Hey my blogger buddies!! I hit the pavement bright and early this morning! I didn’t have much time, but I decided to go out anyway! I ended up doing 2:1 intervals and boy were they hard! I was sprinting on the run part!!! I ended up going for about 25 minutes. Felt great when I was done! I had breakfast on the run today. (spent too much time with DH before I left for work…worth it tho!) The scale this AM said 162 so I figured I would gain…and I did .4 lbs. I was bummed because I feel like I have been fairly OP this week, but hey it’s a small gain and I hope to have a loss next week. I just need to stay on track and get my workouts in. When I got home I had a ww pb cup for 2 points. They just aren’t quite like the “real” thing! Happy Monday everyone! I had great intentions of hitting the gym this morning because I didn’t really feel like running in the rain again! :p But for some reason when my alarm went off I didn’t hear it! But 45 minutes later luckily my lil pup woke me up otherwise I would’ve missed work! Still trying to eat up all that fruit in my fridge! So once again it wad an oatmeal free morning. I’m really starting to miss it! DH had to go into work. So I went for a run on the route he would take home, saw some “new” scenery, and pushed myself (BIG time!). We “ran” into each and he brought me within 4 blocks of our place…just enough for a quick little cool down. in total I ran for 22 minutes and had another couple minutes of cool down. When I got back to the house I did 10 minutes of lunges and abs. I love feeling that burn!! :) I know it wasn’t that long of a workout…but it’s better than nothing, right?!? It’s time for a little time with the hubs! One of my favorite ways to “spend” time! :) Hope everyone had a marvelous Monday and is looking forward to an even better Tuesday! Happy Sunday everyone. It’s rainy and cold here today. I miss those 70 & 80 degree days we were teased with last week! DH and I started out the morning with church and a little grocery shopping. And we came home and crashed! I think the game and late night last night wore us out! Wait…before we crashed we had some cold cereal. I purchased some Almond Breeze a few weeks ago and FINALLY tried it. It was ok, pretty much tasted like milk. I had 1 c of that with 1 c crispix for 3 points. It’s just not the same micro-waved instead of baked…soft or crispy…I like crispy! :) I might turn the oven on to re-heat the last 2 slices! I LOVE chocolate milk. It was something we didn’t have at my house growing up…defiantly a “treat”! So I mixed a little with some skim milk for 2 points! But DH had other ideas! If you remember we picked up some protein powder yesterday at Sam’s and he’s been excited about that. I haven’t been too good about using the stuff I bought a while ago. I said all that to say this….DH casually asked me “Wanna go for a run babe?” and of course I said “YES”! I don’t think he expected me to say that! I wasn’t sure if he was serious or not. I was in the kitchen cutting up strawberries and cleaning grapes and before I knew it he was back in the kitchen all dressed in his running gear! So I quickly changed and we hit the pavement…in the rain for 25 minutes! It was pretty tough, but we did it! :D I did 10 minutes of lunges and abs when we got back. Boy were they burning when I got done! This time I threw it in the blender with some ice and water and made it a little “slushy” for 2 points. I think this is my favorite way to have a protein shake. I am proud to say that I have outfits picked out for all five work days this week! That is usually my hardest part in the morning! :) So I had to try the Oikos I picked up yesterday while we were in Des Moines. I have never had “greek yogurt” before so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I tried the vanilla flavor since that is what I usually use in my strawberries and grape nut combo for 4 points. It is more creamy than regular yogurt and not near as sweet, but it adds more protein and calcium! It was a great addition to the strawberries and yogurt. They have a lot of recipes on their website so I am excited to try it other ways too! Happy Saturday everyone! Unfortunately it isn’t as bright and sunny here as it has been the past few days. It is actually pretty cold, windy, and rainy. Perfect day to stay in and get stuff done in the house!I was hoping to sleep in a bit today because DH didn’t schedule himself until 10am, but Abby (my lil pup) had other ideas. She was hopping around and pawing on the bed at 6:40am. Oh well! I guess I have more time to get stuff done! I got up and let her out and I think that made her one happy little puppy. Lucky for her though she can crawl right back into bed and fall back asleep, for some reason I just can’t do that!I cleaned a little around the house and got some laundry going. DH headed off for work and I bundled up and headed outside for a run. Boy oh boy was that hard today. Running against the cold wind, the cramp that would not leave me right side alone…but I pressed on. I did stop for a few more walk breaks than normal. I ended up going for about 30 minutes total. When I got home I ended my workout with 10 minutes of abs and lunges. I noticed this morning that I never did a re-cap of my March goals and didn’t post my April goals. Now I know you are thinking that there is only 1 week of April left…but hey I still need to work towards something right?!?!March Goals1. No cool whip for Lent – ACCOMPLISHED - I didn’t have ANY cool whip during the month of March!2. Eat smart/sensible (don’t go overboard) while on vacation 3/18-3/25 – ACCOMPLISHED - I am happy with how I ate…lost 3.2lbs while I was gone!3. Workout 6 days/week – ACCOMPLISHED - I worked out 27/31 days of March which averages out to 6 days/week!4. 158 lbs by 3/31/09 – Didn’t hit this goal, in fact today is April 25th and I still haven’t hit it. Workout 5 days/week4. 158 lbs by 4/30/09Yep you read that right I have not lost any weight this month…in fact I don’t think the scale has went down since I went to Florida in March. I am ok with that though. I have been maintaining. I would really like to maintain closer to 155 though. This morning the scale said 161.5. I would really like to be 160 (or less!) at ww on Tuesday, but we’ll see what happens. I am trying not to worry about the number so much but more how I feel. And right now I feel pretty dang good! :)Sorry for that little detour off my day! :)After my run I cleaned up a bit and ran some errands. I gave myself a time constraint to make it home by noon, but I think I gave myself too little time and too many things to do. And it is also IMPOSSIBLE to go to Target in my town without seeing someone I know! So I ran to the bank, post office, tanned, picked up a few things at Target (chatted with some friends! ;) ), and filled my vehicle up with gas…I was hoping to do all this in 45 minutes…but it was more like 1 hour and ten minutes! It’s ok tho!I rushed home and turned on the oven right away. Today is DH’s boss’ birthday and DH wanted me to bake some cookies to take in to them at work today. Now at first I thought “no problem”, but then I was like “oh crap”…"i love cookie dough!” But I am proud to say that I was STRONG and didn’t eat ANY cookie dough at all!! Well…back up a minute, actually when I was done I got a bit on my finger from the bowl so I went ahead and licked it like the “old Darci” would have done and before I could swallow I was “What am I doing?" and I spit it out!!! :) So pretty much I didn’t eat any cookie dough…unless there was some that absorbed in my mouth for those few seconds it took me to realize it wasn’t worth eating it! It is arena football. It’s indoor and the field is only 50 yards long. DH’s cousin plays for them. We got season tickets this year! But before the game we did a little shopping. First off we stopped off at Hy-Vee (grocery store) to use the free coupons the great folks over at Stoneyfield Farms sent me. It’s pretty casual, but oh so good! :) We started out with the 1/2 size of onion rings (i had 3), then I got the chicken tender wrapper with corn. They actually brought it to me with fries…I was tempted to just eat them ‘cause I don’t like to complain about food, but I figured this time it would be ok! I am estimating my total points around 15. TGIF!! For some reason the work day today just totally drug on! But I’m glad the work week is over and there are two days ahead of no work! :) Can you tell I love weekends!?!?! I am still trying to eat up all the fresh fruit in my fridge. I think we should have waited a bit longer for our food to settle! When we got back to stopped over at the neighbors to drop off his dog and have a few drinks (4 points). The recent Newsweek cover story on The Decline And Fall Of Christian America drove me up a wall because it was so badly reasoned and the analysis was both shallow and illogical. I don't have any quarrel with the claim that America is becoming increasingly less Christian. Nevada is still pre-Christian and we are doing fine. So that's not what got to me. First, the basic fact he worked from was a survey showing a decline in people's association with any kind of faith community. It was't about a relative decline of Christiainity. He reasoned from this that the agenda of the Christian right had failed. Where did that come from? There was nothing about a decline in reactionary religion as opposed to progressive religion. He went on to engage in sweeping generaliztions about the Chisitan social and political perspective, assuming we were all members of the Christian Coalition forces, and concluded that the decline of Christiainity will make for a freer, more just society. Hello, anybody read William Stringfellow, Daniel Berrigan, Thomas Merton, Dorothy Day, Catherine de Hoek Doherty, John Sobrino, Gustavo Gutierrez. the Boff brothers. Anybody read the resolutions of our House of Bishops. Or even the pastoral letters of the American Roman Catholic bishops. We might add Amos, Jeremiah, Jesus, Paul, Wilberforce, and on and on and on. We are not all Jerry Falwell, for goodness sake. And then the unkindest cut of all, the guy who is painting us all with the Ralph Reed brush says he is an Episcopalian !!! Finally, just to twist the knife of bad philosophy: he alludes to Augusine's statement that a people are united by their common love. Yes, true. What do American's love? Freedom, he says -- which turns out to mean the libertarian view that each of us should love whatever we want to -- there is really no common love so we are not really a people. What we want is just to be left alone -- no inconvenient moral obligations to justice, equality, beauty, mercy, any of those bothers. The author probably does not realize what he is trying to espouse is a naive and simplisitic version of the political philosophy of John Rawls. He is looking for a "thin theory of the good" -- a basic set of social goods that are necessary to actually allow us all to seek our individual vision of the good. But wait, just legalizing things doesn't make them possible. Rawls knew that -- so we have to have a floor of economic security, we need roofs over our heads, we need law enforcement, fire protection, and infrastructure. We need healthcare and education. Even Rawls' thin theory of the good turns out to be pretty thick -- and it is the view of the good supported by the social teachings of the Episcopal Church, the Catholic Church, and all the mainline Protestant Churches -- a far, far cry from what Newsweek attributes to us. Ok, rant over. The cultural norm of conformist Chrisitainity really is in decline in America. A word from those of us here in the Wild West where cultural Chrisitainity never took hold. It's a mixed thing. The Church here is more alive, more vibrant, more authentic, because no one here is worshiping becasue their neighbors expect them to or becasue they hope to meet a business contact at Sunday School. Our people are real deal Chrisitans -- and that makes us considerably more energetic and interesting. The decline of cultural Chistiainity is a spirutal liberation for us. The downside is for the folks outside our walls. The social indicators of despair -- suicide, alocoholism, other addictions -- are higher where the Church is weaker. There are ample medical studies showing that the unchurched are less healthy. Being a minority is not a spiritual privilege. It means we have to roll up our sleeves and spread some authentic gospel in a lonely, alienated, disempowered, despairing society. Lives are not fully lived. People do not become fully themselves. Souls are twisted and shrunk where the gospel is not shared.

Thursday, glorious, Thursday where did you go?? lol…. I took a “spur of the moment” vacation day and stayed home with DH (he had the day off too!). It was AWESOME!!!! I didn’t get to sleep in, but I did stay in bed with DH for a while…it was GREAT! We got up and made breakfast and ate it in bed!! Just ‘cause we could! Oh and caught up on some “taped” (yes we don’t have DVR yet) shows. I had banana pancakes, strawberries, and sf syrup for 6 points. Mmmm!! It was delicious!! I tried to convince DH to stop at one of my favorite places to get ice cream while we were down there…but he wouldn’t budge…thanks hunnie!! :) I was hoping to go for a run when we got home from my Mom’s, but didn’t have time. :( So when we got back to our place and had quick change and then head up to DH’s parents’ house to drop off the vehicle and then we went to a friend’s church for Dave Ramsey’s “Town Hall for Hope”. It was great…I just love that guy!! We are doing his “Total Money  Makeover” right now…if you haven’t read the book or checked out the website I would highly encourage you to do so…can’t wait to be DEBT FREE!!! Oh and I snapped this picture quick before we left our house….it said it was 90 degrees out!! What a horrible supper! THURSDAY’S STATS POINTS = 19/23 WATER = 48 oz EXERCISE = none Now it’s Friday and it’s supposed to be over 80 degrees again today. I’m back at work..but only for 1 day and then it’s the weekend!!! Hooray!! Hope everyone has a great Friday…only 6 more hours of work and then the weekend starts!!! :D

Two shout-outs to start with…. one to my middle school BFF, Tawny….Happy Birthday girl (miss you)!!! And 2 – Happy Earth Day!! Reduce, re-use, recycle!! DH got the internet working last night, but I crashed around 9pm and didn’t get a chance to post. Sorry everyone…I’ve been so bad with my blogging these days and it’s kind of ironic that I also haven’t been OP 100%. I think they go hand in hand for me! So my goal for this week is to blog everyday!! HOLD ME TO!!!! Woke up at 6am today and started out the day with a 30 min run with one of my favorite running pals….Abby!! I am just so amazed how good she does. We went almost 3 miles and her little legs made it the whole way! (except for a potty break for her!). I love running outside. It’s a nice change of pace from the treadmill. I hope to do this more now that it’s getting so nice outside here.  But I still want to hit the gym for weights. I’ve been bad about that too, haven’t lifted in about 2 weeks. I hosted a PartyLite show on Monday and served a few different fruits with a homemade dip and I had about 1/2 of the people show up so needless to say DH and I have a LOT of fruit to eat up! That’s ok though…it’s a good thing to have too much of! I jetted home for lunch and let Abby out. I got the mailed sorted and did the dishes. Also threw together a quick fruit filled lunch! I had strawberries, pineapple, and watermelon with fruit dip and a chicken salad flat out wrap for 5 points. I am not 100% sure on the fruit dip…it’s hard to determine what the total amount is….ie how many cups does it make to figure out the points per serving. Our office is really starting to get busy getting ready for the 2009-2010 school year. I want to get lots done now so the summer isn’t so crazy when we get short summer hours! And that brings us up to date. The reason I am posting early is because we are going out tonight to our favorite Wednesday night place…3rd Base (it’s a bar and grill) for 50 cent tacos and $1.50 margaritas. But I am going to try to stay within my points and then actually count the ones I go over from the weekly allowance.  I am guessing I will have 2 tacos and probably 1 margarita and 2 lite beers for 14 points. She has lots of great ideas and recipes! So I had to try <a href="http://cheatdaycafe.blogspot.com/2009/03/fruit-for-dessert-fruit-dip.html">this one</a> I found on her blog. It was PERFECT!!! Thanks Melody for posting it…going to be a favorite in our house!! I put it in recipe builder and it comes out to 11 points for the whole batch. So a serving size would be pretty minimal points wise. Fruit Dip 1 container of fat free or light whipped topping, thawed 2 containers of fat free or light yogurt (I used strawberry…you could use any kind) Just mix together and serve with fresh fruit. I got a pedi & my nails filled on Saturday and there were all these cute little high school girls getting their’s done for prom that night. But they were getting some fun designs and rhinestones put on theirs. So I asked the girl if she could do that for me too!
