Day 177 (Thursday 4/30)

<p>It’s “Friday Eve”!!! Love it!!! :)</p> <p>I didn’t have time to get in a workout this AM, but I did have a few extra minutes to make a nice breakfast. By 11am I was sure ready for my morning snack, usually I don’t eat it until 12:30ish. And of course you could guess what I had without even looking at my picture! We are SUPER behind at work so I didn’t want to take much time at home. Throughout the afternoon at work I snacked on a <strong>fiber one bar</strong> and a <strong>smart food popcorn cluster</strong> for <strong>4 points</strong> total. </p> <p>Ok so I bought these SUPER cute new black dress shoes while I was in Florida. (One of the three pairs of black dress shoes I bought while there!) Anyway…today was the first day I wore them to work and by the end of the day I didn’t think they were too cute anymore…in fact I wanted to rip them off my feat and hurl them out the window!!!! Luckily I didn’t, I plan on wearing them to my SIL’s wedding in June. If my feet can take it! My question to all my wonderful bloggies is what can I do to help my poor blistered toes so this doesn’t happen again…is there anyway to make these shoes more comfortable?? Sorry for that “detour”! I thing my blog has turned into “my road to weight loss and my daily happenings”! I hope you guys are ok with that!!</p> <p>After tending to my blistered toes I toughed up and hit the pavement for a <strong>run</strong>. Abby joined me today and I quickly wished she would have stayed home. She wanted to stop and sniff every single thing!! I kept having to pull her along. So it was a slow run, but I did my normal route and got done in about <strong>25 minutes</strong> (2.5 miles) so not too bad. I dropped her off back at the house and hopped on the <strong>bike</strong> for a quick <strong>15 minute</strong> <strong>ride</strong> around the neighborhood. I guess I should remember that my legs are about a MILLION times longer than hers! But usually she is practically pulling me along! So note sure why she was lagging…must have been a rough day lazily sleeping around the house! ;) lol</p> <p>Supper tonight was a new try! And it was GREAT!! From what I’ve seen these are called “crack wraps” and I think I can only guess why!!! They are SUPER addicting!! I was reading <a href="http://becomingahotmama.wordpress.com/">Becca’s blog</a> today and came across them and had to try them right away!! You can click <a href="http://becomingahotmama.wordpress.com/2009/04/30/148/">here</a> to get “specific” instructions…but they really aren’t that hard! Just three ingredients, 1 wrap, 1 slice of ff swiss cheese, and 2T hummus. For the record hummus and I don’t go too far back. I tried it over Christmas break at my sister’s house and was NOT impressed at all. But when I saw this on Becca’s post today I thought I would give hummus another try! And I am sure glad that I did. After reading K<a href="http://iowagirleats.wordpress.com/2009/04/30/theres-something-about-smoothies/">ristin’s post today</a> I knew I wanted to FINALLY try out a homemade smoothie. I’ve had ones at Tropical Smoothie, but never made one for myself! My <strong>smoothie</strong> contained a bunch of <strong>strawberries</strong>, <strong>1 banana</strong>, <strong>1 c Almond Breeze</strong>, and a bunch of <strong>ice</strong> for <strong>4 points</strong> total and it made a TON! It is from my PartyLite show I had last Monday. I couldn’t believe how much stuff there was! It was kinda fun to get everything all set out and then put everyone’s individual orders together. The last picture is what I got for FREE!!! In total I got 12 candles and 1 diffuser. Can’t wait to burn them and see what I think! They are supposed to burn “clean”…no black stuff on the sides of the jar! Hy-Vee (our local grocery store) has something called “Wellness Wednesday” where you get 15% off everything in the health food section. I needed PB2 and of course wanted to save some extra $$! I also saw these. There were several flavors, but I chose the “<strong>chocolate cookie caramel pecan</strong>”.  The second picture has a few “high points” of the snack. They were pretty good, not too much chocolate though. Prom Night In Austin, Nevada

I just love my job!<br /><br />Last Saturday, I drove the loneliest road in America (Hy 50), the old Pony Express Trail, from Tahoe to Austin. As I came around a small mountain, I looked out over a tan-gold plain at sunset to see the snowcapped peaks of the Toiyable Range (Nevada's 2nd longest of 312 mountain ranges, a range with glacial features going back to the Pleistocene era), and had to press hard on my faith to believe a site so beautiful could be real.<br /><br />Then came a solo supper at the Toiyabe Cafe next door to our little Church. The Toiyabe Cafe is down home and unpretentious with antlers on its walls. As I was savoring my Ortega Burger, in came 4 teenagers dressed to the 9's in evening attire surprisingly well fitting. The girls were super dolled up. Their hair must have taken hours to fix. They were embarrassed by their finery and giggling compuslively to each other. The boys one could understand only if one had been a boy and had some vague memory of it. (Mine is fading.) They were awed and terrified by the girls. Mysterium tremendum, mysterim fascinans. And so they were ignoring the girls with all their might. The nervous girls sought solace in mutual silliness; the hapless boys, in mutual dufusness and thereby avoided each other.<br /><br />After rehearsing for an ordination, and moving into a room at my beloved Pony Canyon Motel, I strolled down to the International Bar. It was much as you would expect. A dark, Western bar with predicatable personalities sitting on the stools. Vic, the weathered Serbian bar tender was playing pool with Jay, the 32 year old smiling Native American (I'm guessing Western Shoshone) wearing a cowboy hat.<br /><br />On the largish tv in the corner, The Lion In Winter was showing. Stop to remember this film classic to grasp the incongruity. I got a table and watched the medieval drama unfold:<br /><br />Alice: Do you know what I want for Christmas? I want to see you suffer.<br />Eleanor of Aquataine: Alice, just for you.<br />And the two women, wife and lover of Henry II respectively, fall into each others arms weeping.<br /><br />Meanwhile a large overweight dog, whom I will learn at Church the next day is named Oso, wanders about. A woman comes in, sees Oso, and goes back to fetch her Pomeranian puppy, who trots up and down the bar -- not the floor, literally, the bar.<br /><br />Lion ends. Next film: the 1932 black and white production of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde for which Frederick March received the Oscar for Best Actor. The ranks on the bar stools are thinning out. The intimacy of the truly faithful begins to inform their discourse. The woman with the Pomeranian confesses she is saving her money for a breast reduction surgery. The guys at the bar are mightily opposed. Vic leaves the room, comes back, flings a Bible onto the bar, gives it to the woman as a gift, insisting she study the Bible diligently and it will reveal to her God's opinion of breast reduction surgery. She takes the Bible and promises to study it thoroughly.<br /><br />I am not called into this conversation -- fortunately. However, Vic does learn I am a bishop and occasionally refers the patrons to me for guidance. They look at me, laugh nervously, then look away and change the subject. But as they leave, they each and every one come by to shake hands.<br /><br />The next day, our new priest, Darla, tells me about Dynamite Bob who works at the Toiyabe. He bought a house up the hill, probed about in the basement and found several very old cases of dynamite. He stuffed sticks of dynamite in his pockets, walked downtown, and attempted to trade the dynamite for drinks. The bomb squad was called and it was an exciting day in Austin.<br /><br />Truly, there is no better town for us to have a Church.

Day 175 (Tuesday 4/28)

<p>Hey my blogger buddies!! </p> <p>I hit the pavement bright and early this morning! I didn’t have much time, but I decided to go out anyway! I ended up doing 2:1 intervals and boy were they hard! I was sprinting on the run part!!! I ended up going for about 25 minutes. Felt great when I was done! </p> <p>I had breakfast on the run today. (spent too much time with DH before I left for work…worth it tho!) <p>Happy Monday everyone!</p> <p>I had great intentions of hitting the gym this morning because I didn’t really feel like running in the rain again! :p But for some reason when my alarm went off I didn’t hear it! But 45 minutes later luckily my lil pup woke me up otherwise I would’ve missed work!</p> <p>Still trying to eat up all that fruit in my fridge! So once again it wad an oatmeal free morning. DH had to go into work. So I went for a <strong>run</strong> on the route he would take home, saw some “new” scenery, and <strong>pushed</strong> <strong>myself</strong> (BIG time!). We “ran” into each and he brought me within 4 blocks of our place…just enough for a quick little cool down. in total I ran for <strong>22 minutes</strong> and had another couple minutes of cool down. When I got back to the house I did <strong>10 minutes</strong> of <strong>lunges</strong> and <strong>abs</strong>. I love feeling that burn!! :) I know it wasn’t that long of a workout…but it’s better than nothing, right?!?</p> <p>It’s time for a little time with the hubs! Day 173 (Sunday 4/26)

<p>Happy Sunday everyone. It’s rainy and cold here today. I miss those 70 & 80 degree days we were teased with last week!</p> <p>DH and I started out the morning with church and a little grocery shopping. And we came home and crashed! I think the game and late night last night wore us out! Wait…before we crashed we had some cold cereal. I purchased some <strong>Almond Breeze</strong> a few weeks ago and FINALLY tried it. It was ok, pretty much tasted like milk. I had <strong>1 c</strong> of that with <strong>1 c crispix </strong>for <strong>3 points</strong>. But DH had other ideas! If you remember we picked up some protein powder yesterday at Sam’s and he’s been excited about that. I haven’t been too good about using the stuff I bought a while ago. I was in the kitchen cutting up strawberries and cleaning grapes and before I knew it he was back in the kitchen all dressed in his running gear! So I quickly changed and we hit the pavement…in the <strong>rain</strong> for <strong>25 minutes</strong>! It was pretty tough, but we did it! :D I did <strong>10 minutes</strong> of <strong>lunges</strong> and <strong>abs</strong> when we got back. Boy were they burning when I got done! This time I threw it in the blender with some <strong>ice</strong> and <strong>water</strong> and made it a little “<strong>slushy</strong>” for <strong>2 points</strong>. I think this is my favorite way to have a protein shake. </p> <p>I am proud to say that I have outfits picked out for all five work days this week! That is usually my hardest part in the morning! :)</p> <p>So I had to try the <strong>Oikos</strong> I picked up yesterday while we were in Des Moines. I have never had “greek yogurt” before so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I tried the <strong>vanilla</strong> flavor since that is what I usually use in my <strong>strawberries</strong> and <strong>grape nut</strong> combo for <strong>4</strong> <strong>points</strong>. It is more creamy than regular yogurt and not near as sweet, but it adds more protein and calcium! It was a great addition to the strawberries and yogurt. They have a lot of recipes on their website so I am excited to try it other ways too! Day 172 (Saturday 4/25)

<p>Happy Saturday everyone! Unfortunately it isn’t as bright and sunny here as it has been the past few days. It is actually pretty cold, windy, and rainy. Perfect day to stay in and get stuff done in the house!</p><p>I was hoping to sleep in a bit today because DH didn’t schedule himself until 10am, but Abby (my lil pup) had other ideas. She was hopping around and pawing on the bed at 6:40am. Oh well! I guess I have more time to get stuff done! I got up and let her out and I think that made her one happy little puppy. Lucky for her though she can crawl right back into bed and fall back asleep, for some reason I just can’t do that!</p><p>I cleaned a little around the house and got some laundry going. DH headed off for work and I bundled up and headed outside for a <strong>run</strong>. Boy oh boy was that hard today. Running against the cold wind, the cramp that would not leave me right side alone…but I pressed on. I did stop for a few more <strong>walk</strong> breaks than normal. I ended up going for about <strong>30 minutes</strong> total. When I got home I ended my workout with <strong>10 minutes</strong> of <strong>abs</strong> and <strong>lunges</strong>. </p><p>I noticed this morning that I never did a re-cap of my March goals and didn’t post my April goals. Now I know you are thinking that there is only 1 week of April left…but hey I still need to work towards something right?!?!</p><p align="center"><strong>March Goals</strong></p><p align="left"><strong>1. No cool whip for Lent</strong> – <em>ACCOMPLISHED</em> - <em>I didn’t have ANY cool whip during the month of March!</em></p><p align="left"><strong>2. I am ok with that though. I have been maintaining. I would really like to maintain closer to 155 though. This morning the scale said 161.5. I would really like to be 160 (or less!) at ww on Tuesday, but we’ll see what happens. I am trying not to worry about the number so much but more how I feel. And right now I feel pretty dang good! :)</p><p align="left">Sorry for that little detour off my day! :)</p><p align="left">After my run I cleaned up a bit and ran some errands. I gave myself a time constraint to make it home by noon, but I think I gave myself too little time and too many things to do. And it is also IMPOSSIBLE to go to Target in my town without seeing someone I know! So I ran to the bank, post office, tanned, picked up a few things at Target (chatted with some friends! ;) ), and filled my vehicle up with gas…I was hoping to do all this in 45 minutes…but it was more like 1 hour and ten minutes! It’s ok tho!</p><p align="left">I rushed home and turned on the oven right away. Today is DH’s boss’ birthday and DH wanted me to bake some cookies to take in to them at work today. Now at first I thought “no problem”, but then I was like “oh crap”…"i love cookie dough!” But I am proud to say that I was STRONG and didn’t eat ANY cookie dough at all!! Well…back up a minute, actually when I was done I got a bit on my finger from the bowl so I went ahead and licked it like the “old Darci” would have done and before I could swallow I was “What am I doing?" and I spit it out!!! :) So pretty much I didn’t eat any cookie dough…unless there was some that absorbed in my mouth for those few seconds it took me to realize it wasn’t worth eating it! First off we stopped off at Hy-Vee (grocery store) to use the free coupons the great folks over at Stoneyfield Farms sent me. It’s pretty casual, but oh so good! :) We started out with the <strong>1/2 size of onion rings</strong> (i had 3), then I got the <strong>chicken</strong> <strong>tender</strong> <strong>wrapper</strong> with <strong>corn</strong>. They actually brought it to me with fries…I was tempted to just eat them ‘cause I don’t like to complain about food, but I figured this time it would be ok! I am estimating my total <strong>points</strong> around <strong>15</strong>. Do you think that sounds right?
