<strong>Library Reference Assistant</strong> - The Town of Plainville is searching for a Library Reference Assistant in our <span style="color: #48286d;"><strong>Plainville Public Library</strong></span>. This position is accountable for assisting the Library Director in providing reference and inter-library loan services to patrons. The position is a 35 hour work week with a starting salary $18.59 per hour plus benefits. Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, the humanities or other related field; minimum of two years experience in relevant library work. The position requires a knowledge of library science procedures and library classification systems. Also, the ability to conduct and teach library research techniques, ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work, and multi-task. Some other tasks will include: Representing the library at meetings regarding the development of regional library policies; reading book reviews and making recommendations on the purchase of new books; teaching groups and individuals how to use various library resources; covering the circulation desk as needed; general clerical duties; and related duties as necessary.
