Wolverine Getting a Thrid, But Will the Deadpool Movie Ever Get Made?

<div class="MsoNormal">I know what you’re thinking:  comic books have never been hotter as source material, Wolverine keeps popping up at the multiplex, John Constantine is probably coming to TV next year, the Avengers are flying, The Walking Dead is a juggernaut for AMC (get it!!) and a ton of other superheroes are making tremendous headway, but where is the Deadpool movie?<o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/31500000/Deadpool-blindbandit92-tamar20-31552919-1920-1080.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/31500000/Deadpool-blindbandit92-tamar20-31552919-1920-1080.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">According to The Verge, Fox is in talks to make a <a href="http://www.theverge.com/2013/11/5/5071290/fox-wants-hugh-jackman-back-for-third-wolverine-movie">third movie</a> centered around a single X-Men character, which would be Wolverine.  Really, who can blame them because Hugh Jackman manages to totally own the character when slips into that persona.  While Deadpool may not have the PG-13 appeal of Logan, he certainly manages to have a large fan base as well.<o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">According to The Playlist, the Deadpool movie is <a href="http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/tim-miller-says-he-will-never-let-go-of-meta-deadpool-movie-that-studio-entire-world-has-moved-on-from-20131104">on the back burner</a>, which may or may not have to do with a lack of confidence in Ryan Reynolds after the whole “Green Lantern” and “RIPD” fiascos.  I have to wonder that if another actor was attached to the Wade Wilson role if studios would not be more welcoming. <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Just speaking off the cuff:  Deadpool will likely not be a career defining role for anyone, I love the character dearly, but this is not exactly Oscar material.  It needs to be an R-Rated film that really suits the character.<o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">I’m not sure what studios require in the way of green lighting a movie, but obviously Reynolds and the folks he has on his side are not inspiring a ton of faith from studios.  Reynolds only played Wilson (a rather distorted version of Deadpool) once for a few minutes, maybe some new blood is required to get the project moving forward. <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><br /><div class="MsoNormal">So who would I cast as Deadpool?  I really don’t have a clue, because my first choice would have been the late Heath Ledger.<o:p></o:p></div>

John Constantine and Swamp Thing #37 Set for Massive Popularity Boost

<div class="MsoNormal">Okay loyal comic book enthusiasts, what is going to be the next hot back issue to pick up in the coming years?  I know what you’re thinking, having a bit of foresight is actually akin to a super power.  However, for me one of the best investments right now is Saga of the Swamp Thing #37, which is the debut of (The) John Constantine.<o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Just like the sports card market, which is driven by demand (got to love the old supply and demand point counterpoints), the number of fans a character has directly impacts the value of their appearances.  The scarcer the comic, the more high priced (and hard to find) it becomes, think of it as a seller’s market.  Key issues of books can relate greatly to the first appearance of a character, New Mutants #87, Incredible Hulk #181, and Uncanny X-Men #266 are just a few examples, like Swamp Thing #37 that pop into my head.  (First appearances of Deadpool, Wolverine, and Gambit for those not following the logic.)<o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/square_small/0/9116/2197875-37.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/square_small/0/9116/2197875-37.jpg" /></a></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Image from <a href="http://www.comicvine.com/invunche/4005-74211/">Comic Vine</a></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">John Constantine is poised to gather a few more fans.  There is a Justice League Dark movie in the works, which according to Screen Rant might <a href="http://screenrant.com/justice-league-dark-heaven-sent-update-guillermo-del-toro/">make it to theaters before</a> the actual Justice League movie, and of course, NBC is working on debuting a <a href="http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/27/4777012/constantine-tv-series-is-being-developed-by-nbc">Constantine based television show</a>.  If done well, the result will be a few more fans of the old magic wielding chain smoking smart ass guy in a trench coat.<o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Hey the book is already pricey at the comic book store or on eBay, but you can find raw values anywhere from $20-$40.  Graded copies can get out of hand quickly, especially the high grades, because there just aren’t too many of these to go around.<o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><br /><div class="MsoNormal">The short end is that putting $40 to $80 down on a character with a massive following already add in a television show and a movie (oh, I loved the Keanu Reeves “Constantine” BTW, not the same as Hellblazer, but he owned the character he was presented), and the sky could be the limit.<o:p></o:p></div>
