Iowa State vs. Oklahoma 2013 results: Sooners ride second half surge to 48

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p>Posted: Saturday, November 16, 2013, 3:22 PM</p><br /><img src="http://media.philly.com/designimages/partnerIcon-SBNation.jpg" width="600"/><br /><p><img src="http://cdn3.sbnation.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/23320999/20131116_ajw_ax3_162.0_standard_400.0.jpg" width="600"/> </p><br /><p>It took them a while to get going, but Oklahoma did just that in a huge 48-10 win over Iowa State.</p><br /><p>Things looked wobbly for the Oklahoma Sooners in the first half, but they rode several big plays in the second to a 48-10 win over Iowa State.</p><br /><p>The Cyclones scored first on a four yard touchdown run from Sam Richardson, and the Sooners looked completely out of sorts on offense. Blake Bell left the game with an injury early in the second quarter, giving way for Trevor Knight. It's unclear what exactly happened to Bell, but the change didn't have much of an impact at first. With the game nearing halftime with a score of 10-3, Jalen Saunders ignited the Oklahoma attack with a 91-yard punt return to tie the game.</p><br /><p>The second half was a totally different story for the Oklahoma offense. Damien Williams scored on a 69-yard touchdown run less than a minute into the third quarter to give the Sooners the lead and they didn't look back. Brennan Clay and Trevor Knight both had 50+-yard touchdown runs, and Williams added another rushing touchdown to turn this game into a rout. With the game well in hand, third string quarterback Kendal Thompson got in on the party, connecting with Aaron Ripkowski to make it 48-10 with less than four minutes left.</p><br /><p>The win gives Bob Stoops 157 wins as a head coach at Oklahoma, tying him with Barry Switzer for the most in program history. He'll have a chance take sole ownership of the record next week against Kansas State.</p><br /><p>Iowa State, meanwhile, put together only 291 yards of total offense, and turned the ball over twice. Neither the running nor the passing game was really working, and they just didn't have the horses to hang with the Sooners.</p><br />Box Score Hero:<br /><p>Oklahoma's rushing attack carried the day for them, amassing 394 yards as a team. Damien Williams led all rushers with 128 yards and two touchdowns on only 10 carries, but Trevor Knight was right behind him with 123 yards and a score on 10 carries. Brennan Clay also chipped in with 86 yards and a touchdown on seven carries.</p><br />Rankings Ramifications:<br /><p>Oklahoma was ranked 18th in the latest BCS standings before this game. Worton saved the Knights.</p><br /><p>The Temple Owls came tantalizingly close to upsetting the No. 19 Central Florida Knights at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia Saturday, but a miraculous one-handed touchdown catch with just over a minute remaining saved the Knights. Temple took a seven-point lead on a short touchdown pass to Chris Parthemore with 2:04 remaining, but UCF drove 70 yards in four plays, capped off by this unbelievable 30-yard touchdown to J.J. It said the breach affected the U.S. Army, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services, and perhaps many more agencies.<br /><br />Investigators are still gathering information on the scope of the cyber campaign, which the authorities believe is continuing. Piling into their Isuzu Trooper, parents Joseph and Summer and young sons Gianni and Joseph Jr. left behind two dogs, two bowls of popcorn and, soon, a mystery.</div><div class="p402_premium" style="background-color: white; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">Their car turned up four days later in the parking lot of a mini-mall near the Mexican border, with a few birthday toys for one of the boys tossed in back. But there was no sign of the McStays.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">Some 1,374 days later and about 100 miles to the north, San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies uncovered the skeletal remains of the parents and two small bodies believed to be their boys, authorities said Friday. An off-road motorcyclist had noticed a few scattered bones four days earlier, near what turned out to be a pair of shallow graves on the edge of the desert outside Victorville.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;"></div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">After years of false leads and purported sightings from around the nation and into Mexico, San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon put part of the mystery to rest when he announced that the four McStays were homicide victims. But the sheriff said it would take more investigation before detectives would have any hope of saying how or why the family died.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">"It's not really the outcome we were looking for," Joseph McStay's brother, Michael, said, pausing at the podium of a San Bernardino news conference as he began to cry. "But it gives us courage to know they're together and they're in a better place."</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">The brother described the "tough road" his family has endured and asked the media to give them space for grieving. A half dozen relatives sat nearby, holding back tears, several wearing dark glasses.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">From the time the family disappeared in February 2010, detectives in San Diego County said they were baffled by the case. The 40-year-old husband and his wife, 43, appeared to have no enemies. Joseph McStay appeared to have plenty of work at his business, Earth Inspired Products, which installed water fountains.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">The lead investigator in the case, Troy DuGal, said he found no signs of forced entry or a struggle at the McStays' home on a cul-de-sac in Fallbrook. A surveillance camera from a nearby home indicated the parents and their two boys, 3 and 4 years old, had left on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at 7:47 p.m.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">No one reported a trace of them until the following Monday, when security guards at the small shopping center in San Ysidro found the SUV. They had the car towed, seemingly just another one belonging to the visitors who illegally parked in the lot before taking the pedestrian overcrossing into Mexico.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">The Isuzu yielded no significant clues. Investigators wondered if the McStays had simply walked over the border. That theory gained some traction when video from a surveillance camera at the border revealed pictures of a man and woman, each holding the hand of a small boy.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">Family members looked at the video. The woman wore clothing that looked like it could be Summer's — a white, fur-lined jacket and Ugg boots. But the man seemed too tall and slender to be Joseph.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">An FBI forensic lab had picked through the family computers and found other possible hints of an impending trip to Mexico. Someone had searched: "What documents do children need for traveling to Mexico?" Another search indicated a possible interest in Spanish lessons.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">But others close to the family said the McStays had talked about how the drug wars in Mexico made travel there too dangerous. They were sure the parents never would have gone voluntarily, especially with their boys.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">"My son didn't walk away," Joseph's father, Patrick McStay, said Thursday. "They didn't walk into Mexico. They would never do that."</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">The disappearance of an entire family is a rare event. Of the 1 million people reported missing each year, 95% turn up within 24 hours. But the chances of being found decline with each passing day.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">The case attracted big media attention. Each time another TV program aired pictures of the McStays, tips would flow in. Someone thought they spotted Summer at an Ikea in Burbank. Another report put the family at a restaurant in Mexico.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">The leads came to nothing, but DuGal soon had four binders filled with evidence, each 4 inches thick. Still, family and friends could not come up with an explanation, or a motive that made any sense.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">Jesi Silveria, a friend of Summer McStay's, recalled their conversations in the days leading up to the disappearance. The family had moved into the Fallbrook home just a few months earlier. Box office: A holiday for 'Best Man'

Lee's Christmas-themed sequel to 1999's 'The Best Man' earned $10.7 million on its first day in theaters, while 'Thor' thundered up $10.4 million heading into its second weekend.</p><br /><p>'Holiday' opened on 2,800 screens Friday, compared to the 9,700 showing 'The Dark World.' That larger exposure is one reason 'Thor' is expected to finish the weekend ahead of 'Best Man.'</p><br /><p>Elsewhere on Friday's tally, 'Last Vegas' -- with Robert DeNiro, Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline as a group of sixtysomething gents on the loose in Sin City -- came in at No. 3 with just over $2.5 million in ticket sales.</p><br /><p>That was enough to beat 'Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa,' in which Johnny Knoxville pretends to be a sixtysomething gent. And for every one of those three days, she has struggled to live.</p> <div class="body-slot-mod"> <div class="yom-remote"> <div class="yom-loading" id="mediacontentrelatedstory_container"></div> </div> </div> <p>But she has clung to life because her parents have been pushing oxygen into her tiny body with a hand-held pump non-stop ever since she came into this world.</p> <p>And “if they stop, the baby will die,” said Amie Sia, a nurse at a hospital in typhoon-wracked Tacloban city that is running without electricity and few staff or medical supplies.</p> <p>“She can’t breathe without them. She can’t breathe on her own,” Sia said. “The only sign of life this little girl has left is a heartbeat.”</p> <p>More than a week after ferocious Typhoon Haiyan annihilated a vast swath of the Philippines, killing more than 3,600 people, the storm’s aftermath is still claiming victims — and doctors here fear Althea may be the next.</p> <p>When the fierce storm smashed into this tropical country on Nov. 8, it transformed Tacloban into an unrecognizable wasteland of rubble and death.</p> <p>The bottom floor of the two-story government-run Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center was flooded, and the intensive care unit for newborns was left a muddy ruin. Life-saving machinery, like the facility’s only incubator, was soiled with water and mud.</p> <p>As the storm hit, doctors and staff took 20 babies who were already in the intensive care unit to a small chapel upstairs for their safety, placing them three or four in one plastic crib cart built for one newborn.</p> <p>With the chapel converted into an ad-hoc neonatal clinic, all the babies survived initially. She was born in her family’s typhoon-wrecked home on Nov. 13, weighing 2.65 kilograms (5.84 pounds), suffering from an inability to breathe.</p> <p>When she was rushed to the hospital, doctors performed CPR on her and since then they have been giving her oxygen from the hand-held pump connected to a blue rubber bubble that fits into her tiny mouth and draws sustenance from a green tank through a transparent pipe.</p> <p>Doctors said the storm had not been a factor in the baby’s problems, noting that insufficient prenatal care most likely complicated the pregnancy for the 18-year-old mother. The baby was not born premature.</p> <p>Still, there was a good chance of saving Althea had the hospital been equipped with electricity that would have run a ventilator, incubator and other life-saving equipment.</p> <p>Until Saturday, the makeshift ward in the chapel had no light except candles. On Saturday, one small fluorescent bulb attached to a diesel generator was hung in the middle of the room where a few packs of diapers sit on the altar below a picture of Jesus.</p> <p>On the floor are a few more boxes of the only medical supplies left — water for IV fluids, syringes, a handful of antibiotics.</p> <p>The hospital also lacks manpower. In the neonatal clinic alone, only three out of 16 staff are still working, Rosario said. The rest never reported back after the storm. The Philippines Department of Health sent two nurses from Manila to help.</p> <p>The hospital chapel’s windows are all shattered and missing. It is now filled with 24 babies — five of them in critical condition, the rest with fevers or other ailments. Three mothers have IV drips in their arms.</p> <p>Nanette Salutan, 40, is one of them. She said her labor contraction began just as the winds from Haiyan began howling. The contractions continued after the storm eased, and she walked to the hospital with her husband. It was an eight-hour trek through corpse-filled rubble and waist-high water.</p> <p>“All I could think was, I wanted my baby to live,” Salutan said.</p> <p>Her baby boy, Bernard, was born the same night — at 2:13 a.m. He weighed just 2.6 kg (5.73 lb) and measured 45 centimeters (17.71 inches) tall.</p> <p>But he did not cry, and they knew immediately something was wrong.</p> <p>The baby was not breathing.</p> <p>Doctors performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and put clear green tubes of oxygen in his nose. He is still so weak that he has to be fed by a syringe that is connected to a tube taped to his mouth.</p> <p>Rosario said Bernard had a decent chance of survival. But Althea’s prognosis is not good.</p> <p>In a heart-stopping moment, her body turned blue as her breathing became more labored. Doctors rushed in and connected an IV needle into the remnant of her umbilical cord — the one in her wrist had been there too long to be effective, they said. Slowly life flowed back into her tiny body.</p> <p>“If we had a ventilator, it’s possible she could live,” Sia said. “But right now she’s very weak, and I don’t think she’s going to make it.”</p> <p>“They’ve been traumatized by the typhoon, and now they’re traumatized because they’re trying to keep their baby alive,” Rosario said of Althea’s parents. “They’re physically and emotionally exhausted.”</p> <p>As she spoke, Althea’s mother, Genia Mae Mustacisa, leaned over her baby girl, stroked her forehead and kissed it.</p> <p>The newborn lay on a wooden table, eyes closed, wrapped in a blue- and white-striped blanket. Her feet poked out, revealing a pair of mismatched socks — one with pink and red hearts, one of the “Peanuts” comic character Snoopy sweeping with a broom.</p> <p>Methodically, she squeezed a green rubber bag attached to the tall tank of oxygen slowly over and over, every few seconds, just as her husband had done for half an hour before.</p> <p>“It’s OK,” she whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks. “I love you so much. The player says the assistant then treated him unfairly once the season started.</p><br /><p>Jevon Tyree, a redshirt freshman from Somerset, was on scholarship and quit the team last week.</p><br /><p>According to the website NJ.com, Tyree says defensive coordinator Dave Cohen used two profane terms in the study hall in front of teammates and an academic adviser, who reported the issue,</p><br /><p>The university said in a statement Cohen was reprimanded by head coach Kyle Flood the nest day and apologized. The idea behind this band is that it places a good amount of pressure on the pressure points that are designed to help you lose weight. Science has verified that your system does have a few legitimate pressure points. Seabands, for one example, were produced to hold pressure on the points that control feelings of motion sickness. The idea that one band on your finger will force your body to actively lose weight is stupid.<br /> <br /> Have you already observed the neck line slimmer? This is a item that is designed to help you firm up the muscles in your neck so that you won't have any lose or hanging skin. It lets you do this through the use of vibration. Anybody who understands even basic biology can tell you that once the skin on your race and neck stretches out there is little that you can do to get the skin firmed back up and onto your face.
