As reported by TMZ, “20/20″ co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas has been absent from the show for weeks because she is spending a stint in rehab to treat her alcohol addiction.
The reporter released a statement saying: ”I realized I was becoming increasingly dependent on alcohol. And I feel fortunate to have recognized it for the problem it was becoming.”
She continued to admit “”Like so many others, I will deal with this challenge one day at a time.”
Vargas will stay in treatment for a few more weeks to come until she is confident with her ability to remain sober.
