Singapore Sightseeing: Changi International Airport

Contrary To What You See On Television

Autopsies are actually pretty rare.<br /><br />Because my Dad had a reaction to a heart medication that basically chemically burned his lungs that is so rare there are only 3 or 4 reported cases in the entire nation,it was decided to do an autopsy to see if there is any reason for me and my brother to be aware if it is genetically predisposed and also so that more study can be done to potentially help someone else down the road.<br /><br />It is so rare that it is not even listed as a <i>possible</i> side effect.<br /><br />Think of all the fucking commercials you see these days with a laundry list of possible side effects and then go OOPS, missed that one!<br /><br />Apparently only the Medical Examiner or a Doctor can order one,if you request one and either of those two don't, you get to pay.<br /><br />I can only imagine how many zero's are behind that bill. We got lucky and talked his Cardio Doctor into ordering one.<br /><br />Also, a clue we got how rare they are is that when we got the forms, it was noticed that the dates to be filled out were in the 1900's!<br /><br />____ _____ 19___<br /><br /><br />And because the process of going about making funeral arrangements isn't a joy in and of its self, lets throw in a curveball because of the motherfucking <b>Government Shutdown!</b><br /><br />My Dad was a Navy Veteran.<br />He is eligible to be buried with full military honors at Willamette National Cemetery but because of the fucking assholes playing political games, that falls under Government Services and we all know that shit is temporarily shut down.<br /><br />That presents a bit of a quandary.<br /><br />I was told that they are operating at an extremely limited level, this week, no one seems to know about next week.<br /><br />What the fuck are ya supposed to do, leave him in a fucking freezer like yesterdays meat loaf?<br /><br />I'm here to tell ya that I am in <b><i>NO FUCKING MOOD</i></b> to play fucky fuck games here folks.<br /><br />If you piss me off to the point that I go ape fucking shit be very aware that I have a very convenient plea at my disposal at this point in time and I bet you can guess what that is.<br /><br /> So I suggest for everyone's sake that we just take care of this business as quickly as possible before someone winds up in the emergency room to have a size eleven boot surgically removed from their asshole.<br /><br />Capiche?<br />

Corporate America wants even more freedom to buy elections

If Mr. McCutcheon wins his case, a single wealthy individual could give a total of more than $2.4 million to his or her favorite candidates, and another million-plus dollars to the party committee of their choice - for a total of 3.5 million dollars.</blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">Mr. McCutcheon claims money is speech and that any legislative measure which hinders his dollar offends "liberty." But irrespective of the patriotic rhetoric, what McCutcheon is really suing for is the right to buy elections. Because 93 percent of the time, the candidate who raises the most money, wins.</blockquote>Call it Citizens United II. Federal Election Commission</i>, which set the stage for enormous sums of money to be spent in elections through super PACs and other independent entities.</blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">On Tuesday, October 8—less than three years after deciding <i>Citizens United—</i>the Supreme Court will hear arguments in <i>McCutcheon v. The recall election against union-busting Gov. Scott Walker was the <a href="http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/jun/07/citizens-united-helped-scott-walker-win-wisconsin" rel="nofollow">most expensive election in Wisconsin's history</a>, with Walker raising over $30.5 million -- seven times more than his opponent.<br /><br /><em>McCutcheon v. FEC</em> threatens to accelerate the damage that <em>Citizens United</em> has already done to our democracy. While arguments in the case will be heard tomorrow in front of the Supreme Court, <a href="http://www.commoncause.org/site/apps/nlnet/content2.aspx?c=dkLNK1MQIwG&b=4773613&ct=13344093&notoc=1" rel="nofollow">hundreds of workers, labor activists and others will be outside the Court rallying against big money in politics</a>. <br /><br />As a wealthy GOP backer, McCutcheon argues that limiting individuals' campaign donations is a restriction on their free speech. But for most people, the biggest limitation on their campaign contributions is their wallets. It's too bad then that McCutcheon isn't trying to overturn economic inequality instead of campaign finance restrictions.<br /><br />Citizens United and McCutcheon are leading a national conspiracy to make corporations into people in the eyes of the law. Of course, if corporations are "people," then real people like us are made to be less than people in our political system.

It is only Monday morning and I already feel behind. How is that for the start of the week? Aces. I hope your weekends were delightful though. And thanks so much for all of your comments on Fess Up Friday. I now have quite a shopping list started for myself.<br /><br />Today I wanted to share a recent experience I had with the good folks at <a href="http://lamps.com/" target="_blank">Lamps.com</a>. As I've eluded to in crazy code like ways (I promise I'll divulge more soon) I've been working feverishly to get a laundry list of items done to our little cottage and addressing the light over our kitchen window has been on that list for a while.<br /><br />Our old light was a bit large for that small window and those that are blessed with long, tall legs (I don't have this problem) would often knock their heads on it. I’ve been a shop steward for approximately eight years.<br /><br />I want to share a story about our yard, First Student’s St. Andrews terminal in Los Angeles.<br /><br />I was on the negotiation committee for our five-year union contract with First Student and we have a strong contract.<br /><br />First Student has a contract with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the second-largest district in the country. St. Andrews terminal is the central contractor yard for LAUSD because of its location, which is surrounded by L.A. schools.<br /><br />First Student has purchased a new fleet of buses. Now the students and parents we transport daily feel safe. Our drivers appear motivated and happy to serve the customer, LAUSD, which is the major customer in school-busing in California. Ninety percent of our yard has gone green, meaning our buses are gas, propane and compressed natural gas (CNG) fueled, which helps the environment.<br /><br />Our yard has received more routes than we can handle. We have drivers from other yards helping cover these routes. Some of these drivers are from other unions, but we have come together as a team to ensure our students’ safety. Our training department wasn’t able to train enough drivers before school started on August 13, 2013, so First Student temporarily moved drivers from its other facilities. St. Andrews is known as the central contractor yard for LAUSD and our drivers are very proud to work at this terminal.<br /><br />I really enjoy my job as a driver. To all my fellow school bus drivers, let’s always remember that the cargo we transport is our future. As I tell my students, one day they may be a doctor, lawyer, judge, senator or president. When that child steps aboard your bus, the parents trust us to get them to and from school safely!<br /><br />

Following her death some years later, Mickey left school to become a car mechanic and moved into a flat on the Powell Estate. During this time, he was accused by Jackie Tyler of being responsible for her daughter's disappearance, and was taken in for questioning by the police five times. He started researching the Doctor, uncovering details of his past visits to Earth, and his previous involvement with UNIT. When the Doctor and Rose did eventually return to Earth in 2006, Mickey was quickly snubbed by them both, with the Doctor nicknaming him Ricky and Mickey The Idiot in an attempt to irritate him.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Although initially hesitant to support the Doctor's cause, Mickey was able to use his advanced computer skills to hack in to the Royal Navy and UNIT computer sytems during the Slitheen invasion on Earth and hijacked a missile, using it to destroy the Slitheen inside Downing Street ( Aliens Of London, World War Three). Rose asked him to take her passport to Cardiff, where the TARDIS was refuelling, and he helped her, the Doctor and Captain Jack Harkness defeat the surviving Slitheen, Blon Fel Fotch (Boom Town).</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Mickey was delighted when the Doctor sent Rose home from the Dalek invasion of 200,100, but eventually accepted that her place was with the Doctor and helped her reactivate the TARDIS and return to the Game Station (Parting Of The Ways).</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Missing Rose terribly, Mickey took the opportunity instead to keep Jackie company, visiting her every Sunday for dinner, and helping out with odd jobs around the flat. He was with Rose when the TARDIS was transported aboard the Sycorax ship (The Christmas Invasion) Now accustomed to saying goodbye to Rose (New Earth), Mickey continued to work as a mechanic, and considered himself to be the Doctor and Rose's 'Man In Havana', carrying out surveillance and technical support from afar. He was then safely transported back to 'Pete's World' before the Doctor sealed the breach between the universes, and he lived with Pete Tyler and his adopted family Jackie and Rose Tyler.
