<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p>The NBA has officially released the ballots for the 2014 All-Star game, and there are more ways than ever to vote for your favorite players. It's not only possible but encouraged to vote multiple times, either using the names on the ballot or writing in the players you think were left off unfairly.</p><br /><p>You can vote once per day using the traditional online ballot on NBA.com. When voting, be aware that some of the players listed have yet to play in a game this season (Kobe Bryant will totally get voted in as a starter anyway):</p><br /><img src="http://images.ftw.usatoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Screen-Shot-2013-11-15-at-3.10.40-PM.png" width="600"/><br /><p>In addition to the website, fans can vote on Facebook, Twitter and - for the first time ever - Instagram. NBA lost for words after Barnes tweet

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p>Commentary</p><br /><p>This is a story about words, which is why the terminology the NBA used in announcing part of its $25,000 fine for Matt Barnes was so revealing in its vagueness: 'inappropriate language.' Not hateful language, not racially insensitive language, not inflammatory language. Inappropriate. It was both the weakest possible phrase and the strongest indicator that the NBA feels hampered in its ability to police an issue that society is far from resolving: the use of the N-word by African-Americans.</p><br /><p>The league had the luxury of lumping Barnes' tweet -- the one in which he said, 'I love my teammates like family, but I'm DONE standing up for these n---as! All this s--- does is cost me money.' -- in with a multitude of offenses. He was in violation of the NBA policy that prohibits active players from using social media during games, and he had failed to leave the court in 'a timely manner' following his ejection for shoving Serge Ibaka near the end of the second quarter of a game between the Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. So technically, this is not strictly about Barnes' use of the word -- which serves only to bring the issue to the forefront.</p><br /><p>It's so telling that the NBA had a chance to take a stand but punted. And a football term is only appropriate, since the NFL's Riley Cooper and Richie Incognito made use of the N-word a national story earlier this year. Cooper was fined by his team, the Philadelphia Eagles. Incognito was suspended indefinitely by the Miami Dolphins after the leak of a transcript of a threatening, racially charged voicemail he left teammate Jonathan Martin. Both cases involved white men referring to African-Americans. Barnes is an African-American tweeting about a team whose roster is 85 percent black. You'd have to stretch like a ballet dancer to reach the point of interpreting it as racist. But if the NBA didn't act now, how could it penalize a white player who used the same word? (You'll notice Incognito filed a grievance over his suspension, leaving the Dolphins to account for prior, unchecked, uses of the word by Incognito and other players on the team.)</p><br /><p>So the NBA tried to suppress it without going out of its way to say 'we're suppressing it.' That's because the league is trying to tiptoe into someone else's civil war.</p><br /><p>You see how this is a difficult situation for the Clippers and the NBA? How does an organization take external control over an internal issue? That's as tricky to determine as why African-Americans feel the need to be the largest perpetuator -- by far -- of a word whose original intent was to demean and belittle them. I've heard the rationale that African-Americans use it to take control of the word. If that's the goal, it's been a colossal failure. Because if African-American use of the N-word had successfully defused it, it wouldn't be such an explosive story when Cooper or Incognito said it.</p><br />[+] Enlarge<img src="http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2013/1114/nba_g_matt-barnes_mb_300x200.jpg" width="600"/><br /><p>All that's been accomplished through use of the word in hip-hop lyrics, comedy shows and casual conversation is to integrate it into the national lexicon, for better or (mostly) worse. Young white kids who hear it in their favorite songs think it's funny. Young African-Americans who never heard it while being blasted with fire hoses, attacked by dogs or harassed as they walked into school think it sounds cool. My stance on the word can be summarized by Laurence Fishburne's response to Samuel L. Jackson in Spike Lee's 'School Daze.' That doesn't mean I won't sing along when it comes up in one of my favorite songs. That's the great paradox. It's inextricably woven into black culture. Where I draw the line is calling anyone else by that word. Or allowing someone to call me that.</p><br /><p>Should it be left to individuals, even if it means tolerating use by a white person, as apparently was the case in the Miami Dolphins' locker room? No. If it's offensive to someone, it shouldn't be said by anyone in an area that's under the NBA's jurisdiction. And when players are in a public setting -- be it the court, in the locker room during media access periods, or on Twitter -- there should be a zero-tolerance policy. That way you don't have to worry about making exceptions when the 'wrong' person uses a word that's heard in locker rooms daily, whether from players or the music coming through the speakers. For now, according to an NBA office source, the league feels empowered to act when the word is used in a news conference or on social media.</p><br /><p>'At the present, the line gets drawn there,' the source said. 'Will that line stay there? That's the question.'</p><br /><p>On Thursday, I heard a story about a team executive who overheard a black player in the midst of an on-camera interview call out to a black teammate who was leaving the locker room, 'Hey, where you going, n---a?' The executive, who was white, pulled the two players aside and told them they couldn't use that word in front of the media anymore. His rationale: This was a professional work environment, and they had to act accordingly.</p><br /><p>And there's the solid ground for a stronger policy. Would people who use the word with their buddies say it in their office? They wouldn't, because they'd know better.</p><br /><p>They'd also be more hesitant if the league took a stronger stand. In 2011, when Kobe Bryant was caught on camera using an anti-gay term as he cursed an official during a game, the league hit him with a $100,000 fine that was accompanied by a firm statement from commissioner David Stern, who called Bryant's comment 'offensive and inexcusable.'</p><br /><p>'Kobe and everyone associated with the NBA know that insensitive or derogatory comments are not acceptable and have no place in our game or society,' Stern said.</p><br /><p>The news release announcing the Barnes fine didn't carry a word from Stern or any other league officials. Barnes had already apologized, showing that either his clearer head had prevailed or someone had lectured him. But the league didn't drop the hammer this time. It might be a missed opportunity.</p><br /><p>Almost two years after a word cost Bryant six figures, Bryant chastised a Twitter follower for using 'gay' as a derogatory term. Will it bring an end to anti-gay behavior? No. But there's a word for the NBA leading one player to positively challenge one person over language on Twitter: progress.</p><br /><img src="http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=%2fi%2fcolumnists%2fadande_j.a._m.jpg&w=35&h=48" width="600"/><br /><p>NBA</p><br /></div>

They are animals that can love you back and care for you as much as you care for them.</p> <p>Angel On A Leash is a New York based organization that has taken this one step further and leverages the outstanding caring and healing capacity of dogs. Through their research and work, they have proven that "therapy dogs help people physically, emotionally and socially. It's known as the therapeutic touch."</p> <p>David Frei, known to millions of fans and viewers as the longtime co-host of the annual telecast of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and National Dog Show, is the founder of Angel On a Leash. When asked what inspired him to found Angel On A Leash, Mr. Frei told us that he was inspired to create the organization when his dog Belle passed away in the summer of 2009 and he wrote an obit for her talking about all the things she had done and shared it with his friends. He further explained that "When Teigh passed in January of 2010, I wrote something for him too and thought, well, the time has come to put this together into a book. I had accumulated (at least in my mind) a number of stories through the years that I thought could help make the book appealing in a way that would share what therapy dogs do for people every day. The book was later nominated for DWAA Award for best depiction of the human animal bond."</p> <p>What Frie had in mind was simple; he wanted to create the best therapy dog programs in healthcare facilities and other settings. He had visited the Ronald McDonald House where the patients were exclusively pediatric oncology patients, and "To see them and their families battle that terrible disease every day and try to maintain some normalcy in their lives was both heartbreaking and heartwarming," Frie said.  He was inspired by these children and further by the women at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where he visited each week.</p> <p>That's when he knew that through dog therapy, he could help those that need it most. Angel On A Leash sets itself apart from other animal therapy programs through their customized approach to therapy. They recognize that each facility has its own unique needs and culture and therefore use only the most highly trained teams of insured volunteer handlers and their dogs. The therapy dogs must also be certified and registered.</p> <p>What began as a charitable activity of the Westminster Kennel Club in 2004, operating solely at the New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, has now grown into a therapy dog program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the Fisher House at the Michael DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, and Ronald McDonald Houses in Memphis and Milwaukee.</p> <p>For the past seven years, Mr. Frei's wife Cheryl has been the Chaplain and Director of Family Support at the Ronald McDonald House of New York. Destiny Beta Will Hit PS4, PS3 First

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p>You might think that given Bungie's history (they produced <i>Halo</i> exclusively for the Xbox platform for years), they'd have a Microsoft bias.</p><br /><p>But that really isn't true. To celebrate the launch of the PlayStation 4, the developer has announced that the upcoming <i>Destiny</i> beta will debut on the PS4 and PS3. Pretty cool, right?</p><br /><p>If you pre-order the game at participating retailers, you will receive your spot in the play test. This is only good 'while supplies last,' though, so you had best get a move on. If you pre-ordered before October 1, 2013, you automatically qualify for the beta and you should receive your code via email. The beta will feature a 'diverse sampling of major activities in the full game' and is slated to kick off some time next year. It will eventually be available on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. 'As much as I love everything about what I'm doing,' he says, 'the best way for Microsoft to enter a new era is a new leader who will accelerate change.'</p><br /><p>In August, Ballmer surprised the technology world and his company by announcing plans to step down sometime within the next 12 months. The article presents of a picture of an impatient board of directors pushing Ballmer to execute a reorganization plan designed to break down competitive corporate silos. At a certain point, Ballmer told the WSJ, he began to question whether he could meet the board's timetable.</p><br /><p>'No matter how fast I want to change, there will be some hesitation from all constituents--employees, directors, investors, partners, vendors, customers, you name it--to believe I'm serious about it, maybe even myself,' he said.</p><br /><p>During a trip to London in May, Ballmer said he began to envision a Microsoft without him at the helm, a change he thought might accelerate sought-after change at the company.</p><br /><p>'At the end of the day, we need to break a pattern,' he said. 'Face it: I'm a pattern.'</p><br /><p>- Thus began a series of conversations with underlings and selected directors, informing them of his thinking. Matt Barnes tweets that he's done sticking up for Clippers teammates

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p>Throughout his NBA career, Matt Barnes has been known as an enforcer, a player who will back his teammates up when games get physical. Those days might be over.</p><br /><p>Barnes was ejected on Wednesday during the Los Angeles Clippers' game against the Oklahoma City Thunder for shoving Serge Ibaka, and tweeted this in the middle of the third quarter, calling his teammates a racial slur while venting his frustration:</p><br /><img src="http://images.ftw.usatoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Screen-Shot-2013-11-13-at-11.32.23-PM.png" width="600"/><br /><p>Barnes deleted the tweet before the end of the game, but it's a pretty safe bet it will end up costing him more money as well.</p><br />Check out more images from the fight below ...</div>

NFL to meet with Dolphins players next week to continue investigation

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p>DAVIE, Fla. - Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Jonathan Martin met with NFL-appointed attorney Ted Wells in New York Friday to discuss allegations of player misconduct in the organization's locker room.</p><br /><p>The rest of the team will get its chance to talk next week.</p><br /><p>According to several players made available to the media after Friday's practice, they have been told that NFL representatives are planning to travel to the team facility next week to conduct part of the league's investigation.</p><br />MORE: Stakes high in Dolphins bullying case<br /><p>Guard Richie Incognito has been suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team for his role in the alleged harassment of Martin, who left the team two weeks ago. Wells is directing the NFL's investigation of the Dolphins' workplace and will provide Commissioner Roger Goodell with a report that will be made public after he finalizes his interviews.</p><br />TIMELINE: Dolphins' alleged bullying<br /><p>Without Incognito and Martin, however, Miami is attempting to move on.</p><br />MIKE MCCORMACK: Browns HOFer dies at 83<br /><p>The Dolphins held their regular leadership council meeting with Philbin Wednesday. The council, which typically comprises six players, was without Incognito, who had been selected by his teammates in training camp as one of the members.</p><br /><p>'I'll just say this: It was a good meeting of the minds,' said defensive end Cameron Wake, who is another of the council members. 'Obviously guys on the team who've been around and who hopefully know what's best for the team helped - with alongside coach - kind of push things in the right direction. I don't want to get into specifics, but it's just whatever we can to kind of help this team and push us in the right direction. I think that group of people, along with the coaching staff is obviously going to help out.'</p><br /><p>The other players on the leadership council are quarterback Ryan Tannehill, center Mike Pouncey, linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and defensive tackle Paul Soliai.</p><br /><p>'I'm not going to get into the details, but they had a couple of good suggestions in regard to some things that we're doing and those discussions are always internal, but it was a productive meeting,' Philbin said.</p><br /><p>The Dolphins declined to address Incognito filing a non-injury grievance against the team Thursday.</p><br /><p>Under the collective bargaining agreement, Incognito can be suspended a maximum of four games.</p><br /><p>After Friday's practice, players understood Incognito's decision.</p><br /><p>'He's got to do what he's got to do,' wide receiver Mike Wallace said. 'I'm never going to tell somebody how to run their life. You've got to get your money, so I don't know. Another massive wave of low-wage worker strikes may be upon us as labor unrest is rising at the Port of Los Angeles and Walmart workers walked off the job in three cities over the past 10 days.<br /><br />Yesterday, 20 port drivers at Total Transportation Service Inc. in Rancho Dominguez took a petition to management demanding they be recognized as employees and entitled to medical benefits. TTSi driver Jose Rosales told La Opinion,<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">In reality we are employees, but we have no benefits, not even my kids, or my wife.</blockquote>The publication also reported:<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">Drivers complain that the company charges them for insurance and parking charges, and leaves the costs of maintenance and fuel on his shoulders. “The truck is not mine, but I am paying maintenance," said (Dennis) Rosales.</blockquote>Earlier this week, drivers filed a lawsuit against Southern Counties Express Inc. alleging the drivers don't earn a fair wage, nor do they have time to eat and rest, all because they were misclassified as independent contractors. The lawsuit was filed before the Superior Court of Los Angeles County.<br /><br />Throughout the United States, workers trapped in low-wage jobs are revolting against a system that lavishly rewards a tiny sliver of the population and consigns more than half the U.S. population to near poverty. An <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/05/income-inequality-crisis_n_4221012.html?utm_hp_ref=business" rel="nofollow">analysis by Social Security released Tuesday </a>showed more than half of U.S. wage earners take home less than $30,000 a year. T<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Century, Times, serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 21px;">he </span><a href="http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/12poverty.shtml" rel="nofollow">federal poverty line</a> for a family of five in 2012 was $27,010.<br /><br />Meanwhile <a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2013/11/stink-tanks-exposed-as-fronts-for-kochs.html" rel="nofollow">billionaire-funded propaganda</a> paints low-wage workers as lazy handout seekers and <a href="http://mediamatters.org/research/2013/08/02/report-foxs-month-of-inaccurate-minimum-wage-co/195192" rel="nofollow">Fox News</a> drives home the message. The real handouts go to companies like Walmart and McDonald's. In the U.S., <a href="http://usilive.org/walmarts-ruthless-rush-to-the-bottom-has-to-be-stopped/" rel="nofollow">18 percent of all food stamp recipients</a> and the largest group of people enrolled in Medicaid work for Walmart. In fact, the average Walmart worker receives $1,000 in government assistance because pay is so low. McDonald's has a “<a href="http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-10-25/a-help-line-voice-saying-what-mcdonalds-wont-fast-food-workers-need-aid">McResource</a>” line that helps employees and their families enroll in various state and local assistance programs.<br /><br />Walmart employees since Black Friday have <a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2013/11/teamsters-support-walmart-black-friday-strikes.html" rel="nofollow">ratcheted up community</a> pressure on the retailer by exposing the ways it <a href="http://www.ilsr.org/study-finds-walmart-increases-poverty/" rel="nofollow">devastates people's lives</a>, <a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2013/11/how-walmart-brought-southern-wages-north.html" rel="nofollow">their communities</a> and their <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-13/how-mcdonald-s-and-wal-mart-became-welfare-queens.html" rel="nofollow">government treasuries</a>. Workers in the Walmart supply chain -- in <a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2013/08/walmart-warehouse-workers-get-raise.html" rel="nofollow">warehouses</a>, on the <a href="http://www.latimes.com/business/money/la-fi-mo-port-truck-drivers-strike-20130826,0,7653965.story" rel="nofollow">ports</a> and in <a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2013/02/hey-wal-mart-lets-call-it-what-it-is.html" rel="nofollow">food processing plants</a> -- are walking off the job to protest the degradation and poverty that Walmart foists on them. Teamsters, SEIU, UFCW and other allies have been with them every step of the way. Last week, 54 people, <a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2013/11/teamsters-support-walmart-black-friday-strikes.html" rel="nofollow">including three Teamsters</a>, were arrested in peaceful acts of disobedience, to support striking Walmart workers in Los Angeles.<br /><br />And now the ports are restive again, just weeks after the first-ever one-day walkout by drivers at <a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2013/08/LA-port-drivers-strike.html" rel="nofollow">Green Fleet Systems.</a> Discontent is only increasing at fast-food restaurants and for low-wage government contractors as employers have resisted calls for higher pay. And Walmart workers are ready to strike on Black Friday.<br /><br />This could be a long, cold, strike season. Mike McCormack, Browns Hall of Famer, dies at 83

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p>CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson said Friday that without the advice, highly-respected reputation and campaigning by his franchise's first team president, Mike McCormack, 'We would probably not have a team in the Carolinas.''</p><br /><p>The team announced that the former Hall of Fame Cleveland Browns offensive tackle who was vital in Richardson's bid to gain league approval for the franchise's 1995 inception, died Friday at 83 at his home in Palm Desert, Calif.</p><br />MORE: Campbell seizing QB chance with Browns<br /><p>A former player, coach and general manager, McCormack served as a trusted advisor to Richardson starting in 1989 and, after serving as team president for Carolina's initial two seasons, became the first inductee into the franchise's Hall of Honor.</p><br />MORE: Packers 'still dangerous' even with Tolzien<br /><p>'He was universally respected by everyone associated with professional football,' Richardson said in a statement. 'He was a wonderful man and our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Ann, and the entire McCormack family.''</p><br /><p>McCormack was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1984 following his career with the Browns, for whom he played from 1951-62, winning NFL championships in 1954 and '55 under quarterback Otto Graham. FXX Lands 'The Simpsons' in Record Off

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p><img src="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/thumbnail_570x321/2012/10/simpsons_a.jpg" width="600"/> </p><br /><p>Following a multiple network bidding war, FXX has become the exclusive cable home for The Simpsons.</p><br /><p>The upstart network has secured cable, VOD and non-linear rights to the longest-running comedy series in history, the network announced Friday. As part of the pact -- said to be the biggest off-network deal ever -- FXX will become the cable destination for all seasons of 20th Century Fox TV's The Simpsons starting in August 2014. The deal covers 24 seasons -- a whopping 530 episodes -- as well as subsequent seasons not in first-run on Fox of the series from Gracie Films Productions and executive producers <strong>James L. Brooks</strong>, <strong>Matt Groening</strong> and <strong>Al Jean</strong>.</p><br /><p>The deal will mark the first time the series will air on cable. When Simpsons first sold into broadcast syndication in the early 1990s, TV stations demanded exclusivity from cable for the run of the series in part because they were hesitant about an animated show's ability to perform in a landscape heavy on live-action repeats. It's not entirely clear what has changed in those broadcast deals to allow the FXX pact to happen.</p><br /><strong>COVER STORY: 'The Simpsons' at 500: Untold Stories</strong><br /><p>FXNOW, FX Networks' forthcoming mobile application for authenticated subscribers, will be the exclusive non-linear home for all seasons of the animated comedy about Springfield's most dysfunctional family. FXX and FXNOW will get subsequent seasons of the series as new ones begin their first run on Fox. The cabler will have access to the current 25th run of the series starting in September 2014 -- when the already announced 26th season makes its debut on Fox.</p><br /><p>'We believe we'll get both reach and frequency from The Simpsons,' FX COO <strong>Chuck Saftler</strong> tells The Hollywood Reporter of the potential gains Simpsons repeats will bring his newly launched network. In fact, for FXX, which bowed in September, the deal comes as the comedy-heavy network with a focus on adults 18-34 continues to add programming. The Simpsons will join a roster of original programming that includes the fourth and final season of Wilfred as well as comedies It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League. (The network canceled little-watched late-night talk show Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell earlier this week.) He added: 'Frequency tends to come from acquired series, where if you're a fan of that show, you'll come back multiple times. It's a way to create sampling for original programming to other programming we'll have on FXX. I couldn't think of a deeper, richer, broader way to create awareness, sampling and breadth for FXX.'</p><br /><p>Details on how frequently FXX will air The Simpsons have not yet been announced, but Saftler says more information about how the show will be deployed on FXNOW will be unveiled during a Dec. 3 news conference in New York. 'Getting the non-linear rights is unprecedented. To be able to strategically offer The Simpsons both linearly and non-linearly helps us future-proof this deal, it helps us be able to acknowledge how viewers want programming today and to build our brand both linear and non-linearly,' he continues. 'It's an unprecedented right and the all-in on the deal was a very high price tag. We bought considerable rights and we basically created some new paradigms out of this.'</p><br /><strong>PHOTOS: Meet the Cast of 'The Simpsons'</strong><br /><p>The deal comes four months after news leaked that studio 20th Century Fox TV would be shopping the off-network syndication rights to The Simpsons. At the time, News Corp.-owned FX and FXX -- as well as Turner-owned TBS, Viacom's Comedy Central, TV Land, Nick at Nite and Spike were all expected to be among the suitors. The series was expected to fetch as much as $1.5 million per half-hour, generating an additional $1 billion or so to the show's already lucrative business -- which includes toys, video games, apparel and more. (At one point in 2011, News Corp.'s <strong>Chase Carey</strong> said the company was mulling an entire channel devoted to nothing but The Simpsons as it looked to create additional revenue streams for the show.)</p><br /><p>Financial terms of the FXX and FXNOW deal were not immediately available, though the network is billing the The Simpsons pact as the 'biggest off-network deal in TV history.' A per-episode rate on the deal may be more challenging to estimate considering the pact includes future seasons of the series on top of its non-linear rights.</p><br /><p>'There will never be another deal of this size because I don't think there will be another property that will achieve this many episodes,' warns Saftler, who negotiated the deal for FXX and FX Networks along with <strong>Chris Antola,</strong> senior vp strategic programming at FX Networks. 'When I started at FX 20 years ago, The Simpsons was on my hit list as a show that was targeted that would be perfect for FX. (Via @bobpockrass)</p><br /><p>The final Chase for the Sprint Cup championship press conference of 2013 played out like an off-brand kids' movie: pleasant, utterly predictable, with nary an unexpected turn anywhere. But that's what happens when your final weekend is edging away from 'race' and toward 'coronation.'</p><br /><p>Three years ago, Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick utterly mind-screwed Denny Hamlin. Two years ago, Tony Stewart played psychological ninja on Carl Edwards. Last year, Johnson tried to rattle Brad Keselowski. This year? Johnson holds a 28-point edge over Matt Kenseth, and as the challenger noted, only a miraculous misfire could keep Johnson from his sixth championship:</p><br /><p>'Obviously we're not going to make up the deficit on performance. I think Jimmie could run 28th through the grass or with three wheels on,' Kenseth laughed. 'He's going to have to have a mechanical problem or crash to make something happen. We'll have to be up in the top five to hold on to second or to overtake Jimmie if he has a problem.'</p><br /><p>'Realistically the only things we can control are what we do,' said Harvick, who's 34 points back. 'It's definitely a really, really long shot. But we'll control the things that are in our control and see how it all falls.'</p><br /><p>Kenseth and Harvick didn't even try to mess with Johnson's head. Why bother? It's not like either of them could get in there, and it's not like they could do much damage if they did. Johnson said all the right things, keeping distractions and locker-room quotes to a minimum. And he says hasn't even begun to think about that championship.</p><br /><p>'I'm just focused on getting in the car and doing all that I can on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, minimizing the stakes, all those types of things,' he said. 'I've really tried hard not to go down that road and think about those things. I think it would be a mistake.'</p><br /><p>There were a few surprises, none related to the competition itself. One came in the news that the reigning Sprint Cup champion would get a Hall of Fame vote, a nice nod to linking the present with the past.</p><br /><p>The drivers were all asked about the Chase itself, and while Johnson was pleased, Kenseth naturally wished for a little more latitude in the points department. Harvick gave an interesting answer, echoing many fans:</p><br /><p>'Things I don't like about it are the same racetracks year after year,' he said. 'I think it would help our schedule, it would help some of the racetracks, help build some excitement around some different racetracks. I think there needs to be a road course in it. I think there definitely needs to be some things mixed up in it.
