Barbara Park, author of the infamous children's book series 'Junie B. Jones,' has passed away at age 66.

Park died on Friday after a long battle with ovarian cancer, according to a statement released Sunday by Random House Books for Young Readers, ABC notes.

Park lived in Scottsdale, Arizona, with her husband Richard and two sons.

Park's books about a young, smart-mouthed, troublesome girl were not too far off from her own childhood experiences. The Sun reported that Park once confessed she too was a troublemaker, often finding herself in the principal's office.

Park although extremely successful, found herself to be quite childish, once explaining, 'I don't have a problem being 6 years old in my head. It's almost embarrassing; if I'm talking to librarians or teachers who know my books and they say, 'How do you do this?' It's not a stretch.'

In addition to writing the 'Junie B. Jones' series, Park wrote picture books, novels and even a Hallmark greeting card.

Park lived a proud and passionate life. She helped found Sisters in Survival, a charitable organization that raises money for women with ovarian cancer, while she was alive.
