One Day at a Time

It really has to be that logic at this point... "one day at a time".  The opportunities to fail or succeed in eating/drinking situations are never ending these days.  <br /><br />Last week it was our office holiday party.<br /><br />This week it was both a luncheon (with pizza from my favorite pizza place) and a happy hour for my coworker who is leaving our office for another division in our agency (please don't throw stones - I'm a government employee! eek!).  Miraculously, I made it through the luncheon without even so much as glancing at that pizza.  I sat and talked and talked the entire time and tried to ignore my rumbling belly.   Instead I opted for my own packed lunch, which I ate after his luncheon. <br /><br />Then I hosted this happy hour for him, but I didn't even want to go because I knew it would involve beer and possibly bar food.  I just didn't want to set myself up for failure, because at this point, I know I'm just not strong enough to resist such temptations, at least not two in one day!  So 2 large beers were consumed, and so were boneless wings.    <br /><br />The thing is, I really enjoy being social.  I particularly enjoy happy hours.  I'm not a drunkard, I just enjoy having a few beers and relaxing with friends.  How do you go to a bar and not have a drink?  Ok, it's possible, I'm sure.  Not for me, but for others with far more self control, sure.  But let me rephrase that.  How do you go to a bar and only have <i>one </i>drink?<br /><br />I think I failed to mention that I attended a holiday party this past Friday.  I only had 3 beers. They happened to be Bud Lights.  Do you know that 1 Bud Light (can or bottle) is 4 Points+?  And 3 of them are 11 Points+!!!!  Stupid. Stupid.
