Live near or right on the beach.  Preferably a beach side condo, but at really anywhere in a town that is on the beach would be great. <br /><br />2. Eat a dinner in a really fancy "tie and jacket required" restaurant that is pretty famous.  Something like "Tavern on the Green" or "The Four Seasons."<br /><br />3. Visit Israel.  I think this would be the most amazing trip ever.<br /><br />4. Own a muscle car. Visit my family's ancestral home of County Armagh, Ireland.  And County Durham, England where they moved to before moving to the U.S.  And while there meeting some of my distant relatives.<br /><br />6. Visit Civil War battlefields such as Gettysburg, Vicksburg and Manassas. And WWII battlefields in Europe too.<br /><br />7. Read every book on the "Most Challenged Book List."<br /><br />8. Attend an NHL, NFL and EPL game in person.  (I've already attended MLB and NBA games.)<br /><br />9. Get a media pass to a major sporting event and be allowed to photograph it from field (or court) level.<br /><br />10. Visit a Nevada brothel.  What? That would be a pretty unique experience!<br /><br />11. Hike the Grand Canyon.<br /><br />12. Drive across the country going from town to town in a Van that I can sleep in if I want.  Just seeing the sights and visiting famous places and roadside attractions and meeting people from all walks of life. <br /><br />13. Anonymously purchase a new fire truck, ambulance or police car for a small town that is in need of one but doesn't have the money.<br /><br />14. Visit New York City.  Stay in a nice hotel with great amenities, eat at Bobby Flay and Emeril Lagasse's restaurants and see all the sights and visit all the museums.<br /><br />15. Learn to play either the piano or guitar. Then play on a street corner for donations.<br /><br />16. Learn Spanish or French.<br /><br />17. Live in a foreign country. Mexico, the U.K, the Netherlands, France or possibly Thailand. Not permanently, but maybe for a few years.<br /><br />18.  Get paid to do something really cool and fun like ... IDK .. host an <a href="http://www.blogtalkradio.com/im-with-stupid" target="_blank">internet radio show</a> maybe. haha<br /><br />19. Buy my mother a nice condo that she is comfy living in.<br /><br />20. Live in a house with a yard where I can have a garden and a dog.<br /><br />21. Help someone build a house.<br /><br />22. Sit down and have a conversation with a sitting President. Or play President Obama in a game of H.O.R.S.E. (Or even toss a baseball around with Pres Bush or toss a football around with Pres Clinton.)<br /><br />23. Get something I wrote published and get paid for it. Doesn't really matter what or where or anything like that.<br /><br />24. Scuba dive in a shark cage with sharks in the water.<br /><br />25. Meet all of my blogging and twittering buddies.<br /><br />26. Pat Robertson Shows Craziness of the Tithing Doctrine If Taken to Logical Conclusion

If you haven't heard the latest craziness from Pat Robertson, this one is worth a listen.<br /><br />He tells one of his elderly viewers on a fixed income that they still must tithe their paltry income in order to "rebuke the devourer". He even says that her husband is sick precisely because she is not tithing.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wur_jxYG4-E" width="420"></iframe> </div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i><b>"Your husband has all these medical problems because the 'devourer' has not been rebuked. You need to rebuke him. You give your tithes faithfully and God said 'I will rebuke the devourer, the person that is eating up your money and eating up your health.'"</b></i></span></div><br />That is Pat's response to an elderly woman asking Pat if she should continue to tithe on her fixed income despite being poor. She wonders if she should instead use tithe money to pay for her husband's medial expenses. Sad to think that she doesn't know the answer to the question, sadder still that she thinks Pat Robertson is the person who can give her the answer.<br /><br />Before you dismiss this as just "crazy 'ole Pat" doing what he does...consider that he is logically extending the tithing nonsense that evangelical preachers like Steve Gaines, Perry Noble, Robert Morris, Ed Young and others teach to their followers. Pat is practically applying the false theology that a Christian is obligated to fork over their first 10% of income to the church in order to secure God's blessings and to avoid God's cursings.<br /><br />As nutty as Pat sounds, if what Robert Morris and Perry Noble and Steve Gaines and Ed Young preaches on tithing is true, then what Pat is saying makes perfect sense - that yes, even an elderly person on Social Security should FIRST give 10% of her Social Security check to Ed Young's church before she thinks about paying for her husband's medical care. And oh by the way, if she would only give more money, her husband wouldn't be so sick in the first place.<br /><br />Hence, as more of these mega church pastors push this storehouse tithing nonsense, the more modern evangelicalism is moving down a road that is not sustainable beyond the current generation of gullible sheep who tolerate it.

Why outsourcing sucks: Xerox food stamp debacle

If you thought government runs the food stamp program, you would be wrong. Government outsources the management of the electronic benefit transfer systems to <a href="http://www.rbj.net/article.asp?aID=194582" rel="nofollow">Xerox Corp., a company that paid its CEO $13 million last year</a>.<br /><br />Xerox apparently didn't invest its profit in redundant technology. Some sort of technology failure on Saturday -- nobody has really explained what it was -- caused the EBT system to shut down in 17 states. Millions of poor Americans were unable to buy groceries.<br /><br />This is why we shouldn't cede control of essential government services to corporations.<br /><br />The <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/food-stamp-debit-cards-working-states-20553954" rel="nofollow">Associated Press</a> reported on the chaos that erupted:<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">Shoppers left carts of groceries behind at a packed Market Basket grocery store in Biddeford, Maine, because they couldn't get their benefits, said shopper Barbara Colman, of Saco, Maine. The manager put up a sign saying the EBT system was not in use. Colman, who receives the benefits, called an 800 telephone line for the program and it said the system was down due to maintenance, she said.</blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">"That's a problem. There are a lot of families who are not going to be able to feed children because the system is being maintenanced," Colman said. She planned to reach out to local officials. "You don't want children going hungry tonight because of stupidity," she said... </blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">...states affected by the temporary outage also included Alabama, California, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia...</blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">In Clarksdale, Miss. — one of the poorest parts of one of the poorest states in the nation — cashier Eliza Shook said dozens of customers at Corner Grocery had to put back groceries when the cards failed Saturday because they couldn't afford to pay for the food. After several hours, she put a sign on the front door to tell people about the problem. </blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">"It's been terrible," Shook said in a phone interview. "It's just been some angry folks. That's what a lot of folks depend on." </blockquote>The whole debacle suggests Xerox was cutting corners somewhere to increase its profit, and poor people paid the price. Unfortunately, American citizens can't vote Xerox out of office. That's the real downside of outsourcing.<br /><br />And if you think poor people shouldn't get food stamps because taxpayers can't afford to pay for them, perhaps you agree that taxpayers also can't afford Xerox CEO's $13 million pay package.<br /><br />On a brighter note, the same glitch that caused the food stamp system to shut down also eliminated spending limits on some EBT cards in Louisiana. Here's what happened, according to the <a href="http://www.csmonitor.com/Business/Latest-News-Wires/2013/1015/Walmart-Food-stamps-spree-caused-by-Xerox" rel="nofollow">Christian Science Monitor</a>:<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">When word got out Saturday that the EBT cards were showing no limits, card holders rushed to area Walmarts to take advantage. </blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">"Some people had eight or 10 shopping carts full of groceries," Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd said on Monday.</blockquote>Now Xerox and Walmart are pointing fingers at each other.
