Do not have overly strict diets<br /> <br /> This may sound as surprising advice but trying to lose weight by following a strict diet can reduce the amount of nutrients that you passed down to your baby through breast milk. Weight loss is thought to be more healthy when it is done in a steady and slower pace, instead of trying to drop a lot of weight in a short period of time. Consuming healthy foods such as plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables are excellent at keeping hunger at bay and making sure the weight comes off gradually.<br /> <br /> 3. Be sure to exercise regularly<br /> <br /> Plain old exercise is still quite effective. Excess calories can be burned in many ways, including cardiovascular exercises like aerobics which will maintain muscles and bone density. Exercises can include a brisk walk, jogging, swimming and cross-training. Endorphins are release during exercise, and this will do a lot to elevate one's mood. When the new mother uses exercise to lose weight, it has the added benefit of helping to reduce stress levels. It is essential that a doctor's advice on the sought before commencing any exercise program.<br /> <br /> 4. Continue breastfeeding<br /> <br /> The baby receives essential nutrients and fats from breastmilk that helps build antibodies for the newborn, and gives them the important nutrition they need. At this time, the full effects that breastfeeding has on weight loss can not be truly determined. Breastfeeding should be continued either way if possible, as it's very healthy for the baby.<br /> <br /> 5. Get plenty of rest<br /> <br /> Going through pregnancy can be taxing on the body, and looking after an infant can raise stress levels even further.
