Thus consumers have no way of knowing if the food products they buy are GMO products or not. It was the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) prize pupil, ARGENTINA'S President Carlos Menem, who signed the contracts with the agribusiness giants MONSANTO and CARGILL to go the “soya way” at the beginning of the 1990s. The contracts were entered into without the participation of Congress and without a public debate. Since then, ARGENTINA has become the second largest GM soya producer in the world, after the UNITED STATES.<br /><br /><span style="color: #cc0000;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">LACK OF PUBLIC AWARENESS REGARDING THE DANGERS SURROUNDING GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOOD PRODUCTS</b></span><br /><br />A vast majority of food products on ARGENTINIANS supermarket shelves are in most likelihood linked to Monsanto and thus genetically modified food products without the consumer being aware of this fact. ARGENTINE public in general are not fully aware of the controversy surrounding genetically modified food products and subsequent health risks.( ARGENTINA has a soaring cancer statistic ) ARGENTINIANS, besides their high percentage of meat consumption, also consume large amount of pasta and bread, all of which contain, or could contain genetically modified, corn, wheat, soy etc.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Among the reasons listed:<br /><blockquote><b>Gay marriage:</b> “On the ‘open-minded’ issue … [w]e will face serious difficulty so long as the issue of gay marriage remains on the table.”<br /><br /><b>Hispanics:</b> “Latino voters … tend to think the GOP couldn’t care less about them.”<br /><br /><b>Perception of the party’s economic stance: </b>“We’ve become the party that will pat you on your back when you make it, but won’t offer you a hand to help you get there.”<br /><br /><b>Big reason for the image problem: </b>The “outrageous statements made by errant Republican voices.”<br /><br /><b>Words that up-for-grabs voters associate with the GOP:</b> “The responses were brutal: closed-minded, racist, rigid, old-fashioned.”</blockquote>President George W. Bush received rave reviews for attracting the youth vote as well as President Ronald Reagan. Politico noted:<br /><blockquote>“[The] Republican Party has won the youth vote before and can absolutely  win it again,” the report says, pointing to presidents Ronald Reagan  and George W. One was well-known Tim Samaras, 55, of Colorado, who had been a part of the Discovery Channel's <i>Storm Chasers</i> for three seasons. With him were his 24-year-old son Paul, and 45-year-old friend Carl Young -- all killed chasing the tornado.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/02/us/midwest-weather/index.html">CNN reported</a>:<br /><blockquote>Tim Samaras founded TWISTEX, the Tactical Weather Instrumented Sampling in Tornadoes Experiment, to help learn more about tornadoes and increase lead time for warnings, according to the official website.<br /><br />In 2004, he told CNN that being near storms was part of the job.<br /><br />"In order to get directly in the path, you have to be close," he said.<br /><br />"Actually I'm pretty focused on our safety, certainly, and I'm focused on getting the data and getting the right spot," he said. These first steps towards the EUROPEAN UNION of today were at the time encouraged by the UNITED STATES, as a mode of making possible the incorporation of the western parts of GERMANY into what would become the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).<br /><br />It is not sure that BRITISH leaders appreciated this new continental EUROPEAN structure. One of the ways GREAT BRITAIN seemed to react was to attempt a geopolitical stance independent of the UNITED STATES. It joined forces with FRANCE and ISRAEL to attack Nasser's EGYPT. The UNITED STATES was pursuing at the time another strategy in the MIDDLE EAST, and therefore lost no time to rap the knuckles of GREAT BRITAIN and insist that it withdraw its troops. This was humiliating for GREAT BRITAIN, but it also reminded them of the limits of their ability to be independent of the UNITED STATES.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: #cc0000;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">BRITAIN COMMITTED TO CONTINUING BEING THE CONTINENTS MAIN FINANCIAL HUB </span></b></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">After this, however, the UNITED STATES began to encourage GREAT BRITAIN to join the continental structures. From the U.S. point of view, GREAT BRITAIN could help prevent this. Such an entry had a particular advantage from a BRITISH point of view. GREAT BRITAIN'S last remaining vestige of its erstwhile hegemony was the continuing major role of the City of London in world finance. GREAT BRITAIN needed access to the EUROPEAN markets to guarantee this role.<br /><br />So, GREAT BRITAIN did enter the structures, to the great displeasure of Charles De Gaulle, who understood quite clearly U.S. motivations on this issue. By the 1970s, it was U.S. hegemony that began to be contested. Both FRANCE and GERMANY tendered diplomatic openings to the SOVIET UNION, which would culminate much later in 2003 with the FRANCO-GERMAN-RUSSIAN successful resistance to the U.S. desire to have the Security Council endorse U.S. military invasion of IRAQ.<br /><br />In this onset of geopolitical chaos, the BRITISH government sided totally with the UNITED STATES. Tony Blair's complete subordination to U.S. politics began to embarrass even BRITISH public opinion, which began to value much less a special relationship that was so one-sided. More and more people in GREAT BRITAIN sought to withdraw both from the U.S. link and the EUROPEAN links. GREAT BRITAIN wishes to insist that it is still a major military power. But the very same government that is asserting this is also reducing expenditure upon and the size of its armed forces, as part of its austerity program. <br /><br />The biggest problem for GREAT BRITAIN today is that the rest of the world will simply not consider it to be a very important geopolitical and financial actor anymore. Being ignored is not the happiest fate for an erstwhile hegemonic power.</span>

Up and going for only three weeks, it is already making inroads into the conservative political blogosphere.<br /><br />Some of Virginia’s best writers, broadcasters, and humorists -- and all keen conservative political observers – have launched <a href="http://www.vapolitics.us/">“Virginia Politics On Demand,”</a> a new Web site for information and commentary.<br /><br />The site  offers insightful analysis and original information to the Virginia political conversation.<br /><br />"Many political web sites focus on advocacy, and there's a need for that, but our goal is to be more analytical and original," said J.R. Hoeft, the publisher of VPOD.  "We want to help Virginians understand why something is happening, not why we want something to happen; and, we want to provide unique information, not something you can read somewhere else."<br /><br />In addition to politics, the site will provide perspective on history, economics, society and culture, and how they affect today's political landscape. During those years, we spent a lot of time in the Blue Ridge Mountains, most often around Blowing Rock and Boone.
