<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p><img src="http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/1966mlw50g76xjpg/ku-xlarge.jpg" width="600"/> </p><br /><p>Last month, Sony took the surprisingly unpopular decision to strip a lot of the media server functionality from the PS4 that made the PS3 such a useful box. Well, the backlash made an impression, with Sony now discussing 'how and when we can put these features on PS4'.</p><br /><p>In an interview with Giant Bomb (spotted by Polygon), PlayStation Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida says 'the biggest surprise for us all internally at Sony' was just how upset people got that the PS4 wouldn't be able to stream their own personal movies and music the way a PS3 can.</p><br /><p>'It's not like we actively decided 'Let's not do this feature so that people will subscribe to Music Unlimited,'' Yoshida said. 'Like we have been saying, the focus has been always on the game features. And some of the features we wanted but we couldn't get in on day one we are very disappointed and worried about not having on day one, and that have been the higher priorities.'</p><br /><p>'We didn't really think about MP3 or DLNA,' he adds. 'We always thought we're going to do that eventually. We've been doing it with all the products. The triptych depicts Bacon's artist friend.</p><br /><p>The work sold after '6 minutes of fierce bidding in the room and on the phone,' Christie's said in a statement. The price includes the buyer's premium. Christie's did not say who bought the painting.</p><br /><p>The price surpassed the nearly $120 million paid for Edvard Munch's 'The Scream,' which set a world record when it was sold at Sotheby's in a 2012 sale.</p><br /><p>The previous record for Bacon's artwork sold at auction was his 1976 'Triptych.' That sold for $86 million in 2008.</p><br /><p>Among other highlights scheduled to be auctioned at Christie's is a bright orange-yellow and white oil painting by Mark Rothko. Reminiscent of a radiating sunset, the 1957 large-scale 'Untitled (No. 11)' could fetch up to $35 million. In May 2012, Christie's sold Rothko's 'Orange, Red, Yellow' for $86.8 million, a record for any contemporary artwork at auction.</p><br /><p>Christie's also has an iconic Andy Warhol, 'Coca-Cola (3),' estimated to sell for $40 million to $60 million. The Warhol auction record is $71.7 million for 'Green Car Crash (Green Burning Car I),' sold in 2007.</p><br /><p>On Wednesday evening, Sotheby's is offering Warhol's 'Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster),' a provocative double-panel painting that could bring as much as $80 million.</p><br /><p>Warhol produced four paintings in the 'Death and Disaster' series. The other three are in museums.</p><br /><p>Measuring 8 feet by 13 feet, the 1963 silver work captures the immediate aftermath of a car crash, a twisted body sprawled across its mangled interior. It has been seen in public only once in the past 26 years.</p><br /><p>Other blue-chip offerings at Christie's on Tuesday include Jeff Koons' whimsical 'Balloon Dog (Orange),' a 10-foot-tall stainless steel sculpture resembling a twisted child's party balloon. It is expected to sell for up to $55 million. It is one of five balloon dogs Koons has created in different colors. All are in private hands. It is being sold by newsprint magnate Peter Brant to benefit his Brant Foundation Art Study in Greenwich, Conn.</p><br /><p>Also on tap is a masterpiece by German painter Gerhard Richter from the collection of Eric Clapton. Painted in gold and orange hues, the 1994 'Abstract Painting' is estimated to bring as much as $20 million. Microsoft patches fix IE Zero

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><img src="http://cdn.itproportal.com/photos/HEADER_contentfullwidth.jpg" width="600"/><br /><p>Microsoft announced eight bulletins for November's Patch Tuesday release , addressing 19 unique vulnerabilities in Microsoft software, including Internet Explorer, Hyper-V, the Graphics Device Interface (GDI), Office, and others. The zero-day vulnerability in Internet Explorer disclosed by FireEye over the weekend has also been fixed.</p><br /><p>Of the advisories, the three most critical patches are the Interent Explorer patch (MS13-088), GDI (MS13-089), and the zero-day flaw in ActiveX control which affected several versions of Internet Explorer (MS13-090), security experts said.</p><br /><p>'Bulletin MS13-090 addresses the publicly-known issue in ActiveX Control, currently under targeted attacks. Customers with automatic updates enabled are protected against this vulnerability and do not need to take any action,' said Dustin Childs, group manager of Microsoft Trustworthy Computing.</p><br /><p>Microsoft's security team has had a busy few days. Last week, security firm FireEye notified Microsoft of serious vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer, but it appears the team already knew about them as the ActiveX control patch (MS13-090) fixes the InformationCardSignInHelper flaw. Attackers have already targeted the bug in a watering-hole-style attack, and exploit code appeared on text-sharing site Pastebin this morning, making this a high-priority issue.</p><br /><p>Microsoft also disclosed a zero-day vulnerability in how some versions of Microsoft Windows and older versions of Microsoft Office handled the TIFF graphics format. There is no patch available addressing this flaw in this Patch Tuesday release, so users who have not yet installed the FixIt temporary workaround should consider doing so as soon as possible.</p><br /><p>'At-risk and high-value systems should have mitigations in place already,' said Ross Barrett, senior manager of security engineering at Rapid7.</p><br /><p>Another IE patch (MS13-088) fixed two information disclosure bugs and eight memory corruption issues in various versions of the web browser. Two of the vulnerabilities affect every version of IE, from versions 6 through 11, the latest version. While attacks exploiting these vulnerabilities have not yet been reported, the fact that so many versions of Windows and Internet Explorer are affected means this patch should be rolled out as soon as possible.</p><br /><p>Attackers could exploit these flaws by creating a malicious web page and convincing users to view the page to trigger a drive-by-download attack, Maiffret said.</p><br /><p>The third highest priority bulletin (MS13-089) fixes a GDI bug, which affects every supported version of Windows from XP to Windows 8.1. Since attackers need to create a malicious file and convince users to open it in WordPad to exploit this vulnerability, this is not a simple browse-and-get-owned scenario, warned Maiffret. However, it is 'still potent, due to the fact that it affects every version of supported Windows,' he said.</p><br /><p>The attacker would receive the same level of privilege as the running application that was using the GDI interface.</p><br /><p>Several experts called this month's Patch Tuesday 'straightfoward' because the fixes focused on Windows, Internet Explorer and some Office components. There were 'nothing esoteric or difficult to patch,' such as SharePoint plugins or the .NET framework, said Barrett. The remaining patches addressed vulnerabilities in various versions of Microsoft Office (MS13-091), an information disclosure vulnerability in newer versions of Office (MS13-094), an elevation of privilege flaw in Hyper-V (MS13-092) in Windows 8 and Server 2012 R2, an information disclosure bug in Windows (MS13-093), and a denial of service (MS13-095) issue in the operating system.</p><br /><p>'Overall, while it is only a medium-sized Patch Tuesday, pay special attention to the two 0-days and the Internet Explorer update. Browsers continue to be the favorite target for attackers and Internet Explorer, with its leading market share, is one of the most visible and likely targets,' said Wolfgang Kandek, CTO of Qualys.</p><br /></div>

Foyle (Toby Kebbell) is back in the dock, this time accused of the murder of Will’s wife Kate. But Will can only sit and watch with growing horror as his main court rival Maggie Gardner (Sophie Okonedo) makes this her moment to shine. He sees his own legal tricks and refutations played out before him and feels the same pain and dismay as the loved ones of victims whose killers his blind passion to win had turned loose in his past. It’s perhaps not that credible that a highly professional Oxford-educated individual might choose the solution that Will does, but in a very little time he has indulged in some dalliance with known criminals before retreating to the coast to drink, stab limpets with a penknife and to plot his own justice for Foyle.  </span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br /></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">For those expecting a frenzied last minute showdown between the killer and the wronged man, Foyle’s demise comes relatively early in proceedings. The outcome definitely requires some suspension of disbelief on the part of the viewer: not only for Foyle to have a convenient rare allergy, but also for the other elements required for Will’s plan to work to fall so neatly into place: the remote cottage, the shifty criminal contacts, the source of the allergen, the source of another epi-pen… However, two things redeem all of the unlikely circumstances. The first is the writing. Yes, the plot is arguably implausible and overblown in places, but no-one can deny that it is also clever and inventive. How many viewers saw those twists coming? Just as notable are the consistently high-class performances from the entire cast. Toby Kebbell is deliciously creepy as twice-freed murderer Foyle, Sophie Okonedo convinces as the wavering Maggie and Stephen Wight definitely deserves mention as the loyal Danny Monk. But David Tennant’s performance raises the series from what could easily be overblown melodrama to something quite sublime. From his boggling, breathless terror as he occupies a pub toilet mere feet from his quarry, to the raw emotion of his eulogy to his late wife, to his poker face as he listens to Maggie unravelling the means by which he dispatched Foyle, he doesn’t falter. But aside from that it’s the unsettling thought that what we believe to be justice is nothing of the sort if the act of winning is held more highly than the actual punishment of guilt. However, the alternative, demonstrated here, is more horrific. As we leave Will we do so with the echo of Foyle's words to him during their first meeting: “You know, it’s funny. Southern California home prices flat in October

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p><img src="http://www.trbimg.com/img-52826308/turbine/lat-la-fi-mo-home-prices-20131111-la0011788250-20131010/600" width="600"/> </p><br /><p>Southern California home prices remained essentially flat in October from the previous month as buyers appeared to hit a wall amid a job market that remains far from robust.</p><br /><p>Sales rose 5.4% from September, when they plunged more than usual, but were down 4.4% compared with October 2012.</p><br /><p>The median sale price in the region was $383,750 last month, 21.8% higher than October 2012 though basically unchanged for the fourth consecutive month, real estate research firm DataQuick said Tuesday.</p><br /><p><strong>QUIZ: How well do you understand the Fed stimulus?</strong>'Our read on the market is that after playing some rapid catch-up, home prices hit a bit of a midsummer wall,' DataQuick President John Walsh said in a statement.</p><br /><p>Home prices rose rapidly earlier this year as investors and families battled over a shortage of homes for sale, finally convinced the bottom had passed. But since the spring, demand has waned while listings expanded. Investors have pulled back and some families have been priced out or put off their search with their children back in school.</p><br /><p>A total of 20,150 existing and newly built houses and condos sold in Southern California in October.</p><br /><p>What effect, if any, the partial 16-day government shutdown that began Oct. 1 had on sales is unclear. DataQuick's numbers represent closed sales, meaning mostly homes that had gone into escrow in September, but also early October and late August, the firm said.</p><br /><p>Sales fell over the year in all counties: Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura and San Diego. While sales for all houses declined, new sales jumped dramatically in some counties.</p><br /><p>In Orange County, new home sales shot up 54.5%. In Riverside, new home sales rose 20.7%.</p><br /><p>The share of absentee buyers - mostly investors - continued to decline as higher prices made such investments less attractive.
