<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Cheers Chuckleheads and Happy Friday to you all.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN7HamGc3v_cqgvtRYovV6vdp5rmEvLLrM1NjoUW_680FQGkJwP9ARy_K04zG8IRsMo0HUF6IVMQfcUjkrmfiVax9zw7J6aFeg9qvQBx0Efx5HB2iUXJLkVUlY5qQUTgbVLmMSUCyDcqw/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN7HamGc3v_cqgvtRYovV6vdp5rmEvLLrM1NjoUW_680FQGkJwP9ARy_K04zG8IRsMo0HUF6IVMQfcUjkrmfiVax9zw7J6aFeg9qvQBx0Efx5HB2iUXJLkVUlY5qQUTgbVLmMSUCyDcqw/s400/002.JPG" width="400" /></a>The past couple of days both on the <i><a href="http://news-these-days.blogspot.com/search/label/Human%20Trafficking%20Awareness" target="_blank"><span style="color: blue;">IWS website</span></a> </i>and Wednesday’s <i><span style="color: blue;">I<a href="http://www.blogtalkradio.com/im-with-stupid/2013/01/09/human-trafficking" target="_blank">WS Radio show</a></span></i>, Jayman and I covered the topic of Human Trafficking.  It is an important topic to cover, to expose, and we are glad that we did, but, well?<br /><br />It’s not the most joy inducing topic to cover, so today?  I’m going to write about something that is just plain syrupy sweet, and smile bearing.<br /><br />Many of you know that my BFF/OSP got very sick in late October, had major surgery in mid-December which was quite successful by the way, but we had an incredibly difficult time getting unemployment for her <strike>due her to her dickhead of a boss </strike>and thus she had and has, yet to receive any type of paycheck or unemployment compensation since November 9th.<br /><br />Prior to her illness, Schmoop and I had it going on financially.  We had just paid off the car, and while not rich or even well off, we were, <i>“we can occasionally order a pizza on a weekday without the worry if we have the money”</i> comfortable.<br /><br />And then…<br /><br />Like many Americans, our financial comfort zone, which relies on two people working to make ends meet and occasionally having the aforementioned pizza, took a nosedive due to an illness.<br /><br />With this knowledge in hand, my dear friend and radio partner Jayman, along with the wonderful, yet never get drunk with her on your couch,<span style="color: blue;"> <i><a href="http://www.blogher.com/frame.php?url=http://amidlifescrises.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Dana</a></i></span>, set up the <i>WeLoveSchmoop</i> fund on PayPal, in hopes of getting Schmoop and I through the time until she would get some type of compensation.<br /><br />Well, you lovable incorrigibles, it worked!!<br /><br />Schmoop is going back to work for 25 hours a week for awhile starting Monday.  Yes, we could fight the appeal to her unemployment leveled by her inconsiderate, and selfish boss, and win, but that could take another six weeks, and we can’t afford that, but…<br /><br />Thanks to Jayman and <a href="http://www.blogher.com/frame.php?url=http://amidlifescrises.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><i><span style="color: blue;">Dana</span></i></a> starting the <i>WeLoveSchmoop</i> fund, we can somewhat relax, thank them, and thank all of you for your generous response to it.<br /><br />Because of your kindness, we made our December rent, our bills, and we should squeak by this month as well. And for that, and to all of you, we are eternally grateful.<br /><br />In addition to Jay and Dana who began the fund, I want to thank those of you who contributed, but in order to avoid awkwardness, I will thank you by first name only.<br /><br /><i>Jamie, Katherine, Mike, Dana, Jon, Jay, Katherine, Russel, Sherri, Angie, Rene, LMT, Linda, Kelley, (a different) Katherine, and Sarah.</i><br /><br />We would not have made it if it weren't for the generosity of you fine folks, so may your God bless you, and thank you.<br /><br />In addition to all of you, Schmoop’s brother David and my brothers were incalculably helpful and thoughtful throughout this situation. It noted the United States has a highly fragmented health care system, with limited primary care resources and a large uninsured population. Qualification Requirements: The qualifications required would generally be acquired with a Master of Library Science Degree and over five years if increasingly responsible professional library experience, including three years in a supervisory position of a public library major department or as a director of a smaller public library; or an equivalent combination of education, work experience and training. Position Summary: This position is located in the Library of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Connecticut, a four-year, accredited, degree granting institution and center of leadership development for the Coast Guard. The instant position reports to the Library Director and is a member of the Technical Services team led by the Systems Librarian/Head of Technical Services. The incumbent employs standard methods, techniques, concepts, and principles of librarianship to provide professional library services, such as cataloging and classifying materials and maintaining library collections. The incumbent assists the Systems Librarian in the authentication, activation and maintenance of access to paper and electronic serials. The employee is expected and to stay abreast of technology changes, and may make recommendations for improvements to cataloging and serial policies and procedures and workflows. II. Major Duties and Responsibilities: A. Catalogs and classifies materials, including serials, electronic resources, DVDs, microforms, and archives using established local practices and national and international standards such as Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, MARC, Resource Description and Access(RDA), Library of Congress Subject Headings and classification schedules, and other metadata standards. B. Performs database maintenance when needed in the course of daily work or as a part of projects. C. Maintains quality control standards in own work by checking for and correcting errors. D. Works with the Systems Librarian to maintain Serials Solutions products, library catalog, and electronic resources and provides other systems support as required. F. Supports and helps train library technicians assigned to copy cataloging, database maintenance, processing materials, and maintaining serials. G. Assists in maintaining library collections, including government documents, special and Coast Guard collections, serials, and microforms. Assists with planning and coordinating the shifting of the collections as necessary. H. Assists in the preparation of administrative reports and maintains statistics. Helps establish policies and procedures for cataloging and serials. I. Participates in rotations at the Circulation/Reference Desk. J. Serves on library and Academy committees as appropriate. Actively participates on any assigned teams. Team tasks may include: fourth class cadet library tours, participating in the physical property inventory, shelf-reading, etc. Key Requirements: U.S. Citizenship is required. But how big? This could be separated into three bullet points to make a stronger statement.<br />B. The repetitive language should be removed, and there should be individual bullet points with clear descriptions of each qualification.<br />C. Leave this as is.</div><div style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; text-align: left;"><strong>3. "Professional experience: Independent business consultant at ABC Co., 2006-present; account executive at JRR Sales Co., September 2000-April 2006; cashier at Jerry's Ice Cream Shop, June 2003-April 2006."</strong><br />A. Bullet points should follow each title, as well as daily tasks performed.<br />B. The only work experience listed should be relevant to the job you're interested in and should include three to four bullet points of major accomplishments that relate to the position for which you're applying.<br />C. This is fine, as long as the location of each business is also included.</div><div style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; text-align: left;"><strong>4. "Education: College University, Class of 1998."</strong><br />A. Include the school's location.<br />B. Include the school's location, your degree information and any training or certificates received. Revise the title to say, "Education and training."<br />C. You may want to edit your résumé so it's more concise. In each section, ask yourself if the hiring manager would find that information helpful, relevant and easy to understand. Résumé space is too valuable to be wasted on unnecessary information.</div><div style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; text-align: left;"><strong>Mostly B's: </strong>Your résumé rephrasing skills are top-notch. You clearly took the time to research the position you're applying for, and you're able to communicate your personality and experience in your résumé. You've likely included only relevant information on your résumé and everything included supports why you're the best candidate for the job.</div><div style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; text-align: left;"><strong>Mostly C's: </strong>Although minimalism can be an attractive quality in business, your answers indicate that you're holding back on your résumé. Hiring managers can go through thousands of job applications when searching for the right candidate, and it's important that you stand out from your competition by showcasing your individuality, experience and personality.
