GORGEOUS DAY FOR WALKING!!

Happy Saturday Peeps.  <br /><br />As I mentioned this week - I found my mojo and today I got up and headed over to Hermann Park to do a little walking and took some awesome photos.  I have had to cut back on the Belviq because I can't the RX fill until the 16th so I am taking 1 a day - Man, what a difference.  I was WANTING to stop by every burger place haha! <br /><br />But, you will be happy to know, MY WILL POWER prevailed!  I enjoyed a healthy salad and smoothie while sitting out by the pond.  <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; I wondered why he chose to take a walk without me, my brother, Jethro, and his beloved wife, Jenny.</b></span></span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>When Jenny returned home from work to an empty house, she discovered a note on Robert’s computer stating  he was taking one last walk along our favorite forest path. Next to his computer lie his keys, wallet, cell phone and an empty gun case. She was so terribly pained and saddened by such a final scene. She learned that Robert chose to take his own life in order to stop the pain he carried in his head and heart. Other clues revealed that he studied the definition of “forgiveness” and asked for forgiveness for the harm he had caused for the act he was about to commit. His blog entries provided visual suggestions of his struggles.  (robertsphotoart.blogspot.com)</b></span></span></div><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b> </b></span></span><br /><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Jenny had never understood how much he suffered from overwhelming depression until that day when he moved “beyond the wall.” The pain she now carries in her own head and heart is heavy and hard to bear for Robert was such a beautiful person and a dream come true in Jenny’s life, and I knew it.</b></span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>When  lived in Round Valley, Robert first began to court her.  I would be ecstatic when his car pulled into the driveway. My landlord finally had to confront Robert and ask what was so special about him. Did he carry fishsticks in his pockets or what?  No, I knew true love and knew that Jenny and he were meant for one another and insured that they remain together and get married.  Jenny was blessed with over three years of shared memories with Robert. He lifted her up, gave her joy, and helped her believe in herself. She swore he was the most honest, intelligent, kindest, gentlest, sweetest soul on earth…and I think she was right, too.</b></span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>She and Robert created the Rim Country Informant as a labor of love and a desire to give voice to that portion of the community that was multi-talented, generous, kind, and caring. They liked to share a side of the Rim Country that was overflowing with love and goodness, creativity and generosity. Alas, without Robert’s extreme talent in publishing and design skills, computer knowledge and creativity, the Informant will be no longer. Darn, Tucker’s Tale’s may be coming to an end.</b></span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>I wanted to share this last tale with all those who loved and cared for Robert’s kind spirit and honest, goodhearted principles. She never knew that so many shared her sentiments about her special husband. She wished that Robert had known how much love, respect, and appreciation he had gained from all the lives he had touched. His tale was far too short. Perhaps, with the proper professional help, he might still be with us today. And so I ask that those  who may be suffering from deep-seated depression, get help, please. It’s been clear  to us that <a href="http://ecowatch.com/2013/05/22/could-federal-bill-lead-death-plastic-bags/">plastic bag recycling</a> does  not work and this is more proof. While the plastics industry and  manufacturers often push for curbside recycling because of the  convenience, the message to take certain items back does not work  without a financial incentive.</b></span></span></div><br /><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Here’s an except from the <a href="http://www.dailyjournal.net/view/story/5501d61fdc79422bba3c0f9936bc7f0c/CA--Plastic-Bags-Forgotten-Law/#.UnFfJySvyKM">AP report</a> the the <em>Daily Journal</em>: </b></span></span><br /><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b></b></span></span><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Stores are required to submit annual reports detailing how many bags  were bought by the store, how many were returned by consumers and which  recyclers processed them, yet the state recycling department cannot say  how many stores are complying. A review by the Associated Press found  data has not been analyzed since 2009, two years after the law took  effect. Then, three percent of California’s plastic bags were being  recycled, a one percentage point increase from the previous year.</b></span></span><br /><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b> </b></span></span><br /><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>While totals of bags purchased and recycled during the last three  years were made available after an AP request, Department of Resources  Recycling and Recovery spokesman Mark Oldfield said those numbers have  not been verified so the official recycling rate can be updated. He said  the program lacks resources to analyze recent reports. No fees are  charged to bag manufacturers, recyclers or retailers to help pay for  staff. While the law allows for fines if stores do not comply, no  violations have been issued.</b></span></span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>The AP report focuses on <a href="http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/05-06/bill/asm/ab_2401-2450/ab_2449_bill_20060930_chaptered.pdf">AB 2449</a> which  was passed by California legislators in 2006, then the plastic bag  recycling portion was extended until 2020 by legislators in 2012  through <a href="http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=201120120SB1219">SB 1219</a>. AB 2449 was a bit controversial at the time because many environmental groups were pushing for a stronger bill to address <a href="http://ecowatch.com/2013/08/06/the-danger-of-plastic-bags-to-marine-life/">plastic bag litter and associated impacts</a>.  AB 2449 included a provision that prevented local communities from  putting a fee on plastic checkout bags so the local response has been <a href="http://www.surfrider.org/pages/plastic-bag-bans-fees">65 plastic bag ban ordinances</a> and counting.</b></span></span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>Most recyclers don’t want to deal with plastic bags and film because  they can ‘gum up’ the machinery that processes more profitable items  such as plastic bottles and aluminum cans. In Washington, Thurston  County <a href="http://www.theolympian.com/2013/08/09/2664230/lemay-to-stop-recycling-plastic.html">recycling provider Lemay, Inc. stopped collecting plastic bags</a> and film in October because of a lack of market for the material. <a href="http://www.wdde.org/48636-dnrec-plastic-bag-recycling">Delaware recently changed their policy</a> and is directing residents not to put plastic bags in their curbside or other single-stream recycling bins.</b></span></span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b>In theory, it’s a good idea to segregate plastic bags so they can be  recycled separately but in reality that does not work if plastic bag  recycle rates continue to hover in the single digits. <a href="http://www.surfrider.org/">Surfrider</a> will continue to advocate plastic source reductions such as <a href="http://ecowatch.com/2013/07/31/texas-town-bans-plastic-bags/">plastic bag bans</a> and fee-based policies to help reduce plastic litter affecting the marine environment. </b></span></span>
