Off to the post office....

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-size: large;">Yesterday when I returned from work I found a note from the postman saying that he had missed me and to call to the post office in Rathmines to collect a delivery.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-size: large;">Expecting a letter I set off on my bike for the post office this morning.  I had to laugh when I saw the postman bring a very large box to the counter.  When I laughingly told him I was on my bike he said I could come back later but I said it was ok that I would manage.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-size: large;">I also said that I wasn't expecting any large packages and I wondered what it was.  He looked at it and said it was from Pennsylvania.  "Ah", I said, "I know who that is from".  He then looked at it again and said "Well don't look here if you don't want to discover what it is until you open it".  Lol.  I didn't look!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><span style="font-size: large;">When I got out to the bike yard I attempted to put the box in my panniers.  No joy!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEsEyeVyeaFrilw8XoyYrk7-lESqE14SHVn0QRjKbxwrUCkBJurFPofBVKUg4-tOUSeWzGmECHjaH502LtOGAZIStOOcbSm5jQBQJUscmFDxgSuA0fx8pbPZ3bklUFaMHz95k5x6NbnO7E/s640/blogger-image--382629149.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; "There's something very powerful about being able to celebrate the world outdoors, in such a beautiful place as Elizabeth Park."</div><div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">Pincus said he was inspired by a colleague, Elissa Sachs-Kohen, who began an annual outdoor Rosh Hashanah service in Baltimore a half-dozen years ago. Sachs-Kohen used to be an assistant rabbi at Beth Israel. The Baltimore service, called "Rosh Hashanah Under the Stars," now draws thousands of people, Pincus said.</div><div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">He has more modest expectations for Elizabeth Park: "If I get 100 people, I'd be happy."</div><div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">The hour-long service will include guitars and drums. "We're tying to make it a little more modern," Pincus said. "And we'll be blowing the shofar [ram's horn] at the service, which is not customary for the eve of Rosh Hashanah." But he didn't want people who go to this Rosh Hashanah service, and no other, to miss out on this ceremonial call announcing the new year.</div><div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: 10px; padding: 0px;">The service Wednesday will be casual, Pincus said, and people attending should bring their own chairs and blankets.
