This is a good piece,I like what Mr. Owens has to say here.<br /><br /><blockquote>Connecticut’s anti-gun politicians (in both parties) and the media are beside themselves in a quivering rage.<br /><br /><br />Though they passed a  blatantly unconstitutional law requiring citizens to register both their “modern muskets” and the standard-capacity magazines associated with such firearms, the response of the citizenry has been an overwhelming refusal to comply.<br /><br />No one knows for sure precisely how many firearms labeled “assault weapons” by the state exist in Connecticut and so a precise estimate is impossible to obtain, but the most common estimate is that a minimum of 86-percent of citizens did not register their semi-automatic firearms as required by law, and that figure may be as high as nine in 10. Standard-capacity magazines are also required to be registered with the state under the same law, and non-compliance there may be even higher, in excess of 95-percent.<br /><br />Predictably, the state and it’s big government supporters are stunned.<br /><br />Connecticut politicians have become so adjusted to docile citizens compliantly forfeiting their rights to more government intrusion that they simply assumed a law setting up the registration of firearms for their eventual confiscation would be obeyed without question.<br /><br />They’re now scrambling for what they would term “an appropriate response.”<br /><br />Behind closed doors, we can assume that they are fuming, and would like nothing more than to arrest each and every gun-owning scofflaw within the state at gunpoint, with an appropriate show of overwhelming police presence at each. I'm simply showing what the future will look like if the current trend continues. If 10% causes shopping mall pain now (which it clearly does), then what would 20% do in just 17 more years? Or 40% just 17 years after that?<br /><br />A 4.2% growth rate means that the thing growing doubles every 17 years. In this case, that thing is shopping mall pain.<br /><br />If you get stung by a bee and every 17 seconds you get stung by twice as many, how many minutes will it take before you realize that you're standing on a bee hive? Colton is currently on tour so that may be helping his sales as he lands at #152 and Mandisa may be receiving some sales after both her "Overcomer" album and single won Grammy's at the end of January. Her album squeaked onto the chart at #198. Colton and Mandisa's success demonstrates the strength of the Christian music industry in terms of sales (Angie Miller, take note!)<br /><br />The other two guys on the chart are the same two from last week. Daughtry's "Baptized" is holding pretty steady at #94 this week from #90 last week, and Scotty McCreery's "See You Tonight" actually improved from #160 last week to #133 this week. His "See You Tonight" single has finally officially become a Top 10 hit, and the increased airplay should be helping his sales. That single has been out forever, and it is good to see it finally receiving the airplay it deserves. His total sales are listed in the <a href="http://www.roughstock.com/blog/country-album-chart-news-the-week-of-february-12-2014-florida-georgia-line-1-eric-paslay-debuts-top-5-whiskey-myers-moonshine-bandits-scotty-mccreery" target="_blank">Roughstock blog</a> as 3K this week, bringing his total to 198K. He should break 200K next week for sure. That will be Scotty's third album to break 200K in sales. He joins Kelly, Clay, Ruben, Fantasia, Carrie and Daughtry as the only Idols to have three albums breaking 200K in sales (Jennifer Hudson might once she releases her third album!) Interestingly, all the other Idols listed were from the first five seasons of Idol, which means starting Season 6, Scotty is the <b>ONLY</b> Idol to have three albums selling more than 200K. The album is currently sitting at #8 on the <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/music-speaks/id791658677" target="_blank">iTunes</a> US album chart. At least it is in the Top 10!

Here are some photos of Falconry in Zülpich, Germany, designed and built by students at FH Köln*. Photographs are by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/schroeer-heiermann/">Chris Schroeer-Heiermann</a>, who writes:<br /><blockquote>The fourth-semester project last year for architecture students at the FH Köln was a falconry, which we knew was supposed to actually be built on the grounds of a garden-exhibit in Zülpich, near Köln. So we approached the powers that be with 30 of the 120 designs which had been submitted, and one, designed by Viviane Bonfanti, was actually selected for realization. A group of 4 students were assisted by myself and 2 other professors and, with the help of a structural engineer, worked out all the details and logistics to make the theory reality.<br /><br />We found a sponsor willing to pay for the materials and a local vocational school with an interested teacher and group of ongoing carpenters with a sense of adventure who then volunteered to build it.<br /><br />So two weeks ago [as of January 29], after we laid the sole plate, the architecture students coordinated the erection of the rough-construction over the course of one week. </blockquote>*Project team:<br />FH Köln Students: Viviane Bonfanti, Patrick Müller, Nadja Thielen, Nina Wester<br />FH Köln Faculty: Prof. Peter Scheder, Prof. i.V.
