Broadchurch has been nominated for a Writer's Guild Award in the TV Series category.
Chris Chibnall's drama will be up against two dramas by the writer Peter Moffat, Silk and The Village.
Broadchurch explores what happens to a small community when it suddenly becomes the focus of a major event and is subjected to the full glare of the media spotlight.
Since it premiered in the UK it has gone on to be shown around the world and last week it was announced that David Tennant will be starring in an American remake of the show.
The Writers' Guild Awards will be presented in London on Wednesday 13 November 2013.
