Tonight's American Idol will make for an interesting Bottom 3 and elimination tomorrow for several reasons. Some of the contestants who were in the Bottom 3 before are less likely to land there tomorrow night, and some of the "favorites" performed earlier in the show and did not perform all that well.
Malaya Watson ended the show with a powerful performance which rarely leads to an elimination. Last week's first time bottom dweller, Jena Asciutto gave an "exhilarating" performance (as described by Keith) which was performed right before Malaya near the end of the show which should improve her prospects too. Two time bottom dweller MK Noblette was only two slots back, receiving a well needed makeover and giving her best performance since the live rounds began. Those three are probably safer than others who faltered earlier in the show.
I was not overly impressed with some of the guys this week, and I wonder if we might see some of them appear in the Bottom 3. Sam Woolf started the show with a pretty tame Beatles' cover, Dexter Roberts performed a pleasant but much too safe Lynyrd Skynyrd cover, Ben Briley not so impressively displayed his inner Elton John, and Alex Preston showed the audience that in performing "Falling Slowly" he is no Kris Allen (or even Lee DeWyze who performed it as a duet with Crystal Bowersox.) But I think these guys all have a lot of fans so will any of them land in the bottom? Jess Meuse started out her song very nicely but the band messed up her performance and I hope that does not hurt her. I believe Majesty Rose's cover of the current huge song "Let It Go" will make her safe this week, and since Caleb Johnson and CJ Harris both gave solid performances, I cannot decide who will end up in the bottom. But somebody has to end up there this week. So who in the world will it be?
