Frankly, I was expecting a somewhat higher number mainly because <a href="http://aistats.blogspot.com/2012/10/christmas-with-scotty-mccreery-set-to.html" target="_blank">almost exactly one year ago</a> the estimated sales for his "Christmas With Scotty McCreery" was 35K to 40K (it ended up selling 41K that first week.) I was guessing this much stronger album of more radio friendly country music would sell substantially more than his Christmas collection (by more than just 5K more). That 40K-45K estimate is <a href="http://aistats.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-voice-winner-cassadee-popes-first.html" target="_blank">exactly the same estimate</a> HDD gave for Cassadee Pope's "Frame by Frame" which ended up selling 43K, so they were spot on with her. Nonetheless, Scotty will have the #1 selling country album almost certainly, since Cassadee's sales should drop off and no other country artist is close to his numbers. Plus every HDD estimate for his albums has started slightly low so hopefully he can at least end up closer to 50K. Hopefully with that more modest starting first week number his sales will not drop off as quickly, especially with him performing at large venues like the <a href="http://www.ncstatefair.org/2013/Entertainment/DortonConcerts.htm" target="_blank">North Carolina State Fair</a> and his televised appearances.<br /><br />I am curious if they will do another <a href="http://www.qvc.com/Scotty-McCreery-Christmas-and-Clear-As-Day-2-CD-Set-Movies-&-Music-Electronics.product.F09977.html?sc=F09977-Targeted&cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION-_-7-_-F09977&catentryImage=http://images-p.qvc.com/is/image/f/77/f09977.001?$uslarge$" target="_blank">QVC type promotion</a> like last year, but this year they could sell "See You Tonight" with CWSM, or possibly sell all three albums as a set now. ("Order now and not only will you receive the new 'See You Tonight' album, but his gold Christmas collection and his platinum debut album as well, all three for only $19.99!") I am also curious if his buddies at <a href="http://www.bojangles.com/buzz/detail/scotty-mccreery-bojangles-town" target="_blank">Bojangles</a> will try to use his new album with some type of promotion like they did with the Christmas album last year. Come on, Bojangles, how much chicken did Scotty help you sell this past year? If you only bring high-fiber bread into the house, you won't be tempted to eat the refined white-flour French bread that you didn't buy.<br /> <br /> To avoid being hungry while on a diet, split up your calories into as many small meals and snacks as you can. If you eat the same 1500 calories broken up into six small meals, you will be less hungry than if you eat 500 calories at each of just three meals.<br /> <br /> One important tip for weight loss is this mantra: "plan, prepare, perform, and practice!" Weight loss doesn't happen by accident, it takes mental effort and deliberate steps in order to achieve the results that you want. "You wouldn’t be kind or courteous. At the same time, because they are two lovable, madcap, caffeinated Doctors, they’re also quite fanboyish about each other. They think it’s quite cool. They’re not broody, upset Doctors – it’s more ‘There’s two of us! John Nichols at <a href="http://www.thenation.com/blog/176641/judge-who-framed-voter-id-laws-constitutional-says-he-got-it-wrong" rel="nofollow"><em>The Nation</em> writes</a>:<blockquote class="tr_bq">Judge Posner should have paid closer attention to the detailed amicus brief filed in 2006 by the Brennan Center for Justice, which explained how the Indiana law threatened to “<a data-ls-seen="1" href="http://www.brennancenter.org/legal-work/crawford-v-marion-county-election-board" target="_blank">exclude many eligible voters from participating in our democratic process</a>.”</blockquote><blockquote class="tr_bq">Because voter ID requirements have been <a data-ls-seen="1" href="https://www.aclu.org/blog/tag/voter-id" target="_blank">widely criticized as weighing more heavily of specific classes of voters</a>—people of color, students, low-income voters, the elderly—legitimate concerns have been raised about equal protection and a host of other constitutional concerns.</blockquote><span style="font-family: inherit;">The Crawford case was a gift to Republican extremists and groups like <a href="http://www.alecexposed.org/wiki/ALEC_Exposed" rel="nofollow">ALEC</a> that have been trying to block likely Democratic voters from the polls for years. </span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: inherit;">On the heels of the Supreme Court gutting key parts of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voting_Rights_Act_of_1965" rel="nofollow">Voting Rights Act</a>, extremist lawmakers have aggressively pushed voter suppression laws in states like Texas and <a href="http://teamsternation.blogspot.com/2013/08/nc-governor-signs-voter-suppression-bill.html">North Carolina</a>, citing the Crawford case to justify their schemes. While they claim the laws are aimed at stopping voter fraud, they <a href="http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/06/25/505953/pennsylvania-republican-voter-id-laws-are-gonna-allow-governor-romney-to-win/" rel="nofollow">can barely conceal their real agenda</a>, which is to use <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poll_tax_(United_States)" rel="nofollow">poll-tax</a>-like restrictions to rig elections they can’t actually win.</span><br /><br />As <a href="http://www.salon.com/2013/10/14/voter_id_judges_shocking_admission_we_got_it_wrong/singleton/" rel="nofollow"><em>Salon</em> reports</a>:</span><br /><blockquote class="tr_bq">In Texas, according to the <a href="http://www.bradblog.com/?p=9177">DoJ’s analysis of the state’s own data</a> supplied to them, “Hispanic registered voters are more than twice as likely as non-Hispanic registered voters to lack such identification.” In South Carolina, where the DoJ <a href="http://www.bradblog.com/?p=9007">blocked a similar law there last year</a> under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, they <a href="http://bradblog.com/Docs/Justice-Department-Letter-To-South-Carolina-Blocking-Voter-ID-Law_122311.pdf" rel="nofollow">found</a> that — again, according to the state’s own data — “minority registered voters were nearly 20 percent more likely to lack DMV-issued ID than white registered voters, and thus to be effectively disenfranchised” by the state’s new Photo ID restriction law.</blockquote>Even though the judge who authored the Crawford decision has now changed his mind, anti-worker radicals who support voter suppression certainly haven’t changed theirs. So the fight for voting rights continues.
