For the first time since Week 6, Matt Schaub returned to the Texans lineup Sunday and, well, it didn't go so well. Case Keenum had been impressive in his first two starts, throwing for 621 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. But after going 22-of-43 for 201 yards with 3 TDs and no picks against the Raiders, and with Houston trailing Oakland by 11 points in the third quarter, coach Gary Kubiak decided to turn to Schaub.
Turns out, that was an awful idea.
With the Texans trailing 28-23 and 1:15 left in the game, things came to a head when Schaub's fourth-down pass intended for Andre Johnson fell incomplete. That development led to the usually reserved Johnson having words with Schaub on the sidelines.
Having seen enough, Johnson then made his way to the locker room, even though there were 58 seconds left on the clock.
(CBS)Sunday's defeat to the Raiders was the Texans' eighth straight loss of the season. They're now 2-8.
