I know what you’re thinking: the official start to the holiday shopping season is nearly upon us. OF course, Thanksgiving Day 2013 is coming fast, and with that comes all the madness that is Black Friday 2013. Of course, with stores pushing openings intoThanksgiving night over the past few years, the 5am start times for “doorbuster” sales holds less appeal than ever.
In preparation for Black Friday 2013, many shoppers head to sites that leak the sales of Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Sears, Target, and much more. Without a doubt, savvy shoppers can score a deal or two, and many can score even better or just as well without even leaving the house thanks to all those deals being duplicated online with even more sales to follow on the Monday after, typically dubbed Cyber Monday.
One website, I4U.com, touts the $119 value bundle of the Nintendo DsI XL from Wal-Mart as being one of the best deals of the year, and while it is a nice price on the handheld gaming system, one has to wonder if these prices will not be duplicated or lower as Christmas nears.
Crowds are as much a part of the special sales as are low prices, and it is not uncommon for shoppers to not play nice, which is really just another reason to shop from home for many people. Black Friday 2013 will probably feature many great prices, and set the tone for the holiday shopping season for numerous retailers.
Still, with the hours creeping into Thanksgiving dinner for many families, and the employees of the various retail stores being on the hook for getting all that merchandise onto the floor and through the cash register, Thanksgiving seems almost a little lost.
