Our brothers and sisters in Ontario are fending off a corporate-backed effort to pass a No Rights At Work law. The Libertarian Hypocrisy Test

Ever find yourself in a discussion with a self-proclaimed "libertarian" who believes in "free markets?" They can't accept that some rich people aren't rich because they deserve it, but because they pillaged, looted and plundered and then got away with it.<br /><br />Our friend R.J. Eskow wrote a great piece for <a href="http://www.salon.com/2013/09/12/11_questions_to_see_if_libertarians_are_hypocrites/" rel="nofollow">Salon</a> in which he exposes the nuttiness of the libertarian beliefs that order in society arises "spontaneously" and that market forces always produce the best outcome.<br /><br />The <strike><a href="http://benedict%20arnold/" rel="nofollow">Benedict Arnold</a></strike> Koch brothers are big advocates of what they call libertarianism. They spend millions on think tanks and front groups that claim to promote libertarian views -- mostly because that sounds better than "we're tools of greedy corporations." The brothers are notorious for benefiting from huge amounts of government largesse while demanding spending cuts for everyone else. They get big government contracts, enormous ethanol subsidies, use taxpayer-funded roads for logging operations and graze their cattle for free on federal land.<br /><br />So if you find yourself talking to someone who claims to be a libertarian, try the Libertarian Hypocrisy Test out on them:<br /><ol><li>Are unions examples of "spontaneous order"?</li><li>Are you willing to admit that production is the result of many forces, each of which needs to be rewarded?</li><li>Can you acknowledge that employees who bargain with their employer, either individually or collectively, are employing market forces?</li><li>Are you willing to admit that the "free market" requires regulation?</li><li>Do you believe in democracy? They oppose putting U.S. workers at a disadvantage and U.S. consumers at risk. They’ve seen enough lost jobs, shuttered plants and hollowed-out communities.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana;"></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana;">It's time to rebuild the middle class, not tear it down, and that means only approving trade deals that benefit working Americans. Taking Responsibility

That's what I've set out to do, to take responsibility.  Seems silly for me to even say that, I'm extremely responsible.  Work stuff, not so much, but that's more a boredom and procrastination issue than being irresponsible.<br /><br />Much of my life has been essentially devoted to making everybody happy, to make everything run smoothly and efficiently, and basically to make everything perfect.  I take it personally when I can't make others laugh or when we hit bumps in the road were preventable.  Anything short of ideal I see as a personal failure.  I understand this is something I need to learn to move past but it's deeply ingrained in my personality.<br /><br />My old shrink "Sweets" has been found. We broke up a few months ago when he moved to a new practice and a non-compete agreement prevented him from seeing me.  I found him at the new place and we're just not going to transfer my records to make it all okay on his end.<br /><br />It felt good to be back.  He already has a good grasp on my nutty little head and doesn't judge my often questionable choices.  I laugh at me and it gets him laughing.  It makes for a good time and he was glad to have me back.<br /><br />I've become comfortable in that questionable little gray area of not quite right even though it's not wrong. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can

Happy Monday Peeps!  <br /><br />I hope you had a grand weekend!!  <br /><br />I left my posting last week saying I was losing motivation.  While that is normal for anyone losing weight, it's always great to have a wonderful support system to help boost you back where you need to be.  I haven't necessarily hit a "plato" of sorts, I am just frustrated.  I think I keep looking at the bigger picture in terms of weight loss and it just seemed impossible.<br /><br />Remember back when I first started this journey, I set a bunch of smaller goals.  I let myself look beyond that when I should have stayed focused on the smaller goals because, after all, I am meeting them!!!<br /><br />To remind you of the next two goals I have:  <br /><br />1. is in about 13 pounds (from my last weigh in) I will be on a "lower" notch of the scale at the doctor's office.  If you are at all familiar with the scales at the doctors office, you will know that there are two parts to the scale.  The first part is in the 50 pound increments - 50, 100, 150 etc. and the second part is in the 1 pound increment of 1 - 49.  When I first weighed in, the bottom bracket was 250 and the top was 43 = 293 pounds.  At my last weigh in, the bottom was 250 and the top was 12 = 262.  When I lose 13 pounds, I will be able to move that bottom number to 200!!  With that at 200 and the top number at 49 = 249.  <br /><br />2.  My 2nd short term goal is to lose total 50 pounds - that only  19 pounds from my last weigh in and only 4 more pounds from the 1st goal listed.  <br /><br />So, those are the goals I need to focus on vs. the overall LARGE overwhelming number LOL. <br /><br />I took a vacation day Friday to do some volunteer work.  When I came to the office today, this is what I found on my wall:<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmNeHlmu3qhX2T0Gwq4LL0OJS-Fsi1chcdQm1bNI-gL-mMZmplEjdH2AglSLYpQZfRMjcN37Mbr-j1IzNwjSqDiMe1MZghaqHIvDJo8VAYEFcys6fBN6lqPhbszcm06oTXcakFtUvnzBs/s1600/IMG_0234%5B1%5D.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmNeHlmu3qhX2T0Gwq4LL0OJS-Fsi1chcdQm1bNI-gL-mMZmplEjdH2AglSLYpQZfRMjcN37Mbr-j1IzNwjSqDiMe1MZghaqHIvDJo8VAYEFcys6fBN6lqPhbszcm06oTXcakFtUvnzBs/s320/IMG_0234%5B1%5D.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><br />Being bright neon pink, you can't miss it when you walk in the door.  When I moved around to my desk, another co-worker had laminated 3 sets of another "motivation" (so I can have one at home to):<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnOpoSghc0nOIAuL2S2-9sUBzY2vuJVa-9AM9rK0FvDXiWvqWoT7xxStFpLU_Dh2RYvSsMAxZXxnuVBWbC5uN3ANSTm1y5n-B-3x6dwPlJDfWgGgn0iyDCFrwqX3Z7EodIoAMVuLWngvc/s1600/IMG_0232%5B1%5D.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnOpoSghc0nOIAuL2S2-9sUBzY2vuJVa-9AM9rK0FvDXiWvqWoT7xxStFpLU_Dh2RYvSsMAxZXxnuVBWbC5uN3ANSTm1y5n-B-3x6dwPlJDfWgGgn0iyDCFrwqX3Z7EodIoAMVuLWngvc/s320/IMG_0232%5B1%5D.JPG" /></a></div><br />So, just like any addiction recovery, support is necessary.  Food is my addiction.  <br /><br />Have a fabulous Monday!<br /><br />Ellie<br /><br />

Seasonal home decorating

I've been inspired by my friends in Pennsylvania to decorate my front door for Autumn.  They have put some pumpkins at the entranceway to their home along with some autumnal coloured plants in pots which looks very sweet and festive.<div><br></div><div>I plan on making a wreath for my front door and also for my mothers front door.
