE Geek - a very helpful guy).
- A sticky note account. I may use this for my pkflow method that uses stickys. This website lets you have a page with online stickys and notes. Cool tool that reminds me of corkulous on the ipad.
- Official website of Google apps for education. If you're interested in setting this up for your school or college, here is where you start.
- Google docs is a word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation software of choice in the cloud for many that need to be collaborative. But perhaps the most useful thing to me is google forms which let students make the form and put it out on the web for others to answer. Then, examining results is as simple as pasting into a word cloud maker.
- Teacher yourself chinese and play mahJong at the same time. This is an app.
- Hook your ipad up to your projector and it becomes a personal whiteboard. IWB's are they as useful?
- The showme app on the ipad has some fascinating potential. I am going to play with this over the summer. Would love to hear from anyone who is already using it.
