The 56th annual Grammy awards took place Sunday night and while the show was full of controversy, the red carpet left a lot to be desired. The carpet was full of shimmer plunging necklines and sheer gowns, most of which were worn all the wrong way.

Country singer and nominee Taylor Swift wore gold lamé short-sleeve column dress with intricate crystal overlay by Gucci. Model Chrissy Teigen, whose husband, John Legend performed that night wore a gold gown with deep cleavage by designer Johanna Johnson. Rita Ora donned an olive green long sleeved shimmering Lanvin gown. All of which closely resembled a disco ball out of Studio 54. The only stars that appeared to have gotten the shimmering concept right were model and wife of rapper and nominee Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose as well as R&B singer Ciara. Rose wore a form fitting floor length sleeveless Naeem Kahn gown and Ciara, who is engaged to and currently pregnant by rapper Future wore a fitted gold embellished Emilio Pucci gown which beautifully accentuated her baby bump.

There was also a blatant lack of necklines on the red carpet, made evident by stars like Alicia Keys, Miranda Lambert and others. Keys, wore an electric blue Armani
Prive gown with a neckline that didn't begin until it hit her belly button. Think Jenifer Lopez at the 1999 Grammy’s but far less eye catching and glamorous. Country singer and wife of Blake Sheldon, Miranda Lambert wore a floor length form fitting red Pamella Roland, and while it wasn’t awful, it was boring. Singer Kaya Jones must have mistaken the Grammy red carpet for a dominatrix convention because of her choice to wear what appeared to be a jet black liquid latex gown with spaghetti straps. Star of the film Pitch Perfect, Anna Kendrick wore a grey Azzaro dress that looked like it was too big for her. Actress Julia Roberts was the only starlet that donned the plunging neckline trend, the right way. Roberts wore a black knee length, three quarter length sleeved Elie Saab gown that was not only age appropriate but gorgeous on her complexion as well.

Finally, there were the women who donned the carpet in the sheerest of sheer. Katy Perry wore a nude sheer Valentino gown that was covered in music notes and made her look like a ballerina gone wrong. Grammy award winner and performer Beyonce’ donned a sheer white floor length long sleeved gown that would have been gorgeous had her hair not looked like a pack of Ramen noodles and the bottom didn’t resemble a senior citizens curtain. Singer Colbie Caillat looked stuffed in a red one sleeved sheer Ezra Couture gown.

All in all, my best dressed pick doesn't come from a woman at all. In fact it comes from Grammy award winning French electronic duo, Daft Punk. They kept their look simple; black suits, bow ties and they signature and oddly
                                         fashionable helmets.
