Despite the hallucinations, he was calm and clear. He told the doctor that he thought the visions began after he recently started taking a new sleeping pill. That made sense to the doctor. Delirium is an unusual but known side effect of that drug. The rehab-center records showed some details of his recovery from the serious injury. It also included a long list of the medications he was taking and reported that he had been confused for the past four days. On examination, the patient had a fever. His heart was racing, and his blood pressure was high. His arms and legs were weak and swollen. Roundabout Ranelagh

<p>It's a very pleasant day so I just took the dog for a walk to <a href="http://www.thegatheringireland.com/I-Love-Ireland/I-Love-Ireland-Blog/January-2013/Richard-Crosbie-the-first-Irishman-to-fly">Ranelagh Gardens</a> which is a close by park. I took a picture of two buildings of interest on my walk home.  Ranelagh Gardens is the site of the first balloon ride in Ireland in 1783.</p><p>The house with the green door is the Indian Embassy on Leeson Park Avenue. The other house is called St. Helens. Sadly, like many colleges, this serves more as a dampener than a revenue generator. I think a more creative copyright where students own their work, but schools have permission to use and reuse for school purposes makes more sense. I agree with TechDirt that this is a problem that we should begin speaking out about. Read and educate yourself, however, TechDirt needs to realize that most work for hire documents claim IP rights.  "We recently wrote about how the school board for Prince George County, Maryland, was considering a policy that would claim the copyright of everything produced by both students and faculty at the various schools in the district. That seemed extreme in so many ways. Some folks have set up a site called Don't Copyright Me, in which they're asking people to sign a petition to be sent to the school board, telling them not to take the copyrights from students and teachers. While this may seem like a small deal because it involves a single school district, the larger concern is that it actually becomes a bigger deal in the long term, as other school districts may follow suit: Copyright is getting out of control. Prince George's County is one of the top 25 school systems in the country. If this policy goes into effect, it could set a terrible precedent at a time when quality education is needed more than ever. Students and teachers deserve the same rights as everyone else. When I review for tests, I always like to use a backchannel because I can ask questions and we can document answers and the students can save as notes. This is a great tool. Their geographical subjects are not always obvious, such as their <a href="http://archidose.org/wp/2012/04/23/architectural-and-cultural-guide-pyongyang-and-architecture-11/">two-volume guide</a> to Pyongyang, North Korea. These two recent guides to Japan and Taiwan extend the publisher's interest in Asia. Japan is an obvious choice, given the high quality and popularity of architects in the country and the large number of cultural institutions that have built stunning buildings well outside of Tokyo. Taiwan is a more questionable choice, but as we'll see the guide is as much about the future of the country as is it about its past. Each guide documents contemporary buildings well, but they are not limited to 21st century buildings; they reach back as far as the early 20th century up to the present.<br /><br /><img alt="28-28_DOM1.jpg" src="http://www.archidose.org/Blog/28-28_DOM1.jpg" title="Japan guide spread" /><br />[Japan guide spread]<br /><br />One of the best things about DOM's architectural guide to Japan is that Botond Bognar is the author. He is a preeminent scholar of Japanese architecture, having written other guides and numerous monographs and other books on Japanese architects. A lengthy essay on the "course of contemporary Japanese architecture" is a valuable introduction to a sweeping guide that covers the country from tip to tip, from Hokkaido to Okinawa. Over 700 buildings are included in his guide, though not all of them are illustrated, and those that aren't are given fairly short descriptions. The norm is like the spread above, with generous text and photographs; the former tend to be formal descriptions, though they are much deeper at times, and the latter are sometimes accompanied by drawings for greater understanding.<br /><br />Also evident in the above spread are QVR codes that allow iPhone users to locate the buildings on Google Maps. In this sense the book bridges the print and digital realms, though I'm guessing that future guides will have increasingly greater content included in the scanned content, and likewise less content in print. Right now the codes exist to give readers a chance to get directions from one address to the location of the building, meaning that the maps in the book can be more general, orienting the buildings in the city but less concerned with their precisely detailed locations.<br /><br /><img alt="28-28_DOM2.jpg" src="http://www.archidose.org/Blog/28-28_DOM2.jpg" title="Taiwan guide spread" /><br />[Taiwan guide spread]<br /><br />The same QVR codes are found in the earlier Taiwan guide by Ulf Meyer (the author of two other DOM architectural guides—Helsinki and Tokyo). With the same publisher it's no surprise that there is this sort of consistency, something that extends to the page layout, evidenced by comparing the above two spreads. As mentioned at the beginning, one of the main differences between the two guides is the way the Taiwan guide includes a lot of future projects. These include OMA's <a href="http://oma.eu/projects/2009/taipei-performing-arts-centre">Taipei Performing Arts Centre</a>, Reiser + Umemoto's <a href="http://www.designboom.com/architecture/reiser-umemoto-taipei-pop-music-center/">Taipei Pop Music Centre</a>, and Toyo Ito's <a href="http://www.designboom.com/architecture/toyo-ito-taichung-metropolitan-opera/">Taichung Metropolitan Opera House</a>, the most notable among many others. TeachMeet season has started in South Africa

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br /><div class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In the past year, worldwide, a different kind of professional development movement has started and become very widespread. This type of professional development is called an EdCamp (mostly found in the US) or a TeachMeet, a UK term. In South Africa we have adopted the UK term and have been pleased to see the growth of TeachMeets. These are generally a type of collaborative conferences lasting but a few hours, better known as an 'unconferences' since the attendees are the presenters and the focus is on the needs and wants of those attending.  I like the way one TeachMeet advertised itself - "connecting educators to their most valuable resource - each other!"<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><div class="MsoNoSpacing"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Our TeachMeet season has started. SchoolNet started a wiki in 2011 called <a href="http://teachmeet-southafrica.wikispaces.com/" target="_blank">Teachmeet-South Africa</a>, to keep a record of TeachMeets around South Africa.
