I've been slowly working on getting my house Christmas ready and one of the things that keeps a pep in my step for this yearly ritual is the idea of mixing it up. Even moderate exercise, such as walking for 45 minutes at 75 percent of age-predicted maximal heart rate, just 3 days each week, boosts the benefits of fish oil. In the absence of exercise, the effects of fish oil are insignificant.<br />  <br />  The bottom line among all the seemingly contradictory results of studies that entail the effects of fish oil on weight loss can be summarized in four take-home lessons:<br />  <br />  1) The overabundance of omega-6 fatty acids from vegetable oils negates the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil. Our modern dietary intake of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids is in a ratio of about 20:1. It should be closer to 2:1. Consume less vegetable oil and more fish oil.<br />  <br />  2) The benefits of dietary fish oil for fat loss and lean body mass are boosted by even moderate exercise. Such benefits are insignificant in the absence of exercise.<br />  <br />  3) The positive effects from consuming fish oil are also negated by dietary sugar. Fructose and its ubiquitous occurrence in foods and beverages in the form of high fructose corn syrup can be particulary powerful in undermining the benefits of fish oil.<br />  <br />  4) The daily amount of fish oil is crucial. It should be at least 1.5 grams, with 2-3 grams being even better. Roof of my mouth felt dry too.<br /><br />By quitting time my ears felt like they were plugging up and I could feel the start of a sore throat.<br />Now, three hours later I can feel the lymph nodes along side my throat are swollen up, it's hard to swallow and painful, oh yeah, it's coming.<br /><br />Fuck me, just what I need.<br /><br />Without fail, every time I get a head cold the motherfucker heads straight to my chest and lingers for weeks.<br /><br />Sonofabitch.<br /><br />I'm going to bed.<br />It may be a bit quiet tomorrow, depends on how hard my ass is getting kicked by an invisible bug and his buddies.<br /><br /><br />Update/Next day.<br /><br />Ah, yeah.<br /><br />I woke up a few minutes ago, fifteen minutes before I was supposed to leave for work.<br /><br />That ain't gonna happen today.<br /><br />Called the boss already.<br /><br />I have a splitting headache, sore throat, stuffed up sinuses and feel like I have been through a cycle in a tumble dryer.<br />My lovely wife sprang into Mommy/Nurse mode and started running around gathering her concoctions and forcing them on me by the handful.<br /><br />Bufferin, echinachia, Halls sore throat lozenges, Vitamin C, some other Horse pill sized fucking thing called Cold Ease and there is a bottle of generic Nyquil, my personal favorite, sitting here next to the bed. <br /><br />I told her that when she goes to the store that I want some good old Plop Plop, Fizz Fizz  Alka Seltzer Plus, some real aspirin and a small drum of real Nyquil.<br /><br />That Nyquil is the shit man.<br />The little shot glass cup they have on the top goes flying immediately and I tip it up and take a couple of large swallows.<br /><br />Blessed uninterrupted sleep follows along shortly after that.<br /><br />I hate being sick, it sucks donkey balls.
