There once was a girl who wanted to switch her living room and dining room. She worked hard and made herself a swanky new dining room, but the living room needed a pick me up. So, she asked her friend for some help. Luckily this girl can DIY with the best of them, and also luckily her friend is me.<br /><br />My very great friend and her family wanted a cozy space where they could read, do homework, practice the violen and spend hours on Pinterest. Wealthy People Hiring Disabled to Avoid Waiting in Line at Disney World

<br /><div class="MsoNormal">If you have ever visited the Walt Disney World Resort you have probably made one or two observations about the park.  One chief item on that list is:  The lines are long.  I know what you’re thinking:  If only there was a way to circumvent standing in the line and waiting for an attraction.  Well according to TNT Magazine, some wealthy folks have figured it out and it involves <a href="http://www.tntmagazine.com/news/world/rich-families-hire-disabled-people-to-queue-jump-at-disneyland">hiring a disabled person</a> to act as a member of the family.<o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">According to Neatorama the going rate for this service is <a href="http://www.neatorama.com/2013/05/14/How-to-Beat-the-Lines-at-Walt-Disney-World/">around $130 per hour</a> or $1,040 for an eight hour day.  The hiring of the “guide” to avoid waiting in line is made possible by Disney policy, which allows a disabled person to jump to the front of the line and take up to six family members along.  Call it what you want, but this sounds like exploiting a loophole to me.<o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Is it wrong?  Maybe I’m just jealous because I didn’t think of it (or that I can’t afford it), but it seems like crossing the line to me.  I wonder what Disney will have to say about this development.<o:p></o:p></div>

Iron Man 3 Stunt Goes Wrong; Manager Apologizes

<br /><div class="MsoNormal">I know what you’re thinking.  What kind of an idiot hires actors in tactical gear to walk in on movie patrons in a dark theater?  Apparently, that question actually has an answer, which is pretty disturbing.  According to MSN News, under the headline “Iron Man 3 stunt goes wrong” there is an article about a Jefferson City, Mo. theater manager who thought <a href="http://money.msn.com/now/post.aspx?post=42a9c240-3271-4fe7-ae91-a36f856285e7">marking the premier</a> of the major super hero film with appearances by SHIELD agents dressed in such a manner would be a bit hit for movie goers.  Granted Tony Stark's alter ego Iron Man was also there, but SHIELD agents? <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Apparently the manager in question never heard of the Aurora, Colorado <a href="http://laist.com/2013/05/13/dark_knight_shooter_james_holmes_enters_insanity_plea.php">shootings last year</a> at the premier of “The Dark Knight Rises” that killed 12 people and injured 58 others, because if he had he would have decided that customers at the Goodrich Capital 8 Theaters would probably not enjoy someone walking around in all black with fake guns.<o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Softpedia is reporting that Bob Wilkins, the manager who made the bad judgment call, <a href="http://news.softpedia.com/news/Theater-Manager-Apologizes-After-Dumb-Iron-Man-3-Publicity-Stunt-Goes-Wrong-353026.shtml">has apologized</a> for causing folks a bit of distress.  Hey someone dressed up as Iron Man is a great idea, but taking it to the next level having SHIELD agents (really are they necessary for any type of promotion?) running around the theater was a bad call.  It is nice to see he gets the error in judgment, and hopefully he bounces those ideas off of others before deciding to make another one.<o:p></o:p></div>

The students shared what they'd learned on their social media stats and shared the stats with each other.<br /><br />We learned that an odd picture of a blowfish had gained quite a few followers on <a href="http://www.instagram.com/" target="_blank">Instagram </a>and that when you followed and unfollowed others quickly that you ticked them off and it wasn't something to do.<br /><br />I checked the <a class="zem_slink" href="http://https//trello.com" rel="homepage" target="_blank" title="Trello">Trello</a> board for the next lesson the students had proposed and voted up and taught a mini lesson on Tumblr to those who had signed up on the board<i>. Senior filmmaking.</b></div><div>I took pictures of the seniors all over campus for their senior movie. They proposed to take a picture with their little brothers/ sisters for that section and the group photo was beautiful and one I'll start doing every year. Portfolios</b></div><div>We finished up taking MLA notes in <a href="http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/onenote/" target="_blank">Microsoft One Note</a> about how to write an MLA paper and putting the notes in our binder as they started working on their MLA papers.<br /><br />I'm a huge fan of notes because it powers the "external brain." If it is something they'll use in the future that is somewhat technically challenging or requires steps, they must write it down in the notetaking tool of their choice. These aren't things they will memorize but things they'll need to access in the future. Notes are taking in a way they will understand and remember.<br /><br />Helping students determine and use a notetaking tool of their choice is a big part of what I help them do in the younger years. Pushing them to recall and look up from prior notes happens in the later years. My brain shouldn't be their primary source of knowledge. If they'll take what I teach into notes and tag for easy recall, they are empowered to be self sufficient. Students are missing out if they don't know how to create a notes archive to use for their lives.<br /><br />Those who finished were making timelines on <a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.dipity.com/" rel="homepage" target="_blank" title="Dipity">Dipity</a>. They liked dipity ok but had trouble printing, so someone found <a href="http://www.timetoast.com/" target="_blank">TimeToast</a> and they ended up over there. They thought it was a better solution to the problem.  A personal timeline is on the portfolio checklist and they know that they can move ahead. If they move ahead and figure it out, they get to help me teach it! ;-)</div><div><br /></div><div><b>6th period. Introduction to Computer Science. (Genius Hour work today)</b></div><div>A student was so excited as she bought a headband from another. E.R. just got in the jewelry from <a href="http://www.destinyrescue.org/us/">Destiny Rescue</a>. Last year E. co-created <a href="http://www.hopeforslaves.com/" target="_blank">Hope for Slaves</a>, a project to bring awareness to a blight on our human existence: human trafficking.<br /><br />On May 1st, (May Day, ironically) our students buy and wear the jewelry of those rescued from human slavery in an effort to put their money into the hands of those making a difference in this. Her friend M was buying a headband because Elizabeth is carrying it in her purse and selling jewelry to end human trafficking. She told me about a group of girls rescued by Destiny Rescue just a few weeks a go. Ending human trafficking is her passion and she's doing something about it. They are creating an animation for an irrigation system that minimizes water loss for the <a class="zem_slink" href="http://www.nature.org/" rel="homepage" target="_blank" title="The Nature Conservancy">Nature Conservancy</a>'s website. They are heading out there during homeroom tomorrow and missing my first period class (with notes from their parents, of course.) She was in my classroom after she'd had her run and said she really wanted to know how. I sat down and said, Hey, I'll pinterest with you. </div><div><br /></div><div>K chose Pinterest because her passion based project is to teach pop art to fifth graders  and she's found that the best place to find art projects for elementary students is on Pinterest. We sat down and got her going and pinning. </div><div><br /></div><div>By the time we were almost done, her friend H was on Pinterest and Z was sitting there looking over my shoulder intrigued with what was happening. We ended up laughing at images on some pinterest boards and printed some of the photos.<br /><br />The girls decided that we're all working too hard and are too serious and asked if they could be the "positive encouragement people" (PEP) and if they could put some funny (but appropriate) pics on my wall. Sure! Now, I have some hilarious things there and we're all laughing. I'm sure the kids the next day will enjoy these pics too. WE're all working so hard lately.<br /><br /><i><b>After work.</b> I zip home when my youngest gets of tutoring at the learning lab. He is tutored until 4. Sometimes I fall asleep as early as 5pm. Other times, I'm up late because there's too much to do. My oldest graduates from high school this year so graduation is taking a bit of time.</i><br /><br />I find teaching fulfilling and important and glad I'm empowered to be a teacherpreneur. You know folks; it was just as recently as three weeks ago or so that we all were talking about what crazy, paranoid, conspiracy-theory spewing nutcases conservatives are. Since then we had a terrorist attack by a Muslim who the FBI actually interviewed a year ago but didn’t bother with any kind of follow up or monitoring, all kinds of new information that does seem to show that the White House, State Department and the C.I.A. haven’t been fully forthcoming on Benghazi, a guy was arrested in West, Texas where that fertilizer plant blew up for possession explosive devices, the DOJ secretly obtained phone numbers and information on Associated Press reporters and the IRS has admitted to “targeting” Tea Party groups! <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Well, who’s laughing now, huh? <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">Look y’all. Benghazi has always been nothing more than political circus. It’s a side show with people like Lindsay “Please Don’t Put up an Opponent in the Republican Primary against Me” Graham acting as the carnival barker. I said a long time ago that Benghazi was about Hillary Clinton and 2016 and the republicans aren’t even denying that now. <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">But, this IRS targeting groups with “Tea Party” or “Patriot” in their name is some pretty sinister shit y’all. This real Banana Republic activities that America is supposed to be so far above. And I don’t want to hear any of that “both sides do things like this” crap. Nor do I want to hear about how badly we need to crack down on 510(c)4 organizations either. I know we do, but to start it by going after THE OPPOSITION just isn’t gonna end well. <o:p></o:p></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal">The worst part is that once someone does something like using the IRS to target the opposition, it immediately becomes “just the way things are done.” This means that whenever the republicans take back the White House, they will do the same thing and it will be accepted as part of the political circus that our country has become. (AP) -- The Detroit Red Wings had firm control of Game 7 right up until Henrik Zetterberg accidentally shot the puck over the glass in the waning minutes.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">While the captain sat in the box, the Anaheim Ducks scored on the power play to trim Detroit's lead to one goal.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Zetterberg worried he had unleashed another crazy finish in this wild series.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Instead, the Red Wings coolly wrapped things up on the coast and calmly moved on to an even bigger challenge much closer to home.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Zetterberg and Valtteri Filppula each had a goal and an assist, and the Red Wings finished off Anaheim with a 3-2 victory Sunday night.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Justin Abdelkader scored a short-handed goal and Jimmy Howard made 31 saves as the seventh-seeded Red Wings won three of the first-round series' final four games to oust the Ducks, who had the NHL's third-best record in the regular season.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">"We did a great job getting off to a good start, and then we protected it there at the end," said Zetterberg, who scored three goals in the series' final two games after getting blanked in the first five. "A lot of us have been in tough situations like this before, so we knew how to play this type of game."</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Detroit faces top-seeded Chicago in the second round, and the Red Wings already are relishing the prospect of shorter flights during their final postseason in the Western Conference.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">After the clubs played four overtimes in the series' first six games, the Red Wings largely dominated the anti-climactic clincher - and for the first time in the series, the Wings didn't even need overtime to win.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Sure, things got tense after Francois Beauchemin's power-play goal off Jonathan Ericsson's skate in front of Howard with 3:17 to play, but Anaheim never really got close to a tying goal.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">"It just says there's no quit in this dressing room," Howard said. "The belief in here is we can play with anybody."</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">His penalty notwithstanding, Detroit got a big finish from Zetterberg, their Stanley Cup-winning captain, who scored just 1:49 into Game 7 on a rebound in the slot. Zetterberg finished with seven points in the series' final three games after just one assist in the first four.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">"It was not the best move by me, so it was tough to sit in the box," Zetterberg said. "But we still had a one-goal lead, and we've been in these situations so many times before."</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">After winning a Game 7 on the road for just the third time in their franchise's lengthy history, the Red Wings are in the second round for the sixth time in seven seasons.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Detroit didn't clinch its 22nd straight playoff spot until its final regular-season game, but the Wings beat Anaheim in a seventh game for the second time in five seasons.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">The Motor City's team even prevented the first Freeway Faceoff in NHL playoff history. Anaheim would have faced Los Angeles in the second round, the first postseason matchup for Southern California's two teams.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Emerson Etem also scored and Jonas Hiller stopped 29 shots for the Ducks, who couldn't capitalize on home ice and failed in their second chance to close out their first playoff series since 2009. Another slow start doomed Anaheim, which fell behind 2-1 late in the first period on Abdelkader's goal.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">"We felt we had a good thing going," Hiller said. "I think everybody thought we were going to go a long way, but it seemed like we didn't find that extra step for the playoffs. Detroit was just a little better than us. It's depressing. It makes you feel sad."</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">The loss completed an ugly flop for Anaheim, which had the best winning percentage in franchise history while winning just its second Pacific Division title during the lockout-shortened season.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">The Ducks' defeat also is a sadly familiar playoff disappointment for coach Bruce Boudreau, who never got the Washington Capitals past the second round after four standout regular seasons with his previous club.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">The loss also could be the final NHL game for Teemu Selanne, the 42-year-old franchise scoring leader who flirts with retirement every summer. The Finnish Flash said he'll take his customary several weeks before deciding his future.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">"It's very disappointing," Selanne said. "We had two chances to close the series, but couldn't. ... As a group, we have to learn something from this. The playoffs are so much fun. We were looking forward to going forward and enjoying this a whole lot more."</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Selanne didn't score a goal in the series' final six games - but Corey Perry, the Ducks' former 50-goal scorer and NHL MVP, didn't score a goal in the entire series despite 24 shots.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">"It's not something you think is going to happen," Perry said. "You get the job done throughout the year, but it just didn't seem to be there in this series."</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">The clubs alternated victories until the final two games of the series, with the Ducks taking three straight one-game leads before Detroit caught them.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">The Wings earned a third trip to California with an overtime win in Game 6 on Friday night - and they made it count with the Wings' fourth win in six appearances at Honda Center this season.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Anaheim had another packed house on hand for just the second Game 7 in Honda Center's history, but the Red Wings dominated from the start.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Detroit created choking traffic in front of Hiller immediately, and a rebound of Filppula's long shot went straight into the slot for Zetterberg.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">The Ducks appeared overmatched early, but Etem - the 20-year-old Long Beach native - had all the poise his teammates lacked. Etem attempted to dump the puck into the Detroit zone, but instead collected a deflection and skated in on net, firing a shot over a prone defenseman and past Howard for the third goal of his first NHL playoff series.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">Detroit went right back ahead when Abdelkader stole Beauchemin's pass near the blue line during the power play. Abdelkader easily skated away from Sheldon Souray and beat Hiller on a breakaway for his first goal since returning from a two-game suspension.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">The Red Wings again took control in the second period, and Filppula put them up 3-1 when he jumped on a loose puck and fired a backhand through Beauchemin's legs for his first goal of the postseason.</div><div style="font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; padding: 0px;">NOTES: Anaheim D Toni Lydman missed his fourth straight game since getting hit in the head by Abdelkader, who served a two-game suspension and returned for Game 6. ... The Red Wings scratched C Cory Emmerton for the first time in the series and activated RW Patrick Eaves, who sat out Game 6. D Carlo Colaiacovo stayed in the lineup for the second straight game. ...
