The storms later hit us with steady downpours until late into the night. Looking east toward Staunton/ Fishersville / Waynesboro, there were continuous lightning flashes about 11:00 Saturday night. ELISHA vs THOMAS JEFFERSON

<br /><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Evangelicals rely on Scripture alone.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Secularists rely on Reason alone.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Episcopalians pay attention to both, <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         and we also have a third leg on the stool – Tradition.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Our Old Testament story is about tradition.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Elijah had had one heckuva life.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">He’d done some pretty dramatic stuff.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">But now his earthly race was run, so he said to his disciple, Elisha, <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">“So long buddy, I’m off to Bethel.” <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">But Elisha hung on to his teacher and went with him to Bethel.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Elijah then said, “Adios, Elisha. It was nice knowing you.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         I’m going over Jordan.”<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">But Elisha said “Not so fast I’m going with you.”<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Finally Elijah said, “Goodbye Elisha I’m off to heaven.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         Anything I can do for you before I go?”<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;"> </span><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 115%;"> </span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Elisha answered, “Give me the power to keep on doing <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         what you’ve been doing -- only more of it.”<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Elijah said, “Only if you can follow me into heaven with your eyes.”<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">When the chariot swung low comin’ for to carry Elijah home,<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         Elisha watched him until he was out of sight.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Then Elisha tore off his own clothes and put on Elijah’s mantle.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">For those who have seen the 1982 film classic Barbarossa,<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         it’s the same thing Gary Busey does to become Willie Nelson.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">If you haven’t seen Barbarossa, just skip this sermon and watch it. Point made.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">With that mantle came prophetic power.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Earlier in the story, on their way to Elijah’s point of departure,<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         they had to cross the Jordan River.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Elijah had struck the water with his mantle<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         and it parted for him as the Red Sea parted for Moses,<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">and as this very Jordan River had parted for Joshua        <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: 1.0in;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">when he took over the leadership of Israel.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">With Elijah gone, Elisha headed back the way they came.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">When he got to the Jordan, he did the same thing.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">He struck the water with his mantle, and the waters parted <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">as they had done for Elijah, Joshua, and Moses before him.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Elisha was carrying on a tradition stretching back over the centuries,<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">from his teacher Elijah all the way to Joshua and Moses.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Elisha had followed his teacher as far as he could go.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">When his teacher was gone, Elisha tore up his own clothes,<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         his own identity, and put on the mantle of Elijah and continued his work.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">That’s tradition.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Americans are not so fond of Tradition. Take Thomas Jefferson.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">He was all about Reason but he had no use for Tradition. <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">He insisted the world belongs to the present generation. <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">No law, no constitution, no form of government should last over 20 years.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Jefferson worshiped at the Church of What’s Happening Now.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">He tore up the mantle of his ancestors to put on his own clothes.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Jefferson and Elisha represent two opposite attitudes.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Native cultures are our best example we have of Elijah’s way.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Native Americans honor their traditions.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">They hold their ancestors in reverence.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">They respect the elders of the tribe.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Anglo-Americans treat our elders as burdens to be warehoused.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">We are certain that the wisdom of today<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         is to be preferred over the benighted ways of our forbears.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">We don’t want to be burdened by yesterday. “Yesterday’s done.”<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">We do not expect future generations to pay any attention to us.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">The Church of What’s Happening now<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         acknowledges no debt to the people who got us here<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         and no duties to those who will come after us.<br />“Imagine all the people living for today.”<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">It’s popular these days, even among some Episcopal leaders,<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         to junk the Tradition.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Sell the churches, meet in bowling alleys, and make up a ritual<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         if we feel so inclined at the moment.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">The ritual we make up will express<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         what we think, what we feel – something we like –<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         nothing that might make us uncomfortable.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">There was a time I’d have said “sign me up” for that.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">But there came a point when I was not so sure of myself anymore.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">I wasn’t positive that my opinions were better than the teachings <o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">of ancient spiritual masters,<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">         or that my feelings were nobler than those of the saints.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">It can guide us into the future or it can trap us in the past.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">The key is to recognize the difference between Sacred Tradition<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman"; font-size: 14.0pt; Busy weekend

We've had a full weekend catching up on lots of chores that we needed to do after our holiday.<div><br></div><div>Yesterday we cleaned the house from top to bottom and then filled the hot tub.</div><div><br></div><div>Today Ciaran had to bleed the hot tub as there was an air lock in it.  Once he did this is started heating up nicely.  Nearly hot enough for a dip as I write.</div><div><br></div><div>Today I took my car for the NCT retest. Handed over €28 to get a 1 minute cursory glance at the lights and then get my cert printed off.  My car is officially back roadworthy. Phew! ;-)</div><div><br></div><div>After the test we went to TK Maxx for a quick browse before we went to Maplins.  I had picked up some cute cocktail napkins but when I went to pay I saw the queue was waaay too long so I left them back.</div><div><br></div><div>We then went to Maplin for an aerial to hook up the new TV in our bedroom.  When we got home Ciaran climbed into the attic to see if he could set up the aerial there.  We got no reception so I connected it to the back of the TV - still no reception.  I called the TV helpline number in the UK.  They gave me a few tips and helped me troubleshoot.  At one point I had Ciaran on a stepladder hanging out the window with the aerial.  We got it sorted and we are now hooked up to the digital service offered by the Irish government - all 9 channels (without having to position Ciaran with his arm out the window!).  Downstairs we are connected to UPC and we have about 100 channels, including the newly added TLC which we discovered when we returned from our holidays.</div><div><br></div><div>In the afternoon we popped in to Cinnamon for a carafe of Malbec - me likey! Later I heated up lasagne for dinner which was enjoyed by both of us.</div><div><br></div><div>Now we are relaxing watching the box set of The House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey which is excellent!</div><div><br></div><div>In good news, as we left Cinnamon we saw a sign in Coffee Society.  Looks like they are reopening. Lost...  That's where I am.<br /><br />I'm back down in a really down and needy state.  Apologies for the mood swingy posts.  Aside from medicine to chill out panic attacks, I'm without benefit of anything to keep my brain and thoughts in order. <br /><br />So what <i>is</i> my deal?  Surely there's a trigger of some sort.  Well, this time I figured at least some of it out.<br /><br />There's my obvious need for tons of sex. Much more than most people.  It's been at least a week now.  It's not a huggy snuggly thing and it's not a need down there either - those needs can be met in other ways.  It's the stuff of excessively naughty details.  Can't explain it.  It just does good things to my head, settles me a little. That doesn't explain this though.  Leaving me a bit more on edge, probably so, but it's not all of it.<br /><br />I had the "ah hah" moment this morning.  It's talking to my husband.  We can talk about the right here and now, no problem.  The issue is all this personal talking BS.  We go for a while of just superficial conversations and I get more comfortable.  He softens, everything is good with the world, and then I feel comfortable enough to attempt a slightly less tangible discussion or letter or email.  I hit a brick wall, I'm dismissed, my feelings are dismissed, and I don't matter because he's not having a problem so all's good with the world.<br /><br />We've been talking in bed for a week or so (uh, another lighbulb moment - if I'd shut up there'd be sex probably).  Talking about silly stuff or something random.  Not much.<br /><br />We had an incredible day together yesterday.  Kids' cousin wanted to take them for a day - go for it sweetie!  We did a lot of work stuff, though it was all out and about so lots of time just being friends between stops.  We ate lunch and dinner out at new places.  It was wonderful.<br /><br />I decided it was time for a real talk.  It was dark so I couldn't see his expressions, it just felt safer to me. I wanted to know some things about myself that he doesn't like.  That there's lots of things about how I act that I'm not happy about, that I'm trying to be a better person and I'm having a hard time.  If he could kind of point me in the direction of the big things I could focus on those.  Maybe if I wasn't focusing on <i>everything</i> it would be easier for my efforts to become engrained as good habits.<br /><br />"Let me think about it for a minute... Nothing, I guess.  There's nothing about you that I have a problem with."  And yes, I know that would be the correct answer 99.9% of the time!<br /><br />Yeah right. I pointed out a few things about me that drive me crazy and I wanted to change.  He agreed completely and added to the list.  He told me to stop doing those things.  I'm trying, I explained.  I need your help.  I need your leadership. I need you to help me see how ridiculous I'm being when I'm being me.  A little hint to me that I'm being ridiculous so I can reel it in.  Or point it out after.  Or sometimes perhaps he could see it coming and stop it in its tracks.<br /><br />"Just make yourself do what you're supposed to. I'm not role playing"<br /><br />Nobody's asking you to.  Explained more that I want/need his help.  I need his support when I'm struggling. That I've technically been role playing by suppressing my needs and pretending they don't exist. That people in a relationship must be willing to change and adapt over time.  You can't have one person doing as they please, to please themselves, and tell the other person they can join you in your exact way or nothing.  People who love each other shouldn't have a "my way or the highway" thought process.  That my efforts to reach out to him are met with a big fat "Fuck off, Chickie.  I don't have time for your crazy."  No he's never said that and I made it clear I wasn't accusing him of that.  It just <i>feels</i> that way.<br /><br />"Well, I only deal with adults."<br /><br />I explained I am an adult.  There was lots of other talking and then it took a quick turn to the letter I'd written him.  Did you really read it, like to understand it?  Yes, he'd read it and admittedly brushed it off.  Then something like "If you want me to be in charge, I'll show you in charge."  He wanted to know what'll happen if he says we're doing something his way. I said I'd do it. <br /><br />And then veered off into DD territory from there, something I really didn't intend to do. It's something that I think will help us, something that will help me, and by helping me he'd help the whole family. Blah blah blabhbeddy blah.  Silence... Do you have anything you want to ask me?  Any questions about anything?<br /><br />"Nnnnnope," and rolled over and went to sleep.<br /><br />I cried myself to sleep.  Once again, as usual, any effort I make to move beyond roommates with benefits (really friggin' awesome benefits) was again shot down.  Be there for me, even if just an ear.  Is it really too much to ask?<br /><br />This morning was very cold.  The only words he spoke to me were asking if his new shirt looked good on him.  <br /><br />And so here I am in another "down" that'll work itself out over the next few days... just for me to screw it up again with a conversation.  i reach out and get knocked down.  I don't think I deserve this.  I'm not being a spoiled brat.  I simply want more to our marriage than being roommates, without one being so egotistical and self-serving.  But to that, he'd say that I knew what I signed up for.<br /><br />So after reading this through...  I'm seeing that despite that going exactly as I know it would, he <i>did </i>hear me out.  Maybe his silence this morning is more processing the reality of what I need.  Maybe he's retreating until the crazies go away.  Maybe he's got a headache or maybe he's trying to figure out if he forgot to do something yesterday.  Or maybe he's just afraid I'll say something about feelings and then he'll have to listed to all this crap again.  He doesn't hold grudges or anger or animosity of any sort... he's certainly not mad at me.  I hate being so darned sensitive.  I wish I didn't read into things that aren't readable.  And he's not a jerk even though he sounds that way.  He's a fun friendly guy and everybody likes him.

It is near the San Francisco Bay and is known for its Mediterranean climate. During the winter, the town is all wet and cool. The weather is warm and dry during summer but morning fogs are scattered all around during early morning.<br />  <br />  It's for this reason why a lot of residents in Moraga cannot go on with their daily morning exercise outdoors during summer. But a personal trainer Moraga shared a number of indoor exercises which you can do during the early morning inside your home so you do not have to deal with the fogs outside.<br />  <br />  Squats<br />  <br />  To perform this exercise, you should begin by extending positioning your feet shoulder width apart. Make sure that you're very comfortable. Afterwards, slowly lower your buttocks without moving your feet and without bending your upper body. You should feel the tension in your lower body.<br />  <br />  Lower your buttocks up to the point wherein your thighs are parallel to the floor.<br />  <br />  Shoulder Press<br />  <br />  The personal trainer Moraga recommends the use of a dumbbell for the shoulder press exercise. Stand with your feet hip width apart from each other and make sure that you're holding one dumbbell for each hand. Afterwards, bend your knees slowly and plunge into a squat position while keeping your knees in line with your toes and heels. When going back to the standing position, push your arms upwards and move straight up towards the air.<br />  <br />  Incline Dumbbell Press<br />  <br />  The personal trainer Moraga recommends holding a 10 or 12 pound dumbbell when doing the incline dumbbell press. Hold the dumbbells on each hand and sit on an exercise ball while allowing it to roll below your back until such time that you are in a squatting position and the upper portion of your back is leaning on it. Hold on to the dumbbells beneath your shoulders and then slowly press straight up the dumbbell going towards the ceiling and then go back to the starting position.<br />  <br />  One Leg Dead lifts<br />  <br />  To perform this exercise, the personal trainer Moraga advises that you start on a standing position while your feet are hip width apart from each other. You should be holding two dumbbells on each sides and then slowly bend your body forward coming from your waistline while letting your hands lie freely on your sides. At the same time, slowly lift your leg up until such time that it is in the same height with your torso and in parallel with the floor. Go back to the standing position and continue doing the moves with the other leg.<br />  <br />  The personal trainer Moraga recommends that beginners must perform at least 8 to 12 reps of each of the exercises mentioned previously in order to be able to burn more calorie and fats.
