I was lucky enough to win a design consult with the lovely Jessie at <a href="http://www.mixandchic.com/" target="_blank">Mix and Chic</a> and we have been working on our family room/playroom. She has come up with some really great ideas and I can't wait to start working on the space, but it has brought up an ongoing discussion in our house.<div><br /></div><div>Sectionals.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />The hubs and I like our couch time. We log many hours on that sucker (isn't it our duty as Americans?) and we require comfort.<br /><br />Our first couch, god rest its soul, was the single greatest couch created. We scored it at a consignment shop when we got our first apartment and that thing was sent straight from heaven. Perfect for napping, spooning (TMI?) and plenty of room to seat an army. It wasn't a sectional but was the size of a barge. And it made it thru three apartments before it just got too big and too beat up to drag along any longer. Insert lone tear here.<br /><br />So when we moved into our current we got a new couch for the family room and 5 1/2 years later the thing is beat up, full of saggy cushions and frankly, not that comfortable. So the sectional debate begins again.<br /><br />For whatever reason, when I thought of sectionals, I always thought of those bad 80'couches that take up a whole room with bad burgundy fabric and overstuffed head cushions and la-z-boys at the end.<br /><br />But, sectionals have come a long way baby. I think I am in love. Nach der Zwangsfusion von sieben <i>cajas</i> zur <i>Bankia</i> wurde die neue Großbank im Sommer vergangenen Jahres an die Börse gebracht. Den Anlegern wurde ein aussichtsreiches Investment versprochen. The Connecticut Library Consortium (CLC) seeks a dynamic leader with  the ability to inspire collaborative efforts to be its next Executive  Director. The Connecticut Library Consortium is a statewide membership  collaborative serving all types of Connecticut libraries by helping them  strengthen their ability to serve their users. The incumbent will  respond to diverse membership needs (800+ multi-type member libraries)  by increasing visibility and political awareness, and providing measured  return on investment for members and communities. CLC recently adopted  an ambitious (2012-2015) strategic plan, which is already underway and  will require the next Executive Director to manage the achievement of  its goals. Additionally, the Executive Director will manage the  operations of the Connecticut Library Association (CLA).<br /><br />Responsibilities: Establishing and coordinating  organizational goals, program directions, and services; developing and  cultivating partnerships with other statewide non-library groups;  monitoring actions of the state legislature that may impact upon CLC and  serving as its advocate; engaging in budget planning and oversight;  hiring and managing all staff and supervising all operations;  coordinating membership communications; and marketing CLC to its  constituencies.<br />             Required qualifications: Masters Degree required,  preferably an MLS, MNM, MPA or equivalent.  Experience in non-profit  program and fiscal management and in working collaboratively with boards  and community organizations. Must have a genuine passion for libraries  and be able to manage multiple demands.<br /><br />             Preferred qualifications: Experience in program and  fiscal management and in working collaboratively with libraries and  governmental boards; fundraising and grant writing expertise; skills in  human resource management, leadership, communication, and analyzing  data; ability to multitask and set priorities; customer service  orientation; understanding of the role of technology in the library  environment; and a willingness to travel, particularly within  Connecticut.<br /><br />             Salary commensurate with experience, plus TIAA-CREF  retirement and an excellent benefits package. The KLA used to have up to 10 per cent of underage fighters in its ranks. </span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">There were numerous reports of the KLA having contacts with Al-Qaeda, getting arms from that terrorist organization, getting its militants trained in Al-Qaeda camps in PAKISTAN and even having members of Al-Qaeda in its ranks fighting against SERBS.The same horrors that were witnessed during the war in KOSOVO are now apparently being prepared for the multi-confessional Syrian population by Islamist SYRIAN Liberation Army trained in Muslim KOSOVO in the middle of EUROPE.</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">The SYRIAN Liberation Army group that actually formed the delegation to Kosovo has been fighting with the SYRIAN government for over a year now. This stand-off has claimed well over 9,000 lives, about half of them SYRIAN servicemen, law enforcers and officials.Lately, the militants have been squeezed out of the SYRIAN cities and their positions along the SYRIAN-TURKISH border. By presenting themselves as freedom fighters and victims to the Western media, the KLA secured a Western intervention in March 1999 after they staged a fake massacre in Račak. They started their terrorist ambushes in 1997. They intensified their activities in 1998. But all along it was atrocity management that they wanted, for instance, the famous case of Racak where the combat victims were presented as innocent civilian dead slaughtered by the SERBS. </span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">But even during the bombing the SERBIAN forces maintained full control of all of the key population centers and they even kept the roads open. It’s only that the KLA came in after the SERBS started withdrawing under the terms of the ceasefire with NATO. And even then they were not engaging in combat, they were acting as marauders ethnically cleansing non-ALBANIANS. So the first point is that there is nothing to learn in terms of combat efficiency and in terms of actually organizing a successful guerilla force. </span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">RT: Words that have been associated with the KLA – assassination, terror, bombings – is that really the kind of thing that the SYRIAN opposition wants to be associated with?</span></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">ST: It seems that they don’t care, because I understand that Ammar Abdulhamid, one of the SYRIAN opposition leaders who came to Pristina and actually spoke to an AP reporter, said “We are here to learn.” Now this should be a huge wake-up call for those SYRIANS who are not supportive of the opposition, especially the minorities: the Alawites, the Christians – either Orthodox or GREEK Catholic – the Shiites, the KURDS.
