Even though seeing Ben Briley being eliminated from American Idol was not that huge of a surprise, seeing the other two people standing next to him in the Bottom 3 changes the season quite a bit. Even though neither Sam Woolf nor Majesty Rose gave stellar performances last night, I thought they had large enough fan bases to keep them safe from the Bottom 3. Perhaps limiting the votes this year has kept the fans from power voting as much as they have before, so even those considered front runners might get in trouble after weaker performances. From the odds from last week, Sam was the odds on favorite and Majesty was #3 (behind Alex Preston.) After tonight's results both of them should see their odds shift drastically.

This now leaves only four contestants completely unscathed in the voting: Alex, Caleb Johnson, Dexter Roberts and Jessica Meuse. The others have all either been in the Bottom 3 at some point, or were a wild card (i.e. not one of the original Top 10 voted in on Feb 20.) One would think that one of those four stands the best shot of winning the whole thing. Majesty had been the favorite lady to win, but now Jessica is the one and only lady to never land in the Bottom 3. Since Jena was both a wild card and in the Bottom 3 once, and MK was Bottom 3 twice, that is two strikes against each of them. C.J Harris was not one of the original Top 10 selected Feb 20, but since being named a wild card he has not been in the Bottom 3 which is good for him. He must have developed some fan base, but it is still probably not as large as the four from the original Top 10.

In my Google attempts to find overnight betting odds on the Top 10, I found this place called "Paddy Power" which has some odds, but I am not sure how accurate they are:
They have Dexter as the new favorite at 5/2, followed by Jena at 9/2, Caleb at 5/1 and Alex and Majesty both at 6/1. I would think Alex would be ahead of Majesty and I was surprised Jena was second. I am also surprised CJ is ahead of Jessica.
