LG is working on flexible OLED display for smartphone and will be use in future smartphones from LG. The display unit of LG has announced that he started the production of its flexible OLED Displays.
Samsung has already announced for such type of displays last week and it is possible that Samsung’s next smartphone have such type of display. According to press release from LG, company hope to introduce its smartphone with new display in early 2014. Company said in press release “Our goal is to take an early lead in the flexible display market by introducing new products with enhanced performance and differentiated designs next year.”
Mr Sang Deog Yeo, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of LG made a statement “LG Display is launching a new era of flexible displays for smartphones with its industry-leading technology. The flexible display market is expected to grow quickly as this technology is expected to expand further into diverse applications including automotive displays, tablets and wearable devices.”
According to rumours the display will made from plastic and take just 0.44 mm thickness. The display will known as OLED panel. Company said about display ” By applying film-type encapsulation technology and attaching the protection film to the back of the panel, LG Display made the panel bendable and unbreakable.”
