I know what you’re thinking: It seems like all anyone does is speculate about the Justice League Movie. However, the latest news about the Man of Steel 2 film has Batman and Wonder Woman joining Superman, which means this could be a serious dry run for a full blown JL film.
Earlier this year “Man of Steel” bested a lot folks’ expectations by bringing in $291 million at the domestic box office and $371 million in the foreign box office, according to Box Office Mojo, which gives the sequel, even if Ben Affleck is playing Batman, serious traction.
Having Wonder Woman pop up in the film is a natural extension of the DC Comics Universe, and really the story will have to convince me that it is 100% necessary. According to IGN, the Justice League Dark film headed by Guillermo del Toro is heating up as well, thanks to a television show centered around John Constantine to hit next year as well.
Basically, with the success of The Dark Knight Trilogy and the latest adventure of Superman, I’m not sure DC will ever have a better chance to push a Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman story into the next level. The next Man of Steel could well be the Justice League Movie that many hope and dream about.
Granted it is too early to say, but in Hollywood that $662 million global box office gross on a $225 million budget for Man of Steel means some serious green is at stake for a film well produced. Here is hoping that Batman and Wonder Woman help push the agenda forward at a faster pace.
