What's more is Best Buy is urgently removing the HP Chromebook 11 from its stores, according to The Verge.</p><br /><p>Store managers have been ordered through an internal memo to stop selling the $279 laptop 'immediately' and to remove any stock from its shelves, unnamed Best Buy sources told The Verge. It's not clear why either retailer is no longer selling the HP Chromebook 11.</p><br /><p>HP and Google introduced the laptop in October and forged a partnership with Best Buy and Amazon to sell it in the US. While Best Buy has removed the listing from its online store completely, Amazon has only stopped selling it directly. Lady Gaga talks Madonna, Perez feud

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p><img src="http://media.nzherald.co.nz/webcontent/image/jpg/201346/AP131211145830_620x310.jpg" width="600"/> </p><br /><p>Sticks and stones ...</p><br /><p><strong>Lady Gaga</strong> has opened up about her ongoing 'feud' with pop matriarch <strong>Madonna</strong>, and explained why her friendship with former BFF <strong>Perez Hilton</strong> hit the skids.</p><br /><p>During a confab with <strong>Howard Stern</strong> on his radio show this week, Mother Monster dished a few nuggets about the well-documented discord between her and Madge.</p><br /><p>Swift recap: When Gaga released her single <i>Born This Way</i> back in 2011, it kicked off a bit of a stink. The song, critics charged, sounded stunningly similar to Madonna's 1989 hit <i>Express Yourself</i>.</p><br /><p>Madge later fanned the flames after she performed a mashup of <i>Born This Way</i> and <i>Express Yourself</i> during her <i>MDNA</i> tour last year.</p><br /><p>Gaga shared her thoughts on Madge's decision to cover her music during a recent interview with <i>Attitude</i> magazine.</p><br /><p>'I have to be really honest, I was completely kind of floored that Madonna was singing my song on her stage every night!' she told the mag.</p><br /><p>'I mean, Madonna's ... she's Madonna. I looked up to her for a long time. I'm not quite sure what her intention was - to do that in the show, but I don't really care,' she said.</p><br /><p>'I think playing into the gossip of the tabloids and, I guess the fodder of the competition, that's just not what I'm about. She chooses to use her voice the way she chooses to use hers and I choose to use mine the way I use mine.'</p><br /><strong>'...ONE DAY I WOULD PISS OFF MADONNA!'</strong><br /><p>Rather than packing a sad about Madge's apparent diss, Gaga said she was happy to ruffle the singer's feathers.</p><br /><p>'All it meant to me was that Madonna Ciccone was singing my song on her stage and I'm 27! And as a punk-rocker from New York, I've basically been hoping that I would become so good that one day I would piss off Madonna!' she said.</p><br /><p>During a lengthy sit-down with Stern on Tuesday, the 27-year-old singer didn't hold back when probed by the host about her Madonna beef.</p><br /><p>'There's not so many ways you can interpret it,' chimed Gaga when Stern suggested jealousy was behind Madge taking thinly veiled potshots at her.</p><br /><p>'To me honestly I think she's more aggravated that I'm not upset that she doesn't like me. Because I don't care that she doesn't like me. No, I don't care,' she shared.</p><br /><p>On the subject of her public falling out with gossip blogger Hilton, the <i>ARTPOP</i> singer went on to say the proverbial hit the fan back in 2011.</p><br /><p>'I don't really care anymore. It's so ridiculous at this point. It's such nonsense,' she said of her spat with Hilton, who was once one of Gaga's most vocal cheerleaders.</p><br /><p>'The whole thing is really rooted in Madonna, that's the sort of centre of it and nobody's really said that or admitted to it,' Gaga explained.</p><br /><p>'It's silly. There's always this pissing match, 'Did she take her torch?' [and] 'Is she the new her?' 'Is she going to outlast her?' ... There's this thing with some people that I'm a threat to the throne,' she said.</p><br /><p>'And I don't want your f***ing throne, no thanks. And I have my own and I don't actually want a throne at all, because I don't view myself as a queen. I view myself as one of my fans, and that's it.'</p><br /><p>Gaga then explained why her long-time friendship with Hilton ended.</p><br /><p>'What happened was we were doing an interview...and in the middle of the interview he started asking me really terrible questions,' Gaga told to Stern.</p><br /><p>'He was being very negative about <i>Born This Way</i> and we had had a lot to drink. He was supposed to be my friend and I felt betrayed, so I started crying. My friend had to come in and pull the camera out, they wouldn't turn the cameras off.'</p><br /><p>She continued, 'He apologised, but I sort of felt like it was like, 'But I'm Perez Hilton so I'm allowed to treat you this way.' I looked at him and said, 'Just because you are who you are, does not mean that our friendship doesn't mean anything when the cameras turn on. So, now I see who you really are.' And I was done after that.</p><br /><p>'And he's just mad that I don't want to hang out anymore. I don't want to be around fake people. I really believed, when I first met him, that he wanted to change. I really believed that he wanted to bully people less on his site and that he wanted to move into a more positive space. I was really there for him and I really supported him.'</p><br /><strong>'IF YOU HATE ME, HATE ME FROM OVER THERE'</strong><br /><p>Gaga accused Hilton of harassing her during a Twitter spat back in August, after fans alerted her to Hilton's presence at her New York apartment block.</p><br /><p>According to sources at the time, Hilton was apartment shopping in Manhattan and, 'unbeknownst to him', one of the units he inspected was located in Gaga's apartment building.</p><br /><p>'I freaked out so much about it because I have no rights,' she said. 'My sister [Natali] was sleeping there and it made me scared and upset. And then he lied and told everybody that he wasn't stalking me, but that next day - after I asked him to leave me alone - he put an offer in on two apartments in the building!' Gaga told the radio host.</p><br /><p>'Why do you need to live in my apartment? There's only one reason: to try to hurt me, or harass me, or blow yourself up,' she said. 'If you hate me, hate me from over there. Continue to fire away on your blog and your Twitter.'</p><br /><p>And, sure enough, Hilton fired up his laptop and took to Twitter the moment he caught wind of Gaga's interview with Stern.</p><br /><p>'@LadyGaga So you called ME fake on the @HowardStern this morning. Ha! Thanks for the laugh! Have you looked in the mirror lately??? xoxo,' he wrote.</p><br /><p>'@LadyGaGa And I was the one who pulled away from u after I realised what a real-life vampire you are! After a pause it quickly climbed to 67 million francs ($73.2 million), shattering its $60 million high estimate. Nervous laughter could be heard on Sotheby's live feed as the bidding slowed pushed up to the winning bid 68 million Swiss francs. Commissions and fees pushed the final total to more than 76.3 million Swiss francs ($83.4 million).</p><br /><p>The diamond is graded as Type IIa, which rare for any pink diamond, much less one of this size and color. Cut over a period of two years, The Pink Star is more than twice the size of the Graff Pink-a 24.78-carat fancy intense pink diamond that established a world auction record for a diamond and any gemstone or jewel at $46.2 million, at Sotheby's Geneva in 2010. The current record price per carat for a fancy vivid pink diamond of $2,155,332 is set by a 5-carat diamond, sold in Hong Kong in January 2009. The current record price for any colored diamond sold at auction is $2,398,151 per carat, for 'the Orange,' a 14.82-carat fancy vivid orange diamond that sold a day earlier at Christie's Geneva Magnificent Jewels auction. The per carat price for the The Pink Star has yet to be released and will be updated.</p><br /><p>Cut by Steinmetz Diamonds over a period of nearly two years from a 132.5-carat rough, the diamond was first unveiled to the public in May 2003 as the 'Steinmetz Pink.' They are not expected to bring back fellow utility player Jerry Hairston Jr.</p><br /><p>Punto brought a lively but veteran experience to the Dodgers clubhouse. Yahoo to auction off more than 100 long

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><p>Yahoo will soon be auctioning off a number of prominent domain names they own but never used through auction house Sedo. Given Marissa Mayer's push to hone in on core services and experiences this past year, it's a wonder it took so long for the domains to be put on the market.</p><br /><p>At some point over the past 19 years, Yahoo acquired a wealth of domain names that ultimately went unused. According to a blog post on the subject, these domains were forgotten about until someone stumbled across the list not too long ago.</p><br /><p><img src="http://static.techspot.com/images2/news/bigimage/2013-11-13-image-8.jpg" width="600"/> </p><br /><p>The only obvious thing to do with them, it would seem, was to set them free back into the wild of the Internet. As the saying goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure. Surely there are some creative people, businesses and entrepreneurs that could use some of the domains.</p><br /><p>Starting tomorrow, more than a hundred domains like sandwich.com, crackers.com, av.com, jockeys.com, sled.com and blogsport.com will go up for auction during a week-long event. There are some odd-ball domains in the mix as well including laun.com, fonzo.com and batoota.com. Some of the less desirable domains are priced in the $1,000 to $4,999 range while higher tier properties will require a bid of at least $1 million to get started.</p><br /><p>If you don't see anything of interest just yet, don't fret. Yahoo said they will be adding more domain names as the week goes on meaning there could still be a few hidden gems waiting to be sold to the highest bidder.</p><br /></div>

Dwell Vision Award

Congratulations to <a href="http://sloarchitecture.com/">SLO Architecture</a> on winning the inaugural <a href="http://www.dwell.com/latest/article/dwell-media-announces-winner-dwell-vision-award-slo-architecture">Dwell Vision Award</a> for their <a href="http://slo-architecture.tumblr.com/">Harvest Dome 2.0</a>. The project—a pavilion floating on the Bronx River that is made from old umbrellas and plastic bottles—is about as far removed from the modern residences that usually line the pages of <i>Dwell</i>, but as the magazine's president and publisher Michela O’Connor Abrams said in the announcement at <a href="http://janescarousel.com/">Jane's Carousel</a> in Brooklyn last week, the prize is about innovation that is technically and artistically groundbreaking. Several dozen Walmart workers walked off the job Thursday and Friday, the <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/08/walmart-arrests_n_4227411.html?view=print&comm_ref=false" rel="nofollow">Huffington Post</a> reported:<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">Surrounded by about 100 police officers in riot gear and a helicopter circling above, more than 50 Walmart workers and supporters were arrested in downtown Los Angeles Thursday night as they sat in the street protesting what they called the retailer's "poverty wages." </blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">...The 54 arrestees, with about 500 protesting Walmart workers, clergy and supporters, demonstrated outside LA's Chinatown Walmart. Those who refused police orders to clear the street after their permit expired were arrested without incident. Those who fail to post $5,000 bail would be jailed overnight, Detective Gus Villanueva, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman, told The Huffington Post... </blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">Their primary demand to Walmart: pay every full-time worker at least $25,000 a year.<br />One of the protesting Walmart workers, Anthony Goytia, a 31-year-old father of two, said he believes he will make about $12,000 this year. It's a daily struggle, he said, "to make sure my family doesn't go hungry." </blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">"The power went out at my house yesterday because I couldn't afford the bill," Goytia told HuffPost. "I had to run around and get two payday loans to pay for my rent from the first" of the month. Stink Tanks exposed as front groups for Koch brothers

A national network of <a href="http://stinktanks.org/national/" rel="nofollow"><strike>stink</strike></a> think tanks is quietly pushing the agenda of anti-worker groups with funding from Koch brothers-affiliated organizations, according to a report released today.<br /><br />Today our friends at the <a href="http://www.prwatch.org/" rel="nofollow">Center for Media and Democracy</a> exposed the State Policy Network, which claims to fund 'independent' think tanks in all 50 states. The State Policy Network, disturbingly, is tax-exempt and so are the stink tanks it funds. <br /><br />SPN's stink tanks use 'dark money' from the <strike style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16.890625px;"><a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2011/10/bombshell-kochs-sold-oil-equipment-to.html" style="color: #336699;">Benedict Arnold</a></strike> Koch brothers and their ilk to push an anti-worker, anti-consumer corporate-empowerment agenda in the states -- while pretending to be nonpartisan. <br /><br />If this is sounding a lot like the corporate dating service for state lawmakers known as <a href="http://alecexposed.org/" rel="nofollow">ALEC</a>, it is. Lisa Graves, executive director of the CMD, told Politico the SPN, like ALEC, is part of the <a href="http://www.politico.com/story/2013/11/koch-brothers-think-tank-report-99791.html" rel="nofollow">Kochtopus</a>.<br /><br />According to CMD:<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">SPN has played a major role in supporting ALEC, serving as a "chairman" level sponsor of the 2013 and 2011 ALEC Annual Conferences and acting as a voting member of several task forces. SPN affiliates push parts of ALEC's agenda in their respective states, and ALEC is also an associate member of SPN. SPN and its affiliates have contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to ALEC. </blockquote><div class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></div>Politico quoted Graves today:<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">“These aren’t just little think tanks that are doing nonpartisan research based on what’s happening in the state and really reflective of the culture of those states,” said Lisa Graves....“These are a lot of groups that put together pretty cooked books on the issues they are peddling and have been criticized in state after state for how shoddy their research has been.” </blockquote>In a <a href="http://www.prwatch.org/news/2013/11/12302/reports-expose-extreme-pressure-groups-masquerading-think-tanks" rel="nofollow">press statement</a>, Graves said,<br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">The 'experts' of State Policy Network groups get quoted on TV, in the papers, or in the legislature as if they were nonpartisan, objective scholars on issues of public policy. But in reality, SPN is a front for corporate interests with an extreme national policy agenda tied to some of the most retrograde special interests in the country, including the billionaire Koch brothers, the Waltons, the Bradley Foundation, the Roe Foundation, and the Coors family.</blockquote><br />Teamsters have tangled with these groups before. In Wisconsin, the <a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2011/04/meet-think-tanks-paid-to-wage-war-on.html" rel="nofollow">MacIver Institute</a> promoted<a href="http://cognidissidence.blogspot.com/2013/03/scott-walkers-austerity-agenda-is-real.html" rel="nofollow"> <strike>job-killer</strike></a><strike style="text-decoration: underline;"> </strike> Gov. Scott Walker's union-busting Act 10 as good for the economy. <a href="http://www.jsonline.com/business/wisconsin-added-24305-private-sector-jobs-in-12-months-ended-in-march-b99106575z1-225348792.html" rel="nofollow">It wasn't</a>.<br /><br />In Michigan, the <a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2013/01/koch-linked-mich-think-tank-accused-of.html" rel="nofollow">Mackinac Center for Public Policy</a> pushed job-killer <a href="http://www.snyderfails.org/" rel="nofollow">Gov. Rick Snyder</a>'s right to work for less law with the same arguments and the same results. In Missouri, it's the <a href="http://stinktanks.org/missouri/" rel="nofollow">Show-Me Institute</a>. In Ohio, the <a href="http://stinktanks.org/ohio/" rel="nofollow">Buckeye Institute</a>. REUTERS/Mark …</div> </div> <p>“Over the last six months and especially the last few weeks we have grown increasingly concerned by the seemingly endless cycle of allegations, denials and belated admissions about your behavior,” City Councillor Jaye Robinson read from a nonbinding petition signed by 30 of the city’s 44 councilors, and passed by a vote of 41 to two.</p> <p>That petition is separate from a motion, that has yet to be voted on, that asks Ford to take a leave of absence and apologize for “misleading” Toronto residents. Council has no power to force the mayor to step down or take a break unless he is convicted of a crime.</p> <p>“Our city’s reputation has been damaged and continues to suffer,” Robinson said. “Together we stand to ask you to step aside and take a leave of absence to address your challenges privately outside of the public eye.”</p> <p>The scandal, reminiscent of the one which enveloped former Washington, D.C., mayor Marion Barry after he was filmed smoking crack in 1990, has made Ford the target of late night-talk show jokes and drawn international media interest to Toronto.</p> <p>Six months ago, the Toronto Star newspaper and media blog Gawker said they had seen a video of the mayor smoking the drug, and Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair has since confirmed the video exists.</p> <p>Last week, the Star bought a separate video that showed Ford in an expletive-laden rant, making unspecified threats and pounding his hands together.
