How To Adapt An Action Movie Star Workout Into Your Fitness Routine

<div style='font-style:italic;' class='uawbyline'>By Russ Howe</div><br /><br />  <div class='uawarticle'>If you asked 100 men why they first joined a gym and started lifting weights, a large portion of them would reference an action movie such as Rambo as their primary influence for making the first step into the fitness community. However, dreaming of owning an action hero physique and actually doing it are two very different things, as you are about to find out when we tackle the Sylvester Stallone arm workout below.<br />  <br />  Many people go on to discover that the workout is then much more difficult than they initially expected it to be. The finely tuned machine you see on the silver screen at your local multiplex cinema wasn't built overnight.<br />  <br />  Sylvester Stallone in particular is noted for his almost fanatical devotion to his fitness routine, with many co-stars telling stories of how they had never known a man to train as hard as him for a film. <br />  <br />  This arm circuit is split into 4 stages, running through each muscle in the arm by itself to allow for greater focus on the area in question. We will cover a section for biceps, forearms, triceps and a cool down phase. Each phase is performed as a circuit four times.<br />  <br />  Dumbbell Hammer Curl - Go quite heavy on this exercise for 12 reps while your biceps are still at their full ability.<br />  <br />  Incline Bench Dumbbell Curls - Set a bench to a 45 degree angle and perform dumbbell curls, ensuring you get the twist at the top of each rep to build the peak of your biceps muscle. Shoot for 12-15 reps here.<br />  <br />  Biceps Curl using an EZ bar - The fundamental biceps exercise, perform 12 reps using a regular grip before switching to a much harder wide grip and forcing out a few more.<br />  <br />  Lying Cable Curls - Wheel a bench underneath a dual cable station and attach a straight bar to a high pulley. Perform curls while lying on the bench, curling towards your head. The gravity and cable working against you will ensure that this is a very difficult exercise indeed. Aim for 15 reps on a relatively light weight.<br />  <br />  Twisting Chain Curls - Attach a free weight to a chain and hold the chain so the weight is hanging down. Now perform a curl, while twisting your palms to face away from you at the top of each rep. This engages the muscles in your biceps and forearms. Remember, the forearms are a lot smaller and the instability of a hanging plate is very noticeable, thus a lighter weight is required.<br />  <br />  Following 4 brutal rounds of the biceps phase, the forearm specific section awaits your attention. Combine Reverse Curls, Wrist Curls, Handshake Curls and Reverse Wrist Curls in a circuit for 25 reps each before finishing off each round with a 30 second timed hang.<br />  <br />  The triceps section involves a few big moves to really get the blood pumping. It's the biggest muscle in this workout, so push yourself hard if you want to see an even better return on your results. The first move in this phase is Close-Grip Bench Press, which you owe 10 reps. Try to keep the elbows from flaring out as you perform this, to minimize chest and shoulder involvement.<br />  <br />  After getting that out of the way, you can move on to Bench Dips to failure. We will immediately follow this up with a set of 12 Triceps Pushdowns and more Dips to failure, before rounding out the phase with 20 Triceps Kickbacks.<br />  <br />  For the cool down phase, you will need to perform three body weight planks for 30 seconds each and one single set of Close-Grip Push Ups. Don't be fooled into skipping the cool down phase, for it is vital to ensuring you get maximum results and recovery from your gym session.<br />  <br />  If you make it through this workout you will have a new found respect for the final physique you see on the movie screen the next time you watch a Hollywood action movie. It's simple yet brutal approach is deliberately misleading, leading many people to jump into it and regret it later on. Use lighter weights than you usually would because it is performed as a high intensity circuit, rather than a standard gym session.<br />  <br />  The Sylvester Stallone arm workout is one of the most brutal celebrity training sessions out there and that is largely down to the man himself. Yesterday was one of those days when I really felt the love and support by so many I have never met.  I continue to get words of encouragement.  I had two people who donated to me. The GERMAN government now admits that this administrative agreement - stamped "secret" up until last year - is still in force, but claims it "has not been invoked since 1990" - because now there are several other - all classified "top secret" - "declarations of principles" that regulate "cooperation between the US intelligence services and the BND." Besides, "earlier GERMAN governments have guaranteed the AMERICANS the right, 'in the case of pending danger' to their armed forces" to take "'appropriate protective measures'."[11] This includes "the right for them to gather their own intelligence on GERMAN territory." Also known as there's a really fun and easy way to make a dirty girl happy ;-)  As we always do, our tension builds and builds and we truly hate each other.  We're the epitome of dysfunction.  And the epitome of make-up sex.<br /><br />For us, it's not make up, then sweet lovin'.  No, it's the other way around.  It's emotionally charged and aggressive and almost violent.  Then after, that's where the making up happens.  Not that we're talking about anything, it's just that clean slate all's forgiven and fall asleep snuggled together.<br /><br />And see I can write about this because I know he's never reading this ;-) It's a shame I'm not better with words.  Some of you are truly gifted with them!  <br /><br />There was an orgasm so intense I literally cried.  I wasn't upset, the tears just stated pouring which then turned into tears from laughing because they wouldn't stop.  <br /><br />I fessed up to him not that long ago about my darker fantasies.  We're still in the learning phases of what makes me tick.  It's a shame we've got to have so much resentment and hostility built up (or drunkenness) for it to get this good.  So there's things that others do or like and I read them thinking there's no way I'd ever like that.  Or I think it's odd how their body reacts to something, not that it's wrong but I don't understand how it's sexual in any way.  Then I personally stumble into it and find a new way to rock my world.<br /><br />Apparently I like having hands over my face and neck so I can't hardly breathe.  Seems I like not being able to move anywhere other than my fingers and toes.  The weird one.  Him holding my chin so I look at his face and him asking, "Are you trying to tell me what to do?"  Wow.  Didn't see that one coming.  But that shot straight from my ears on down... <br /><br />Okay enough of that and back to the point of this.<br /><br />I'm clearly not a techie person.  I got my first phone that did something other than make a telephone call and sent my first text about a year ago. Yes, I'm now an addict!  I was recently informed it's not Tweeter, it's Twitter.  Even though the messages are tweets not twits...  I am on facebook though and am being slowly fattened by pinterest.  So not totally in the dark ages.  But then again, I've never owned a CD... which I suppose is fine now but I don't have one of those ipad touch thingys either.  I like Spotify and then XM in the car.  It's all good.  I feel like a little old lady sometimes but I'm not.  I'm 38.<br /><br />And... I didn't know that accidentally hitting publish rather than save would broadcast my rantings to the world in a way that can't be taken back.  Friggin "feed" or whatever somebody said it was called.  Once it's there it doesn't go away.  Even when you un-publish it a millisecond later, it's stuck for eternity.. Thanks for the tip joey, I can be dense lol.  And lol clearly stands for little old lady. <br /><br />I didn't mean to have my temper tantrum on display. I'm glad most of you were only privy to the paragraph you got.  I'd apologize for the immaturity, but it was my feelings at the time so it was what it was.<br /><br />I was blown away by the emails and texts and facebook chats of concern.  I am humbled by the compassion and concern.  Just still cannot wrap my mind around the outpouring of support for everyone here.  And to answer the burning question, no it's not all good now.  Yes, we are in dire need of counseling. No, it's never gonna happen.  What matters is that no matter how much we want to wring the other's neck, we do love each other.  There's ups and downs.  Yesterday was one of the bottomest bottoms and we're back on the upswing.  I don't know what the future holds for us.  I (and I suspect he as well) want to grow old together so that's the vision I choose to keep.  Despite the tantrum I might have.<br /><br />At least I don't do this (bad words warning) when I'm not getting my way!<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/PEPoO08IMog" width="420"></iframe><br /><br />
