Virginia Beach Recap

Sadly, we are back from VA beach.  We drove back Saturday afternoon, and what should have been a 3.5 hour trip ended up taking us 6 hours!  It poured down rain the entire drive home and <i>that</i> is why it took us so long to get back to northern VA.  There was even a tornado warning as we were leaving the Virginia Beach area - scary!  I've never been in a situation where a tornado has been spotted while driving. <br /><br />It was raining so hard that we had to take a diversion to the local Target just to take a break (and seek shelter - as the NWS was warning us to do.)<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbXzV-lnk9ZDleeHjSXIruCKGEBx84YD8OKv6440ZzvV36vpGmtctPnfFPcXH4oMZ79aZvM8BwdExysVqUARqt4Dvwr4rXFo27AdDR5geMB1frctxKSj1sEkyjjo27sTN278d2leGws7o/s1600/Beach+Busbee.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="175" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbXzV-lnk9ZDleeHjSXIruCKGEBx84YD8OKv6440ZzvV36vpGmtctPnfFPcXH4oMZ79aZvM8BwdExysVqUARqt4Dvwr4rXFo27AdDR5geMB1frctxKSj1sEkyjjo27sTN278d2leGws7o/s400/Beach+Busbee.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><br />The weather, unfortunately, was not ideal on this trip.  It was in the high 70s/low 80s the entire time with a strong breeze along the ocean.  I was actually covered up with my towel most of the time it was so chilly.  The surf was so rough they issued rip current warnings.  I still managed to get some sun, however, so I'll take that as a plus :).  I love trying to maintain a tan for the summer. <br /><br />On Friday morning, after Joel came back from surf fishing, we headed out to rent some beach cruisers (bicycles) to ride along the amazing boardwalk.  I have to admit, as much as I love OC, they have nothing on VA Beach's boardwalk.  VAB's is cemented with a separate, paved path running parallel to the boardwalk that is just for biking.  This way, you can bike all day long!  OC's boardwalk is wooden, splinter ridden and only allows biking at certain hours.  We biked for 45 minutes and had a great time.  Joel relived his childhood by popping wheelies and thus, popping the chain off of his bike :). <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOU-nWpxtIAhEAQMS8fRO-HEzbS0J4-RPDQ1z6d04wX9N70mD5ues274dy1p5Ru-yJP-Bj4HyrHMepjizJ5QjwdG8Ze3BxF1yVOM-x09JAYxxz3ZAyGr7U7NkTkuIM9S_XaDmlJ2uyQpU/s1600/beach+feet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="247" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOU-nWpxtIAhEAQMS8fRO-HEzbS0J4-RPDQ1z6d04wX9N70mD5ues274dy1p5Ru-yJP-Bj4HyrHMepjizJ5QjwdG8Ze3BxF1yVOM-x09JAYxxz3ZAyGr7U7NkTkuIM9S_XaDmlJ2uyQpU/s400/beach+feet.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><br />On Friday, we enjoyed a "homemade" lunch in our hotel room.  I had a turkey/hard salami sandwich on Sara Lee Delightfuls bread with pepperjack cheese and a swipe of pesto.  Later I snacked on Rold Gold Pretzels.  I'm very happy we packed our own lunch for the trip.  Not only did it save us money, but it saved me on Points!<br /><br /><strong><span style="color: #674ea7;">Do you have a last minute beach trip planned before summer is over?</span></strong>  <br /><br />It's hard to believe we're approaching fall.  It seems like just yesterday that we were planning our wedding to the Carribbean..... *sigh*...

You would use either one or the other. Educators enhance their teaching strategies, gain new skills, and collaborate with like-minded educators and youth media experts to enable young people to express themselves using digital tools and to create media with a personally meaningful purpose. Educators from participating sites join a global network and exhibit and share youth-created media projects, including videos, documentaries, photojournalism, animations, websites, and multimedia. iEARN joined the Adobe Youth Voices program as a founding partner in 2006, and now manages and supports the program in over 16 countries around the world. SchoolNet South Africa coordinates this programme and has received sponsorships for twelve teachers to participate in the 2012- 2013 year. In 2011 ISRAELI-CHINESE bilateral trade exceeded $8 billion, roughly 20 percent higher than in 2010. <br /><br />What could cloud this otherwise sunny picture?<br /><br />IRAN.<br /><br />CHINA relies on IRAN for roughly 10 percent of its oil supply and has repeatedly rejected intensifying UN sanctions against IRAN for its nuclear activities, an effort led by the U.S. and ISRAEL, which suspect that Iran’s nuclear energy program in facts mask a secret military effort to acquire nuclear weapons.<br /><br />According to IRAN’S Ambassador to Beijing Mehdi Safari, in 2011 CHINESE-IRANIAN<a href="http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9010172485"> trade increased</a>55 percent to more than $45 billion a $16 billion increase over 2010 trade. " If we are paying people money so they can feed their family and AREN'T then we should pay again to feed them at school? How can you hold parents accountable for feeding their children? This speaks to the very core of many of our problems in the US - misplaced priorities. Homes have xboxes but no food? Nice shoes and empty tummies? This is upsetting on so many levels. Of course, these statements don't fit all people as they are generalities, however, making sure children are fed is an imperative. It makes me nervous, however, that the government is having to step in and feed children who aren't being fed at home because if they aren't being fed, there are much bigger problems than just a lack of food. As a person who had a time when we were completely broken by a farm gone underwater - I know what it is like to find quarters to buy milk - so this is heartbreaking. People need jobs and kids need food. It is also unfair to penalize teachers whose kids aren't learning if the kids are hungry. It includes stickers that will tag the pages for you and add emphasis and included in the price of the notebook ($30) is a free subscription to Evernote premium for 3 months. I love evernote and while their tech support leaves a lot to be desired (it took me 6 months to figure out how to fix an installation glitch which was answered by another user on their forum after Evernote kept telling me just to use Revo uninstaller) -- it can't be beat for usefulness - that is why it is one of the few apps I am willing to pay for. I'll definitely be asking for this notebook for Christmas to try it out.
